Crawling out of the woodwork, clawing and muttering, at the slightest potential of securing the smallest amount of wealth, estranged relatives and old acquaintances come calling, feeling out avenues for any possible gain like vultures closing in on a fresh carcass where the lion still feeds.
There's this thing that happens whenever there is money to be had that really brings out the worst people and the worst in people; if you've ever come into a sudden amount of wealth or handled the estate of a loved one, you've probably experienced this for yourself, trying to explain to people who you haven't seen for thirty years why they're not getting a single cent.
Unfortunately, life isn't always a Disney movie, and sometimes the evil stepchildren do end up getting to profit off of the estate of a father they never showed love to—that is, until you factor in the cost of moving everything when their father's partner made things as difficult as possible for them by burying the car they were excited to inherit as deep as possible in the garage behind all his other belongings.
