Funniest Times People Have Tripped up Their Words and Said Something Hilariously Inappropriate Instead

Sometimes words are hard. As the wise Kevin from The Office once said, "Why waste time say lot word when few word do trick?" It's the question of the ages. Though language is important in every form of human civilization, sometimes the words are against you. Trying to make an intelligent sentence come out of your mouth when you're running on 30 minutes of sleep and working a minimum wage job is a lot to ask for, TBH. Or when you pull an all-nighter creating the best presentation, but since you didn't sleep and skipped breakfast all that intelligence goes out the window and words get jumbled and you say something like "d*ck" instead of "p*ck." It's hard out there, man! But, when you look back at those cringey trip ups with your words, it also provides for some hilarious grade-A fails to laugh forever about. So enjoy memes!

Top Work Memes This Week That We Can All Relate To (August 23, 2022)

As long as we have jobs, work memes will never get old. Part of the charm of getting through the work week is the humor we can derive from strange office dynamics and awkward professional encounters. From gossipping to your co-worker as soon as a team meeting ends to awkwardly trying to maintain posture and composure on your walk back to your desk from the bathroom, these types of office encounters are unfortunately inevitable.

The reality is, much to the chagrin of most folks out there, we're probably not going to get to retire any time soon. As much as we'd like to take a year long vacation, we don't have the time and money to do that. So, we might as well make lemonade out of lemons and gain some pleasure or at least commiserative recognition from these memes and tweets.

Sometimes, antiwork memes can ironically be the thing that gets you through the work day. Or they might leave you in a state of existential contemplation, but who's to say?

'An Impressive Bit of Creative Writing': Cafe owner destroys Karen's 1-star review with scathing response

When this disgruntled customer left a 1-star review describing their poor experience at a cafe, the owner set out to put the story straight with this thorough and scathing response. Screenshots of the exchange were posted to a popular Reddit subreddit by Reddit user u/rainier-cherries, of the employees who works at the business.

The employee posted the exchange to Reddit's r/quityourbullsh*t subreddit, a larger sub that often deals with stories such as this where people who are bragging, exaggerating, or lying get shut down.

In part of the Karen's review, she mentions calling in advance, which the owner sets straight by pointing out that she had actually sent through a written request with intense instruction regarding her daughter's food allergies. All of which were complied to.

"My daughter has to follow a special diet we would love to order [a]cheese plate for her with aged cheese," the instructions began. They continued, "She cannot have gluten, soy, eggs, sugar, [or] milk (she can do cheese if aged not mozzarella.)" Before concluding with a left-field request to "Surprise her with [a] fruit plate for her birthday, it would be great. Thanks."

Commenters had an overwhelmingly positive reaction to the owner's response and pointed out how, well, pointed their words were.

"It's missing "f- you" at the end," commented user North-Ad-5058.

"It's pretty heavily implied," replied user Appropriate_Town6385.

"This is a great example of telling someone to go f*ck yourself in the politest way possible," offered user Stephen501.

'She was absolutely giddy about it': Sadistic HR person from Hell gossips about upcoming layoffs

Sometimes, what can ruin your Mom's birthday lunch has nothing to do with you or the food. Sometimes, it's the people at the nearby table, whose conversation completely consumes your attention and, therefore, your meal experience.

This was the case for u/Hunter_Este, who posted this thread on Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit about how the birthday lunch he organized for his Mom was completely commandeered by a nearby discussion between a "scum" HR person and her friend. The conversation regarded upcoming layoffs, and the woman from HR was "absolutely giddy" about the opportunity to select who will get fired and to "get back" at the people who allegedly deserve it. She and her friend gossipped about stalking the profiles of all the people she was intending to fire.

People's livelihoods are not part of an episode of reality television. Even if these folks had wronged the HR lady in some way, gaining enjoyment from other people's suffering in the workplace will always backfire. The real victim in this story is u/Hunter_Este's Mom, who deserved a nice lunch without having to hear this nonsense.

This will certainly not be the last time unacceptable workplace drama makes waves. This recent story involved an employee who stood up to his manager after getting in trouble for being a few minutes late just once.

30 of This Week's Top Memes to Get Your Week Going (August 22, 2022)

Another week, another collection of some of our favorite memes of the week that have been posted to our Fail Blog Facebook page.

These memes are some of our top memes, the "crème de la crème" you might say. Last week, we saw a few delightful interpretations of some of the memes on the list. As promised last week, here are a few of the notable responses.

"Sooooo... artoo didn't actually do any driving? he was basically a giant GPS..." commented Fail Blogger 'whatevs,' an R2-D2 apologist who is trying to excuse the droid's actions during Order 66 and contributions to the fall of the Jedi Temple.

"Pears are not pit fruits. They have seeds," commented RedR, giving us some vital information in regards to why a particularly unfunny "Pit of dis pear" meme didn't work due to the intricacies of pear anatomy.

Meanwhile, Joe gets an honorable mention this week for his concerns over the dietary practices of the wily anaconda.

These Customer Service Memes Are Just Too Real

Nothing like customer service memes to remind you how hilarious and awful people can be. If you've ever worked in a customer service job, you know how you should act when you're on the phone with Spectrum or Con Edison and need assistance. In fact, you can tell within seconds whether the customer on the other line has any idea what it's like to be in your shoes. And yet, you have to smile your way through the pain even though every fiber of your being is fighting the urge to curse out the Karen on the other end who just threatened to ensure that you'd never work a day in your life after this.

There is some satisfaction in mutual commiseration. These server memes had that same effect.

If you're about to reach your breaking point in your customer service job, take a break and keep scrolling for some of these memes!

MIL Suspects Self-Professed Pregnant 'Gaming Addict' of Cheating, Actually Gaming

This pregnant woman found herself in her mother-in-law's crosshairs and was accused of cheating when she was caught in a lie. The thing is, she was lying to avoid having to tell her mother-in-law that she was playing video games.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by Reddit user u/True_Tap_5721. She posted the thread to the poplar sub to see if she was in the wrong for sinking herself into a bed of lies, which led her mother-in-law to accuse her of infidelity.

The mother-in-law, at first glance, seems to come across as incredibly archaic and judgemental. The more you read the post, the more you see glimpses of what could be read as an addict lashing out at loved ones trying to set them straight. If you had a healthy relationship with your hobby, you wouldn't go to such extreme lengths to lie and hide your behavior.

The fact remains that these expecting parents refer to themselves as "gaming addicts" and describe a lifestyle in which all their free time is devoted to games. As an avid lifetime gamer, it's concerning how reliant they seem on their connection to their hobby. Their lives are about to change drastically, and they appear to have given it very little consideration. Their new lives are quickly approaching, and they have only made an effort to reduce their gaming reluctantly so that the concerned parents don't see them playing.

There are so many parts of this post that signal a true addiction. Although agreeing with anyone who thinks that video games are "childish" kills me, I can't help but feel the in-laws might have a point here. Gaming looks to be a serious problem for this couple, who are about to have an entirely new person to care for.

'Everyone is terminated:' New manager at local dive bar fires literally everyone and makes them re-interview.

Everyone has had an experience with a crazy, vaguely threatening manager. But not everyone has had this one. This thread was posted on Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by u/Mattias504, who shared his story of how his new manager at the local dive bar where he works suddenly decided to "clean house" by firing everyone and making them interview again in order to retain their jobs.

This sounds like someone who has been waiting his whole life to have the opportunity to be a literal dictator. Not only is it completely unfair to make everyone "re-interview" for the jobs they already had, but what an insane way to test loyalty by immediately putting everyone's job on the line.

u/Mattias504 also included a list of work-related demands by the manager that seem a bit hypocritical, to put it lightly. "No being stoned at work (managers excluded bc we can handle it, sorry)." I mean, you gotta hand it to him. The man has some audacity! We're particularly obsessed with the fact that this caveat was included in what seems to be a staff-wide email. Audacity AND professionalism! What a guy!

There will always be stories about crazy managers. This college student ghosted his one after his school commitments were completely belittled and disregarded.

'Attention! We DO NOT get our tips!': Worker exposes thieving boss by posting forbidden sign in their workplace in viral thread

A worker uploaded this viral image of a sign they posted at the coffee shop where they work. The sign instructs patrons not to leave tips as they will be stolen by the owner of the coffee shop. "I'm probably going to be fired for this… but I don't care," the employee claims in the title of their thread.

The photo was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by Reddit user u/Cherry_P0pper, who says they work at a "local" coffee shop in southern Virginia.

They explain that the boss takes all the tips given to the workers. They cannot even pocket any tips they receive as the boss "Checks our wallets and pockets each shift" for cash and claims any cash he finds as his own.

The employee has also reported that they have been subject to verbal abuse from their employer and that their "checks keep bouncing." They have been forbidden from discussing this issue with others and have reportedly been told that they need to "put the business before their own finances."

"I do take down the sign when he comes in at close, but it's only a matter of time before he finds out," the worker explains in a later comment. "I will not be naming the company until I find another job; expect an update in about a month. We are a local business in the southern Virginia area, and that is ALL I will say for now."

Readers were outraged, which sparked much of the discussion surrounding the photo. Some readers shared times that they have seen workers resort to these means.

"This local place I go to, the cashier had a note in her palm that said 'Don't tip, [the] owner steals," commented Anthrax4breakfast. "That's some sad sh*t."

Others offered advice on how to otherwise deal with the situation.

"Even better, call your local DOL and report it," commented user umassmza. "That's illegal."

Best Memes For Jaded Millennials This Week

Being a millennial comes with a ton of baggage; We've endured a ton yet seem to be blamed for most of it. We can barely ask for anything without being labeled entitled or coddled or at the very least met with passive-aggressive eye-rolling from the closest boomer nearby. And according to a recent survey at Deloitte, millennials and GenZ adults "feel burned out…while pushing for more purposeful - and flexible - work."

The least we can do is laugh about our collective burnout. These posts and tweets were initially shared on Instagram by @millennial_misery and @corporate_millennial_memes. If you need a laugh, enjoy a trip down memory lane with some late 90s/early 2000s nostalgia along with good old-fashioned, always much-needed commiseration.

We've seen lots of anecdotes about corporate millennials, the difficulties of adulting, and millennial nostalgia. Recently, this woman in middle management expressed her struggles with becoming the jaded manager she always hated.

20 People Who Were Normally Calm But Were Provoked Into Totally 'Losing It'

Everyone has a breaking point. Even the calmest and most level-headed people will reach that moment when enough is enough, and they just can't take it anymore. These stories are examples of those moments that people witnessed, as shared on this trending r/askreddit thread.

There are a lot of responses about otherwise even-tempered teachers and mentors in this thread that snapped. Just a trend I noticed that shows how much torture we collectively put these people through.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/askreddit subreddit by Reddit user u/Specktakles88, who posed the question "Have you ever seen a normally calm person completely lose their sh*t? What happened?" to the popular sub.

Redditors responded in force with a whole load of brilliant stories and responses to this question, and these are some of the best ones.

"Quit the job on the spot," shared user 'the man with none' in one of the briefer responses. "He went out of the office showing the finger to everyone and telling us to go f ourselves. Nice dude! I miss him!"

It was an absolute pleasure reading through these, even just to put this together, so grab a cup of coffee (or beverage of choice) and get ready for a solid read.

Misogynistic Stranger Tells Woman to "Smile More" Immediately Regrets It, Others Share Their Stories

A woman was told by a stranger on the street to smile more, and with quick-thinking reflexes, she uttered a response that most of us would only think of in the shower hours later. Unfortunately, this is a scenario that women often face from misogynists who believe that a woman should always have a smile on her face to brighten up their own days with their beauty. I'm not sure if that's precisely the reason, I'm not a psychologist, but I'm sure it's some logically twisted reason like that.

It really goes without saying, but none of us should be making comments to random people on the street unless it's offering something of value to their existence. It's one of those "stay in your lane" type of principles that we preach so regularly here, and it's an important part of being a positive member of society instead of a massive a-hole.

It's perfectly ok to compliment someone on something nice they've done or on something they're wearing… But even that needs to be done in a way that isn't going to make them feel like you're some kind of predator -read the room and the situation every time.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by Reddit user u/Revolutionary_Ant209
who shared their story to the popular revenge subreddit.

Commenters discussed the toxic behavior of emotional gatekeeping and telling someone to smile. Others shared stories and experiences of their own.

"I've always hated the 'You can't be upset about something because it could be worse' mentality," offered user blankslate1498 in conjecture. "Would you ever tell someone 'You can't be happy because it could be better?' Like, I understand trying to put things into perspective, I really do, there are a lot of first-world problems that don't even begin to compare to the horrors some people are living through; however, people are allowed to feel what they feel regardless of what others are feeling. Also, minding your own business is free, and more people should take advantage of that."

"Yeah it's a weird kind of emotional gatekeeping," responded the original poster. "Somebody will always have it worse. You could be an armless, legless orphan who survived a warzone only to be given a terminal diagnosis and somebody will STILL have it worse. It's not a competition."

The original poster was very active in the comments section, and she also offered these relevant thoughts.

"My other favourite is they tell you you're so pretty you don't need make up, so you don't put it on and they're like oh my gosh are you sick are you okay you look so pale... I give up."

"I've had that before. I've had 'Cheer up, it can't be that bad.' 'Smile' and 'You'd be so much prettier if you smiled'"

All of these are comments that most -if not all, women have had to endure. So let's just all pause for a moment and reflect on the expectations we might be placing on strangers.

Customer Service Memes for People Who Have Seen Firsthand the Highest Levels of Ignorance in This World

All jobs basically suck in their own way, and boy is it in our nature to complain about them as much as possible. Even people who are low-key love their jobs and arguably love to complain about them even more. Focusing on the negative is just a part of being human, being optimistic and thankful is just plain dull. Perhaps some career paths are a little easier to handle though. We think it's fair to say that one of the most difficult kinds of jobs must be anything in the customer service field. Because it's not enough to simply do your job and do it well, you need to be nice and smack on a fake smile while you're at it. You're basically an underpaid actor who also probably has to take out the trash from time to time. And don't get us started on the people who you are confronted with. We'll just let the memes do the talking.

Update: Friend Burns $8000 of Pokemon Cards as a Prank

This YouTuber friend destroyed an $8000 Pokemon card collection as a "prank" for his channel, now, the owner of the collection is wondering what on earth he should do. Readers have urged the poster to notify the police and file charges for damages, but that still won't return or replace the treasured collection.

This thread was posted to r/TIFU (Today I F-ed Up) by Reddit user u/Ok-Watch8193, who shared a thread with the title "TIFU By letting my friend who likes to prank people in my house. Which resulted in him burning 8000$ of Pokémon cards." Their post to this classic Reddit sub has sparked outrage at the YouTuber friend, and commenters have been quick to assure the user that they are not at fault in this and should get the police involved.

"Yeah, he sounds like a complete dickwad." said user solstice gilder. "Go to the police; he destroyed your property. It's him who needs to grow up, and he needs to face reality. He shouldn't get away with it. This is not a prank; he stole your stuff and destroyed it."

"If he smashed your $8000 car, you'd go to the cops." suggested user existential prices. "If you're not that kind of person, become that kind of person because that's what you need to be real. This moment will define how you let people treat you for years to come."

'As of today everyone is being terminated:' New Orleans bar tries to 'clean house,' employees get a hold of the IG account and wreak havoc, causing mass boycott

Banks Street Bar was the bustling and beloved dive bar and venue located in New Orleans, LA. Locals would go to the bar to enjoy the delicious drinks, food, events like karaoke and bands, and just over all have a good time. Many regulars went simply for the amazing and fun atmosphere the bartenders and employees created within the establishment.

Unfortunately, all heII hit the fan recently when the bar switch to new management. Allegedly, this new manager has had a history of poor management skills throughout New Orleans and he didn't waste any time to show off that reputation.

"Wow. Talk about unprofessional. Why would anyone want to continue working for someone who behaves this way? There are ways to 'clean house' that aren't this cruel and unprofessional."

25 Top Terrible Haircuts From People Who Probably Regret Everything

Sometimes we get a "wild hair" and go to our barber or hairdresser with a radical new idea for a haircut. After copious research, you present the haircut you have in mind to the hair cutter, who then needs to translate a grainy two-dimensional image on your phone into a masterpiece that still looks good in three dimensions. It's no surprise that sometimes this goes terribly awry. Hey, we've all had terrible haircuts, but at least it (usually) grows back. As my dad always used to say… The only difference between a good and a bad haircut is about two weeks. Well, in most situations, at least.

We have a story that is legendary in my family about bad haircuts. When I was in middle school we were at the local barber, and I was waiting to get my haircut; the head barber, who owned the barber shop, was giving another kid (a few years older than me) a clipper cut with a long comb. In the middle of a determined stroke with the clippers across the kid's head, the comb popped off and cut a long and wide strip of hair off the back of the kid's head. The kid took it really well and when he started laughing everyone else present did too. The barber, who felt terrible, ended up shaving a kid completely bald that day. Pretty sure it would have taken more than two weeks to grow back in that case.

Scroll on to enjoy this (mostly) fresh collection of top terrible haircuts.

Antiwork Memes for the Tired and Overworked

Most of us are tired and overworked these days. Jobs can be all-consuming and work can feel endless. Today feels like one of those days when the second the clock hits 5pm, we should all run out of the office like Forrest Gump and never look back. No end-of-day meetings or tasks or questions. No "can you do this one final thing for me?" or "do you mind taking a quick look at this?" No. Quick. Looks. Just "run, Forrest, run!"

For those of you who could use a commiserative laugh or two in the middle of a stressful work day, we've got you covered. As the say, laughter is the best medicine (well, besides, you know, medicine). These images were shared on Imgur by user WolfWoodPress. We've seen other scenarios like these. Such as this story when a job applicant walked out of the interview upon learning the job was wildly different from its description online.

Update: Boss Reads Employees Private Fan-Faction Erotica Out Loud to Entire Team as "Prank", Wonders if He's Wrong

This fast food manager read his subordinate's erotic fan-fiction to the team as a prank and has taken to Reddit's r/AITA community to see if he was wrong.  The two had developed a close relationship that probably crossed a few lines of professional relationships, especially when you factor in the subject matter of the fan-fiction and the manager's reaction to it. It sounds like the subordinate has developed a strong crush on her older, married, boss, and, despite being married, he has allowed and even encouraged these emotions.

This thread was posted by Reddit user u/throwawayfanficwork to the popular r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit. This account is a throwaway for the manager, who posted their story to get the readers' opinions and see if he was in the wrong for his actions.

Commenters were unanimous in their condemnation of the manager's actions.

"YTA," voted user SabrinaSpellman1. "That wasn't a prank, you intentionally embarrassed her in front of people. A prank is something silly when you both laugh together, this was mean-spirited, and it humiliated her. You should apologize."

"YTA holy crap," remarked user Logical-Wasabi7402. "She shoves a cupcake in your face, and you basically revenge porn her through her fantasy fanfic? You need to prepare a lawyer."

"Hear me out, I know this sounds bad but YTA." said user penguin squeak.

In an update that was posted a few days ago (starting on item #12) the manager describes what has happened since the initial post. "Sophie" has returned to work and the two have reconciled their issues. Regardless, commenters were sure to let the manager know that they should not be managing people.

Employee Stands His Ground With Manager After Getting in Trouble for Being Three Minutes Late

If you're three minutes late once, your manager can take a chill pill. This school support staff member refused to allow his manager to bully him after he showed up to work only slightly late for the first time. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by user u/ohmydayzz, who shared his story about how he learned the hard way to refuse to give up any more free time without pay.

Here are the details. This staff member typically shows up to work 15 minutes early and always gets started immediately, per his manager's orders. When he showed up three minutes late and continued with his morning routine of making a coffee in the staff room before beginning his work, his manager berated him. To make matters worse, the manager got upset after the staff member took his full unpaid 45-minute lunch break the next day. This was the breaking point for u/ohmydayzz, who stood his ground and from that point on, never allowed his manager to bully him into starting work early or working during his required unpaid breaks.

We've seen similar stories about horrible bosses and bad managers. Like this one where co-workers took action after a worker was abruptly fired for being late for the first time.

All-Too-Accurate Memes That Confirm We Are Already Living in a Dystopian Future

When you watch a post-apocalyptic movie like Mad Max or Hunger Games, it's getting easier nowadays to imagine how these disheveled fantasy societies came to be so messed up. The more that the modern age goes hurling towards the abyss of unknown futures, the more clear it becomes that desert wastelands with scantily clad, grunge-gothic cross-dressers might not be so far off.

So maybe the world is heading towards a decent into Mad Max territory with gas prices skyrocketing, impossibly high cost of living, and historically low wages… oh and don't forget the discovery of plastic in everyone's blood stream. Living on a giant, rolling diesel island in the middle of the Mohave doesn't sound too crazy does it?

Time to shave your head.

Whether or not you're an experienced cage fighter, nobody is really ready for whatever comes next, however, we are certainly prepared to make fun of current plights and woes, softening the blow of potential hell-scape futures with what we do best-- Memes.

A Loot-Sack of Lord of the Rings Memes For Your Consideration

There are a few unfortunate characters in Tolkien's stories of Middle Earth who just had a terrible time. The most notable and exceptional of these characters is the cursed Túrin Turambar from "The Children of Húrin," which is a personal favorite of mine from the novels created from the Christopher Tolkien edited manuscripts.

I thought that this absolutely heartbreaking tragedy of a tale would make an excellent opening for a "funny lotr memes list" and I'll take any chance to talk about Tolkien legendarium, so you're welcome in advance.

(Spoilers for "The Children of Húrin" ahead, so fair warning to stop reading here if it's on your must-reads list.)

Túrin is Tolkien's analog for Sophocles's classic tragedy "Oedipus Rex," and he lived in the First Age of Middle Earth. The two share multiple similarities, including unwittingly-incestuous relationships with estranged family members. Oedipus classically weds his mother Yocasta after murdering his father, the king. Túrin, meanwhile, unknowingly discovered his nude amnesiac sister, Niënor, on the grave of his murdered elven love in an elaborate plot laid by Glaurung, the first dragon of middle earth.

Despite the entirely non-romantic of the estranged sibling's reunion the two fell in love and wed. When Túrin defeats Gaurung in the story's climax, Gaurung removes the amnesia curse he placed on the now-pregnant Niënor, who remembers that her husband is actually her brother and commits suicide.

This poor bastard's life makes Golumn's possession by the ring and subsequent cave-dwelling days look like a stay at a holiday resort in comparison.

There are other similarities between the two that I'll save for another time. That's enough delightful excitement and mood-setting for now. Fantastic book.

Enjoy this collection of Lord of the Rings memes.

Bride Fires Maid of Honor for Being a Buzzkill

Planning a wedding can bring out the absolute worst in people. That's pretty much impossible to avoid, and that seems to be what happened to u/Final_Cream6177, who shared her story about her fractured relationship with her Maid of Honor on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole thread.

Here's the scoop. u/Final_cream6177 enlisted her best friend Kathy, a professional wedding planner, to be her MOH. Kathy had planned countless weddings before, and everything seemed to be going smoothly. That is, until a couple of weeks before the bachelorette when Kathy began to personally opt out of some of the plans she made for the bridal party. When the bride confronted her about it, Kathy expressed discomfort about drinking alcohol and the stripper portion of the weekend. The bride felt "heartbroken" and tried to discuss it with Kathy to see if she would change her mind, but no dice. Kathy made her decision, which prompted the bride to abruptly dismiss Kathy from her Maid of Honor duties and the bridal party entirely. When u/Final_cream6177 shared what happened with the other members of her party (and later, on Reddit), the responses she got were less than comforting.

We've seen other wedding stories like this. Such as this one when a vegan bride cancelled her wedding after discovering her husband went behind her back and cancelled all vegan meals for the reception.

Keep scrolling for the original post and for some savage comments.
