In a world filled with franchised restaurants, coffee shops, supermarkets, and more, you'd think that most everyone would understand that inevitably someone who works at one chain coffee shop location could quite possibly wind up visiting another one as a customer when they're off work and free to enjoy the world as they see fit. Some people — namely, the Karens who walk among us — get confused when this happens, but rather than admit to making a mistake, they just double down.

Redditor u/flamealee posted to the popular subreddit r/IDontWorkHereLady to share a story from their days working at a popular Canadian coffee shop franchise as a teenager. When OP said they once visited a different franchise location while waiting for their grandfather at a doctor's appointment, a customer who recognized OP from the actual coffee shop location they work at entered and attempted to get OP's attention, figuring they must also work there, too. Things got intense as the wicked customer apparently slapped OP's drink out of their hand and yelled at them to help her, only for the store's actual employees to tell her off.

A few days later, OP says they were working at their actual job when this very same customer showed up. This time, OP's manager was there to tell the customer off — Karen walked out empty-handed that day.

Most of us identify ourselves by our occupations. As it turns out, showing discontent toward someone actively going through chemotherapy for a cancer diagnosis isn't going to grant you much love from the public; neither will making it seem like you don't think looking after your son is your job, or admitting that your own mother doesn't want to see her grandchildren.

I'll admit, somehow we need to find a way to vet candidates and make the appropriate selection. But is this it? Is this the penultimate manifestation of this process? 

I'll count myself fortunate to work in a space where a graphic T-Shirt will win you more points than a three-piece suit. How I Met Your Mother's Barney might disagree but suits are an absolute abomination.

Interviews can be incredibly nerve-wracking experiences, especially since there is usually such a power imbalance between the two parties. Often the interviewee is the one who is desperate to find a role; interviewers know this and use it to their advantage.

They aren't really looking all that hard for anything but are keeping their "eyes open" just in case something more stable comes along. So when the recruiter approached him, he decided to entertain the proposal. When he asked about pay, the recruiter flipped the question back on him and asked what his "expected salary" would be. When he answered and answered truthfully, the recruiter took offense. Obviously, it wasn't what they expected.

Worker Cries to CEO Husband Over Unfair Treatment, He Oversteps and Now Everything is a Mess

This worker was getting a pretty hard time from her supervisor. The post lends one to believe that there were discriminatory motivations behind the supervisor's actions. However, as some commenters have pointed out, if the poster got her position in the first place because of nepotism then it wouldn't be completely unlikely that she has been getting a hard time because she is unqualified for her position. 

Whatever the reason there's a lesson here somewhere… And it's probably that companies have rules about nepotism and working with family members for a reason. When she mentioned what was going on to her CEO hubby he took matters into his own hands. He got way more involved than he should have been in a project that was many levels below him, ironically putting himself out of his depth due to lack of perspective.

Finding a new job is a wild process. You just have to throw out as many darts as possible, hoping you hit something. And then when someone does return your email, you have to parse out if this company is legit, and not just trying to fleece you. It's a process, but most of us have to deal with it.

It happens all the time. A job application requires you to complete some "sample" work for them, then they just ghost you, turn around and use your work anyway. It's a great way to use desperate people as a source of free labor, and it's extremely frustrating as an applicant. But this guy had another idea planned when this law firm used his "sample" work for a case they were working on. And through some tremendously savvy lawyering tactics, the dude managed to bill the shady bastards for his trouble.

Let's get a show of hands for all the "Tired Girls" who are in this thread. Our girls who, if given the chance, would give Rip Van Winkle a run for his money and embrace a near-eternal slumber. 

As the partner of a "Tired Girl" who can sleep for 14 hours at a time, I feel like I know this boyfriend's struggle. The hours I spend just waiting for her to wake up sometimes end up being longer than the days themselves. 

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by the boyfriend, Reddit user u/wallerbelt. He posted the topic with the title "AITA for leaving the house while my girlfriend is still sleeping?" in order to appeal to readers and see if he was in the wrong for his actions. His girlfriend certainly thinks he is. 

The conflict started when the two made plans to go to the coffee shop in the morning. Instead of waking her up so that she could have time to get ready he woke her up as he was heading out the door and told her not to rush and to meet him when she was ready. 

It seems to me that he was trying to be as considerate of her needs as he possibly could be. He wasn't maliciously leaving her behind while he went off and did their plans alone. He tried to let her sleep as long as possible and was more than willing to wait for her at the coffee shop so that they could spend the rest of the time together. 

I can see the argument that he "changed" the plans by leaving without her but he did so because he was trying to be considerate. If we want to be harsh here we could even say that the girlfriend should be more considerate and make sure that she got up with enough time to get ready for their plans. She can set an alarm or something and take some responsibility too.

Guy Gets Absolutely Eviscerated By Tinder Girl After Terrible Pickup Lines Fail Epically

Everyone who is of the dating age knows how this pep talk goes. "C'mon, bro. What have you got to lose? The worst thing that can happen is that she'll say no, and then at least you've tried. It's better than not trying at all." Well, let this post stand as a testament to the fact that, while mostly true, it's not always true. Sometimes, they don't just say no. Sometimes, they're out to end your whole dating career before it has even started.

To be fair to the girl here, cheesy copy-paste pickup lines are the worst. While they might make fun content for posting online, they should never actually be used for a serious attempt at dating. Incredibly attractive people get a pass here (as they do with everything else and dating.) If you insist on using a cheesy pickup line and it fails, by no means should you then try to use pickup line #2 on the same girl. Either pack it in or go with more traditional methods. If that second pickup line fails, then trying a third pickup line would be right out. At that point, you would deserve anything that came in your direction. 

This sorry sod made the terrible mistake of trying three pickup lines, and he has paid oh-so-dearly for his mistake. There has never been a more appropriate use for the phrase "murdered with words."

Large Sister-In-Law Knowingly Destroys Expensive Chair, Refuses To Pay For It

Under most other circumstances, all parties would probably just laugh this one off. But this time, OP had an explicit conversation about how her brand new hammock chair probably wouldn't be able to hold the weight of her sister-in-law, to which she agreed. But only moments later, she sits in the damn thing and tears it apart, rendering the thing useless. OP cared a lot about that thing, so she had some choice, frustrated words for this woman who knowingly broke her nice chair.

This resulted in counter-claims of fat-shaming which where complemented by a refusal to pay for the chair. The thought on everyone's mind was "it's still a dick move to agree to not break someone's stuff, go through with breaking someone's stuff, and then refuse to pay for the stuff you broke."

The world is a big place, and it's constantly full of things. Things to be noticed. Things to be commented upon. Things to be complained about, taken apart, and put back together the wrong way. The internet is a place where people get to tinker with their ideas, get feedback, and release the abominations that are their thoughts upon this virtual land. Some of it is just people trying to release the burden of their dumbest ideas in a place where they'll have some kind of value. Other times it's noting the peculiar shape of a cloud.

When your family members become friends with your partner, breakups can get spicy. I've seen it happen countless times within my own family, and it's always a recipe for some good ol' fashioned family drama. It's only natural that your family form their own relationships with your partner. It's incredibly healthy and should be encouraged (if you have a healthy family dynamic.) But, people do grow apart and fall out of love. Sometimes things just weren't meant to be. So when your now-friend spits from their partner, your family member, what do you do? Ideally, an amicable relationship on all sides would be possible, but it's often not. So then you have people "choosing sides," and that's when the drama starts. 

In that way, I can see how it would be hard for this brother-in-law to watch his family member move on from a relationship with his friend, but when you're family, sometimes you need to learn when to keep your mouth shut.

There's little gain in life without taking a few risks. And while rejection is hard, we comfort ourselves by saying those magic words, "the worst they could say is no." And while that's usually true, there are other instances where being vulnerable, showing our cards or extending ourselves can backfire for us catastrophically.

It could be a crush you ask out who says "I would literally rather go on a date with a trench coat full of rats than spend another second with you" right before she gives you a wedgie. New Teacher Demands Student Fix Her Bangs, Reveals Her Missing Eye

It sounds cliché to have teachers in this day and age complaining about students having their hair in their face, but this time around a teacher was met with a terrifically unexpected surprise. It's poetic, how fast someone can back down when they realize they've just got themselves in over their head. This teacher knew instantly that they had messed up, and probably spent the rest of the day in the staff lounge demanding to know from other teachers why no one had told him about "the kid with the bangs."
