One of the biggest problems with archaeology is having to make enormous guesses about what things must have looked like with no meat on them. Sure, Jurassic Park's visual effects were cool but there's constant reinterpretations of what dinosaurs actually looked like, and mistakes like having bones backwards and not realizing it for decades. Tumblr has a vivid imagination of how aliens would interact with earth's wildlife, and these memes do a fun job of combining our own archaeological difficulties with the sci-fi-ness of an alien who has no clue what they're looking at.
