Boss Insists Breast Pumping Mom Turn Camera On For Work Meeting, Creates New Policy

Anyone who's had to do any kind of video conference call has probably had to deal with the dilemma of "do I have to turn on my camera." Usually it's simply a matter of not wanting to be seen in your stain-shirt by the CEO, but other times, there's actually a good reason you might not be perfectly fit for public viewing. This employee let her lead know that she might not be fit for camera, and gave a reasonable explanation. But naturally, they didn't want to hear it. What resulted was the whole office getting a peak into her personal life. Lo and behold, a completely new work policy came out of the episode. So hey, workplace culture isn't as impenetrable as one might think.

For another manager who didn't get that some people have legitimate reasons to not show up on camera, here's the firefighter who got dragged into a mandatory work meeting and ended up calling in from an active fire.

Idiot Insists Guy’s House is a Chinese Restaurant, Gets Served Justice

If you find yourself holding a phone number that's one digit off of a high traffic number like a dentist's office or restaurant, it's understandable to become frustrated when people keep blowing up your phone demanding root canals and mu shu pork. Messing with someone who made an honest mistake isn't terrifically moral, but if you inform that caller of their mistake and they respond by insisting you deliver them their so-desperately desired molar filling/dumpling filling, then whatever happens next is totally on them.

They say the definition of insanity is when you do the same thing expecting different results. And this one seems to fit the bill. He could have just listened to what the person on the other line was explicitly telling him, but no dice.

This story prompted other people to share their own wrong dumb caller stories. And all we can really say about them is, good thing they never had to meet in person.

Husband Refers to His Wife's Cooking as Pig Slop, She Refuses to Cook For Him

This wife has decided that she is done cooking for her husband after she overheard him telling her father-in-law that her cooking "can only be fed to pigs, not humans." Her feelings are extremely hurt but the husband claims that he had been "trying to protect her feelings" and that she "hurt him."

This thread was posted to r/AITA (Am I the Asshole) by the wife, u/WalkAMileI5, who is wondering if she is in the wrong for refusing to cook for her husband after overhearing his comments.

Commenters have been lambasting the husband and condemning his attitude, "Nta, f#&k that noise. I wouldn't cook for him EVER again." said angellove200. "NTA, he doesn't deserve your cooking. Or give him the potato peels, like you would a pig." replied likeahike.

Overall the determination seems to be that she should no longer cook for him and should do whatever makes her happy.

Read on below for screenshots of u/WalkAMileI5's original post and the reactions.

Boomer Employer Blames Gen Z For Their Hiring Issues

Commenters on one of Reddit's fastest-growing subreddits gathered to share their thoughts on a viral image that was shared by one of the users.

This thread was posted to r/antiwork by Redditor u/mysterioussoup who shared the image in a thread with the title" Proud of Gen Z."

The image depicts two A4 sheets of paper with a message lambasting the shop's Gen Z employees:

4/20

I apologize for us closing AGAIN.

My 2 new cashiers quit because I said their boyfriends couldn't stand here for their entire shift.

Don't Hire Gen Z's

They don't know what work actually means.

NOW HIRING!

*Baby-boomers only. Thanks!

Commenters have remarked on the fact that the job probably isn't anything that the aging baby boomers would be remotely interested in.

"Now hiring baby boomers... for the salary, I paid new-to-the-workforce teens" is sure to bring in massive crowds." said grobmob. User Ya-Dikobraz replied "Most boomers are retired now. Some of those retired would actually do something like a cashier job. I also feel like they really meant Gen-X, not Boomers. But Gen-X is like the forgotten generation."

"FFS. I'm a boomer, and the last place I'd work is somewhere with only boomers." said another user.

Overall, the general consensus appears to be that the alleged creator of the sign is totally off-base and that this sign is possibly a signifier of a toxic employer.

Woman Disregards GF's Gift Request, Buys Her a Kitchen Appliance Instead

This woman decided that her girlfriend's request for jewelry was too obvious of a gift. She would get her something surprising instead by getting her something that she had mentioned previously but not explicitly requested.

This thread was posted to r/AITA by the wife, u/penguinblinders, who purchased the gift. She is wondering if she is an a-hole for her actions, her friends and girlfriend seem to think that she is.

Commenters think that what she has done is abhorrent because it comes across that she has intentionally purchased her partner a "chore" as a gift rather than what she wanted. I'm actually of the mind that she had tried to do the right thing by purchasing her partner a "surprise" gift instead of the obvious. It doesn't seem like she has intentionally done what commenters are saying, and it looks more like a misguided mistake than anything else. I think she is still in the wrong, but I don't believe it was as sinister as commenters seem to think it is.

Aunt Planning Wedding Supports Non-Binary Nibling, Draws Ire of Their Parents

A soon-to-be auntie stood up for her non-binary nibling's best interest when she told them that she did not expect them to wear a dress to her wedding. With a streak of empathy that the parents themselves lack, she was able to see how uncomfortable the prospect of wearing a dress was making her future nibling. The parents are angry and demand that she changes her stance, but she is fairly sure that what she is doing is the right thing. I mean, all other ethical justifications aside… It's her wedding, so the in-laws can back off!

This thread was posted by the aunt, Redditor u/Extreme-Break-6638, who has posted the story to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit to get readers' opinions as to whether or not she is in the wrong or if she has overstepped by taking her position.

My take would be this: What an absolute legend. If only more young people had adults like this in their lives, who understood them and had their best interests at heart. Not only is this to-be-auntie not in the wrong… She's a goddamn hero.

Kudos to her, and here's to hoping she takes the commenter's advice and sticks to her path.

Fake HOA Karen Tries to Enforce Strict Rules, Member Uses Them to Get Revenge

This Karen had been kicked out of her HOA Karen club, but she still couldn't keep from meddling in others' affairs. This nosy neighbor can't mind her own business and should probably be imprisoned for her past actions. When a teenage son was left home alone, and she decided to start poking around, he decided to exact revenge on her just within the limits of the HOA's code.

The story was posted to r/pettyrevenge by Redditor u/Alb1rdy, who shares the tale of their revenge against their neighbor.

Just a word of note here: This colorful tale is told in such a manner and with enough allusions, exposition, and allegory that Hemmingway himself would have trouble making heads or tails of it. It's the literary equivalent of eating an entire jar of peanut butter with a spoon, and the phrase "Mozart's requiem on the meatflute." is a phrase that will be burned into my brain forever.

Women Who Regret Giving A Creepy Guy A Chance

If hanging out with someone makes your skin crawl, and they try to use guilt to get you to go out with them in the first place, you can rest assured that it's probably not gonna get better from there.

There's a massive difference between being creepy and just being weird. Tons of people are weird, but typically weird people know that fact, and they are able to let their weirdness manifest itself as dorkiness, quirkiness, or at the very least, eccentricity. But there's a vast difference between being super into medieval history and being the type of person who makes people want to take a shower after meeting you.

And don't go thinking there's a deeper integrity to someone's terrible creepiness. It's a lot safer to assume that people wear their intentions on their sleeves, so when someone who you just met seems to know a lot more about you than what you've actually told them, don't go trick yourself into thinking that it will get better.

Here are some folks who went against better judgement and dated creeps. And here's a delusional nice guy who went bananas on an engaged coworker.

Real Life Cowgirl Goes on a Run, Ends Up Helping a Random Cow Give Birth

You think cowboys are cool? Wait until you meet a real life cowgirl.

Nurse Makes Trashy Judgement About Patient, Mad She's Been Called Out

A nurse made an assumption and then proceeded with an inappropriate judgment and course of action. Her patient had had enough and reacted to her treatment. Now the patient is wondering if she went too far.

This thread was posted to r/AITA (Am I the Asshole) by the patient, u/teenmistakethrowaway (OP), who was facing judgment from the nurse. She is posting this thread to share her story and see whether or not she is in the wrong for her reactions to the nurse's attitude towards her.

She notes that the nurse was very standoffish towards her until the end of the appointment when OP mentioned her "husband." This led to the nurse realizing that OP was not as young as she had thought. The nurse had assumed that u/teenmistakethrowaway was very young based on her appearance, which u/teenmistakethrowaway notes is something that happens to her quite frequently.

Funny Signs Found In This Big Dumb World

Sometimes we're just too clever for our own good, and we need to communicate that cleverness to other people in a more passive way. We'd love to tell our favorite witticisms over and over again, but we can't be everywhere at once. That's why we've got all these friendly signs to be only in one place, but all the time.

Be they a helpful reminder or a cry for help themselves, we can't help but feel warmly toward all the signs in our big dumb world. At least the ones that don't say they're going to outright kill us. That's the job for creepy signs that make their message clear. But for all other times, we've got signs that can't be trusted.

So check out there scrawlings of your fellow man. Most of them are pretty accurate, some make no sense, but they all mean something to someone. Sort of. Probably.

Boyfriend Tries Controlling Girlfriend's Shower Temperature, Thinks He Is The Victim

It's pretty normal for showers to steam. This guy either takes lukewarm showers, or is under the impression that a steaming shower means that the water is literally boiling your skin to pieces. And if that's the case, he just needs a science lesson. Also, he's very interestingly concerned by his bathroom's ability to handle steam, which is kind of a standard thing that bathrooms should be able to do, right? Is his shower curtain made of crepe paper? But the real weirdness here is this guy's insistence on policing the showering habits of his soon-to-be ex-girlfriend.

Not only does this guy go so far as to insist she shower differently, he also decided that it's reasonable to remove the lock so he can more easily invade her privacy to check and make sure she's showering in the manner that he personally deems acceptable.

For some more curious unreasonable-ness, here's the wife who insisted her family be able to stay while a nurse changes her husband's catheter.

Random Funny Tumblr Gems To Vibe To Or Not

The thing about the internet is that you can never really know who you're talking to. Any number of the squawking typers of the web could be your mailman, your hairstylist, or even your mom. And every one of us is absolutely packed with thoughts. Most of them are pointless and stupid. Some of them are terrifically wise, even mind-blowing. But the one thing in common is that they all show up in the same place. And we, the people, are left to discern whether or not a thought is worthwhile based only on its content rather than the life on the other side of the hidden mouth that's saying it.

And when it comes to Tumblr, a whole lot of it is just gonna be about movies from the mid to late 2000s. Some of it will be profound and some of it will be mockable. So, y'know, take it all with a grain of salt.

Here are some more funny tumblr gems uncovered from the deep.

Milkshake Mistake Leads to Absolute Piss-Take

When this customer approached the food service worker at the local ice cream joint to complain about the fact that their milkshake wasn't milky enough they couldn't possibly have imagined just how milky their milkshake could get.

This story was posted by u/chsser who shared it to the popular r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. They wrote this story to tell about a regular who used to come in every day for a shake. Chsser states that this regular was generally a pretty chill guy about most things but was extremely particular about how "milky" his milkshake was.

"This dude would summon the might of satan if his milkshake wasn't made with enough milk in it. Worse, he would sit there and wait until you remade it to his liking." explains chsser.

Chsser had had enough of this and did what every customer service person wishes they could do… They maliciously complied with the customer's every demand and made them the milkiest milkshake possible.

Read on for Chsser's story and the reactions below.

Professional Consultant on TikTok Sparks Conversation About Red Flags in Managers

Micromanaging obviously made the list, but why is having been only at the company your entire career on there?

Freaky Facts That Are Difficult To Believe

The known universe is a pretty big place. Maybe "big" doesn't even cover the massiveness. "Leviathan" might apply to like half of it, and maybe "insurmountably gigantic" would cover a lot of the rest. But within the most miniscule parts of habitable reality in which we find ourselves sleeping, going to work, and eating tacos, there are still what science would refer to as "oodles" of new things to learn every day.

And no, knowing more about scorpions and swords won't make you "smarter" per say, but it will provide a grander context to the physical world we're hanging our in. And waking up with a better idea of the world you walk on makes it at least a little bit easier to comprehend, even though learning more things often inspires twenty new questions. But hey, that's life on Earth.

Here are more of people's most fun, interesting and peculiar facts.

Bad-Tempered Girlfriend Starts Schism in Family, Protected By Passive Parents

Pet Store Karen Quizzes Random Teen on Animal Anatomy, Can't Fathom They Don't Work There

"Does it have testicles?"… the penultimate question that echos out into the space of recorded time. Who can be certain? Who here truly knows or has the answer?

This Pet Store Karen (a distant relative of the Pet Shop Boys) certainly doesn't have the answer. We're pretty sure that she doesn't have the answer to much of anything in life, not that many of us do. But, whereas the rest of us are befuddling our way around our lives and trying to be the best to others that we can be, this Pet Store Karen has instead let her confusion fester into entitlement, hatred, and anger. Now she walks the earth in a fury, sustained by hatred alone like Darth Sion (any KOTOR fans out there?)

This story was posted to Reddit's r/Idontworkherelady subreddit by u/Azurehue22, who the Karen in question accosted. They share this tale of their bewildering experience. Commenters responded with their questions and responses, others still shared similar experiences of their own.

Cursed Images To Not Feel So Good About

Have you ever felt like things just aren't going your way? Like things feel a little off-kilter? Slightly awry? As if there's just not the right balance in your life? Well it could definitely be a lot worse. We could be living in a world of phantasmal off-kiltertude. A world where the Furbies are longer than they ever ought to be. A world where things just never quite fit together or match up.

Sometimes we don't realize how balanced our lives really are. And we need a reminder that things could be a lot more unsettling, usually in the form of blood-filled ticks and improperly positioned hotdogs.

So here are some more cursed, creepy and weird images from the abyss. Just in case you wanted to look at more milk-doused coins, beans in the wrong places, shoes covered in teeth and thumbtacks all up everywhere else. It's an aesthetic, but it's not really all that aesthetic.

Semi-Driver Blocks Shoulder-Driving Karen, Watches Her Crash Into Police Cruiser

In general, it's not a good idea to get in the way of a reckless driver. Using your own vehicle to block a road-raging Karen is a great way to get yourself mangled, and it's always best to let insane drivers use their own insanity to get as far away from you as possible. And in the event of an actual emergency, you can't actually know what's going on in someone's car that's making them drive like a lunatic.

But this time around, Karen was just being a Karen. She insisted that the shoulder was her own personal passing lane, and this semi-truck driver took it upon themselves to make sure she quite literally stayed in her lane. In her attempt to escape traffic, she ended up zooping right into a cop car. So technically, she did end up not having to sit in a traffic jam anymore, thus achieving her goal. It's nice when things work out for everyone.

For another slice of the Karen life, here's a person who watched a Karen ruin her own car.

Digital Marketing Specialist Fixes Critical Issues, Told to Unfix it By Micromanaging New Boss

There's nothing more satisfying than going above and beyond in your job and receiving no recognition for it. Even better is going above and beyond to fix a serious issue and then being reprimanded. That's exactly what happened to this digital marketing specialist when they resolved a critical issue (that the company didn't even realize existed.) Their unqualified new boss took it as insubordination and a challenge to their position and questioned the changes they had made. This was despite the changes showing obvious results.

This story was posted to r/MaliciousCompliance by the digital marketing specialist, u/ernestomarord.

They shared the story and explained that the new boss's "micromanagement style" and criticism of their "critical thinking skills" eventually led them to a breaking point and caused them to leave the company. They are certain that the boss, who has no idea what they are doing, will fail without them there.

Oh, and before they left, they changed back the key changes that were being called into question.

Landlord Sends Over the Most Red Flag Renters Lease Ever, TikToker Calls Them Out

Always read the fine print… Seriously.

People Share The Most Unprofessional Thing A Doctor Has Told Them

It's cool to have a funny mechanic. Like, who cares if someone says your tires are smoother than peanut butter. That's totally fine and expected. But having a doctor try to get a laugh while looking at your junk doesn't exactly inspire any confidence in their ability to practice medicine.

And even worse than the ones who are try out their new hour while your pants are down are the ones who literally don't know what they're talking about. Having a doctor tell you that your very real pain is "just in your head" or that the first line of treatment for a blood clot should be prayer is just a goddamn horror show.

Most of us have the benefit of seeing professional doctors, but every so often you get one who just doesn't seem to really understand that as a medical professional, they're supposed to be, you know, medically professional.

Supermarket Karen Assaults Kid Helping Their Disabled Parent, Arrested, Cries in Court

This bewildering "Supermarket Karen" decided that she needed help from one of the store's personal shoppers. Except the store didn't have personal shoppers because that hasn't been a thing in grocery stores since like 1930 or something. She approached the "personal shopper" who was helping a woman seated in a wheelchair and began waving her list in their face and demanding her own service. To her abject horror, the personal shopper refused to divert her attention away from the other customer and continued helping them first. To make matters worse, the insolent employee began spouting something about helping her mother and not working there at all! Karen decided that this would not stand and moved to physically seize the "employee." This would lead to her downfall and to her bringing out the only trick she had left up her sleeve… The "victim" card. This poor defenseless Karen didn't mean to; it was just a misunderstanding.

Good one, Karen; You totally fooled them all.

Teaching Memes That Are At Least Better Than Homework

It's always weird, the moment you get old enough and realize that the teacher is just another person. And then you get a little older than that and realize that the teacher is a person who's at work, and like all jobs, it can suck. It doesn't make us reflect on our academic careers more fondly, but it does put things in a different perspective. Most notably, a perspective that makes it a little more obvious why you always watched a movie on the days after major drinking holidays.

Being a teacher is a rough gig. If you do your job terribly, you could be creating a future criminal. And if you do your job terrifically, you could still be creating a future criminal. Life just kind of works out that way. Anyway, here are teacher memes, which have the same hopeless vibe as work memes. It's as enlightening as it is understandable and disappointing.

Boss Badmouths Receptionist, Eats Her Words When She Gets Abuser Arrested

Being someone's boss might give you more clout at a company, but it doesn't make you more of a person than them. In every industry, people seem to have a really hard time understanding that concept.

This tale is another one of those times that someone with bigger shoes thinks that the can be an ass to someone lower in the work hierarchy. Except instead of the higher-up getting fired or inconvenienced, some actual good came of it. If not for this receptionist's quick thinking, this whole story could have played out a lot differently. Maybe this is a reminder that the point of having a workplace is so that everyone should work as a team to help each other do a better job. Maybe.

Work should be a place where people do their jobs, not where your boss gets to shit-talk you so they can feel powerful. Here's the time a power-tripping boss who reminded an employee she could quit, so she did.

Wholesome Memes and Moments to Lighten the Load

For every one of us, life is a series of ups and downs. And honestly, we have very few complaints about the ups. The ups are on the whole, pretty fantastic. Ten out of ten score for life's ups.

But in the down parts, it's really easy to completely forget about the ups. People are very skilled at tricking themselves into thinking that everyone is in it for themselves and true compassion is a myth. But the reality is that almost everyone is trying to do their best at any given time, and we just need a reminder that this whole life thing is a pretty good deal.

It's probably healthy to take a moment and force yourself to accept that people are decent, especially when it doesn't feel that way. And even if you're totally unconvinced that people are generally alright, at least there's dogs. Dogs don't mess around, man. Those things freakin' love you.

Company Refuses to Give Employee New Contract, So They Abide the Terms of Their Old One

This retail worker was finally promoted to a management position after jumping through "1000 hoops" to get there. When they were finally promoted, they were given their raise but were not given a new contract, despite repeatedly asking. When they got an offer from another company offering a serious pay bump, they realized that since they were still on their old contract… They were still on their old notice period.

This story was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by the employee, Redditor u/Garfish-woosh, who shared the story of their compliance with the terms of their old contract.

Commenters applauded the poster's actions and noted that the employer had reaped what they had sowed by refusing to give them a new contract.

Others shared their own stories and similar experiences.

"Haha, my brother did this exact thing." commented Hattix, "They trained him up, gave him the extra £, but never re-did his contract, so he never got the other benefits (mostly mileage and medical). His notice period didn't change from 2 weeks to 8 weeks."

"So when he handed in his notice a year and half later (unrelated reasons), they said it was 8 weeks. He asked them to show him that in his contract, and they went all quiet."

TikTokers are Sharing the Most Unprofessional Thing a Doctor has Ever Said to Them

One doctor told a young overweight child with a sprained ankle to hop out of the hospital because he needed the exercise…
