Does this person think they're running a restaurant or a high-stakes military operation? Not only is the 25 years portion of the NDA ridiculous, but also the whole contract consists of poorly defined terminology that will likely make it impossible to enforce. Some of the Redditors in the comments section got into a heated debate about what was the right advice for the original poster (the UK lawyer who advised to sign the document and forget about it is insane…). We've all been there: You're the guest at someone's house, and — after taking care of your business — you go to flush. Except, the contents of the bowl don't disappear like they're supposed to — instead, the water begins to rise. You panic and search franticly around the room for a plunger as the water (still rising) begins to reach critical levels — threatening now to spill over onto the floor. The fact that you can book a ticket but not be guaranteed a specific seat is one flaw, but the fact that they would give the Redditor a priority seat (which she insisted she was not aware of prior to boarding the train) just goes to show that this system is complete chaos. While I too feel bad for the older woman, if the system's rules are clear, she should have known that no seat is guaranteed (and certainly not a first-class one…beggars can't be choosers, lady!). However, at the end of the day, the real A-hole here is the train booking system. In what world is this allowed to happen?!

Guy Tries to Talk His Way Into Unavailable Hotel Room, Won't Take No For an Answer

In contrast to the other interactions we see posted online by customer service persons, this one is pretty innocuous. It does a great job of providing insight into the sheer number of bizarre interactions you have — week in and week out — when you work in a public-facing role. Not all of them are Karens losing their marbles over the slightest inconvenience — but they will still leave you scratching your head and wondering what in gods name you have just witnessed.

I used to sell bikes, and some of my favorite interactions would be when guys would flat-out lie about their height to the point of delusion. This would happen far more often than you might expect, and some of these guys would have literally convinced themselves that they were taller than they actually were. I know my height down to tenths of an inch, so don't claim to be taller than me when I can see the top of your head. Of course, we'd chuck these guys onto the size of bike that they "claimed" they were, and it would soon become wildly apparent to everyone involved in the process that this wasn't going to be a good fit. At this point, I would come up with some far-fetched reason as to why this size wasn't working "for their body type," and we'd get them onto the correct size.

Again, this whole interaction happened far more often than it had any right to, and there's an endless list of crap like this that you just learn to deal with. Everyone has their quirks and idiosyncrasies, and sometimes they manifest themselves in really strange ways.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit, and we have to give a shoutout to the original poster for not only discovering this loophole and using it to their advantage, but also for standing their ground when confronted by their vile boss.

 

Essentially, the Redditor first learned the hard way that employees at this company receive one of a maximum of five occurrences (or punishments) for an uninterrupted sick period. However, taking one sick day, coming back into the office, and then taking another sick day if the illness resumes resulted in two separate occurrences. This policy is particularly ridiculous considering three sick days in a row still only translate to one occurrence. So naturally, the next time the original poster got sick, they took the full three days in a row.

‘Give the Phone to Someone Who Knows Business’ : Entitled Hotel Guest Demands Free Reservation for Early Check In at Hotel

People hear what they want to hear, see what they want to see, and want what they want to want. Marilyn-Audrey is a front desk agent of a hotel who shared a story on Reddit about an entitled guest who wasted 20 minutes of her time on the phone trying to get what he wanted. We shall dub the guest 'DA' (short for dumba*s) as per her post. 

DA called to check room rates for that night, and after a brief interrogation, out came his inner stupidity. He asked that MA book him a room for the next day but asked that she allow him to check in early. MA politely explained that the hotel was nearly sold out that night and could not guarantee an early check-in for the next day. DA asked a few more stupid questions, and told her in other words: 'I want to reserve the room for free until tomorrow, therefore denying the hotel its rightful potential income for that room because I'm selfish and above everyone else.'

Kudos to MA, because she handled it brilliantly and told him, in a mannerly fashion, to f*ck off. In other words, she told him that the hotel would not deny paying customers a reservation so that he could check in early for free. The man had the audacity to tell her, 'Nothing is absolute, especially in business. Why are you not willing to work with me? Give the phone to someone who knows business.' 

He went on to say that she was making it an issue while others did not. Shortly thereafter he pulled the 'Let me speak to your manager' card, and after failing some more, finally hung up the phone. There's something infuriating about a manager who doesn't trust you enough to let a little "give and take" slide. There will always be natural stopping points in a lot of workplaces where starting something new with ten minutes remaining until the end of the workday doesn't make sense. At this point, it makes sense to call it a day, knowing that you'll probably arrive ten minutes early tomorrow to get started or get stuck working late some other day this week. It's part of the natural ebb and flow that adds a little grey to the black-and-white rules of timekeeping.

Enter: These clock-watching micromanagers. These types of managers operate in a world where things are black or white; they have little to no understanding of what a "grey area" is and probably don't have enough stupid brain cells to power that function anyways. These managers will be watching that clock like a hawk, and you had better be at your desk from 8 am (on the dot) until 5 pm, no exceptions. Oh, unless you need to work late or come in early to finish something —That, to them, is a suitable exception.

Well, these workers turned the tables on their clock-watching micromanagers and decided that if they weren't allowed to leave early or come in late, then they wouldn't be coming in early or staying late either; This was far more than these managers were prepared to comprehend.
