Clueless People Who Missed The Joke By Miles

With every great joke uttered, there's always someone out there with the potential to miss that joke by miles. Not only that, but they'll have the sheer audacity to treat the joke teller like they're the moron. It's obliviousness like that that feels like a kick in the teeth to humanity in general. Is there helping bozos who didn't get the joke? Maybe, but only if they want to be helped.

AskReddit Thread: Dumbest Lies People Actually Pulled Off

There's something hardwired into us as human beings, where we're terribly susceptible to willing ourselves into believing completely blatant lies that people are telling right to our faces. Maybe it's some sort of conflict avoidance. Maybe it's that romantic, idealistic urge to try to see the best in someone. With all of that being said, it's nothing short of a stupefying wonder that these people were able to get away with the dumb lies that they were.

Absurd Times Restaurants Served Food In Absolutely Anything

A while ago restaurants decided that they serve "an experience" rather than just food, and that high concept really got into some people's heads. Now customers get to eat chips served on fishing hooks and croissants served on top of old VHS tapes. There's no end to all the food served on anything but dishes. For more interplay between the world of food and the world of not food, here are things that look scrumptious but aren't food.

New Owners Get Rid of Vacation Policy, Crucial Employee Debilitates Company

There's a rich history of new owners coming in and completely destroying what was good about a workplace, like this time new owners bullied employees and ran their company into the ground.  In this case they made the mistake of depending on one person, making him very angry and then giving him time to think about it. Good on Jimmy.

Scams That Have Been Normalized By Society

We are at heart, frugal, sometimes to the point of staggering paranoia. We're the kind of people who are inclined to look at an overpriced jar of pickles and say to ourselves "Big Pickle must be stopped." Just because a business, practice or concept has been operating for decades doesn't mean that it's not just a scam that people overlook. Stupid pickles are just vinegar and cucumbers anyway.

On the flipside, here are some things people think are scams but aren't really.

1-Year-Old Daughter Steals Sweet, Mom Tells Store, Store Still Bans Mom

How cold hearted can you be? The mom in this scenario literally goes out of her way to tell the store what her 1-year-old (1 YEARS OLD) daughter did when it came to lifting a sweets item. And then the store still has the heartless audacity to tell the mom that she's banned. Pretty unreal.

Dad Charges Ex $100 To Babysit On Custody Day

At first glance, you'd probably go ahead and assume that the dad was very much so in the wrong, but upon closer inspection it becomes glaringly evident that there's a whole lot more dysfunctional nonsense afoot within the relationship dynamic. Probably best to just hard reject the next time around.

Highly Questionable Design Fails

We love us some good old-fashioned design fails here. It's fun to take that moment and try to determine what kinds of misled thinking went into these. Maybe they're just very ahead of their time, or something. Check out some more dumb design failures that somehow got through, over here.

AskReddit Thread: Reasons People Noped Out Of Relationships

In this modern era with its wealth of dating apps, there are an unfortunate number of people that end up finding themselves seated across the table from waking nightmares that aren't at all like the people they presented themselves as on their dating profiles. If anything, an informative AskReddit thread like this can be helpful in terms of showcasing the red flags to keep a wary eye out for when you're dipping your toes in the dating pool. For another AskReddit list with a similar theme, check out this post about the embarrassing times that people missed obvious hints.

Dirt Bikers Attempt To Ascend Impossible Hill

So, the quick backstory on this rather daunting hill is that it's a part of "The Impossible Climb Andler" in Belgium. Apparently the challenge has taken place over 20 times, and no biker has ever been able to complete the climb. Just imagine what kind of hysteria will break out when that fateful day arrives.

Swiss Hockey Coach Is Ruthlessly Honest

Well, Swiss hockey coach, Christian Wohlwend is the living, breathing definition of "honest" in human flesh. This quick little video segment is from back in 2018 when he was still a coach, and being asked what he thought his team's odds were. Basically, he didn't foresee a bright future for his team.

Interviewer Is Way Too Hyped For Tommy Lee Jones

There's definitely something to be said about the power of reading a room, and ultimately what that can do for you when it comes to trying to maintain a flowing conversation. It'd appear that this interviewer misread the general vibe from Tommy Lee jones, just a bit.

Woman Tries To Ride Camel, Splits Pants, Falls

Maybe it wouldn't be so embarrassing if this lady's pants hadn't split. Maybe it would have gone a little better if she had hung on. Maybe she just wasn't prepared to ride a camel. Also, gotta hand it to Eastern Europe. We totally forgot that straight-out-of-a-cartoon looking circuses like this were still a big thing in some places.

Angry Systems Manager Learns He Engineered Own Nightmare

We've all lost some work to the fates of computer junk, but usually we have the benefit of blaming the system we're using. We get to say "damn this program, I thought I had that crap saved but it's done screwed me over again!" But not this time. IT gets some characters, like this guy who thought he knew better than IT but learned otherwise.

Incompetent Boss Forgets Employee Quit, Gets Reality Check

It's a quick and agitating story about a human being like the one we have in this tale, that can really bring the blood to a boil, when it comes to stewing over how certain incompetent individuals end up in the positions of power that they do. Seriously, it sounds like it's only a matter of time before John ends up making a fail on such a scale that the company itself suffers a big hit.

Tumblr Thread: Implications Of A Sleep Starved Society

The name of the game in this educational Tumblr thread is to not sleep on sleep. Those zzz's are crucial toward maintaining some kind of balance in one's life. With that being said, we clearly live in a society that oftentimes operates at such a fast and competitive pace that actually locking down the proper amount of sleep every night can become a terrible challenge in and of itself. Keep the Tumblr vibes going with this collection of totally random, strange, and on point Tumblr gems.

Choosy Beggar Asks Guy On Dating Site For Free Ride

Of course the stereotypical choosy beggar falls back on the seemingly automated, rude response. This definitely isn't the first time that a cheap and shameless choosy beggar has tried to use a dating app to score a free ride, and we're sure it's not going to be the last time. There are tons of people that frequent these different dating sites that are just trying to score free stuff. You've just got to keep a watchful eye out for the signs, and then, maybe you just don't care.

Entitled Customer Tells Plumber His Rate's Too High, Gets Nastier After That

Man oh man, our hearts go out to anyone working in the sewage/draining industry who ends up having to deal with these kinds of terribly entitled, if not delusional customers. This scenario was shady from the very beginning. And then after the customer blatantly wastes the poor dude's time, he has the audacity to get all nasty toward the guy. Good riddance and good luck getting that issue resolved. Seems like most of the moral judges in the comments section agreed that this guy wasn't in the wrong at all for walking out on the "job."

New Owner Bullies Employees, Runs Company Into Ground, Fails Court Case

There's a rich history of bosses orchestrating their own downfall and this one is a stellar example. This lady's genius idea was to make their product crappier while keeping prices high and treating staff like garbage. Where could that go wrong? Some bosses make it clear right away that playing along won't be worth it. Here are some job listing horror stories as well as reasons people quit their jobs on the first day.

Twitter Thread: Men of Middle Earth as Bad Exes

People live to talk about Lord of The Rings, be it discussions on Boromir's death, or this tumblr thread on Elvish dialects. Ever watch the Lord of The Rings Trilogy and think "I wonder if Gimli is a bad boyfriend?" Well let there be less ambiguity about those thoughts with this handy guide. Like real life, everyone has their quirks. Basically the only thing to keep in mind is "never Denethor. Never ever Denethor. Don't you ever." For another flight of fancy into the absurd details of a fictional universe, here's how Star Wars characters would take their coffee.

Embarrassing Times People Missed Obvious Hints

There's no perfect script for how a physical relationship should unfold. That means any interaction which might turn sexy can be fraught with ambiguities. As people, sometimes we're just not looking for those signals right away. That or we don't believe anyone would ever be as direct but also indirect as "can you help me change my sheets with me in them." Whether it's because people are scared, overly polite or totally oblivious, there are times guys miss obvious signals.

Twitter Thread: Birds Named By People That Have Beef With Birds

Seriously, if you ever think you're having a tough morning/afternoon/evening, maybe, just maybe, you'll be able to find some temporary solace in knowing that there's literally a species of bird out there in this wild world that's been named the Go-Away Bird. We're ready for more of these.

School Memes For The Mostly Educated

Sure, there are history memes for the already learned and work memes for those of us who made it out, but there remains a festering pile of memories in everyone regarding their time in school. The horrible group projects, the cringeworthy presentations, the stressful tests and the absurdity of it all left marks on all of us. Some of those marks are somewhat nice, like this nostalgic thread on elementary school, but a lot of them are just scars.

New Roommate Rents Two Rooms, Only Expects To Pay For One Room

Well oh well, this new roommate is coming in hot on the scene with all kinds of red flag behavior. Their reasoning for why they shouldn't be on the hook for paying for the 2/3 rooms that they're occupying is total nonsense. Sounds like the best move here could be to backtrack on this particular new roommate, and get someone new in there. For some more roommate drama check out this dude who reached his breaking point with some roommates over rent division.

Tumblr Breaks Down Young Adult Dystopian Fiction

Like Pixar movies and Harry Potter, the denizens of Tumblr have always had a strong knowledge of young adult dystopian fiction. For a while there it was like every new book for tweens was about a teenager in a messed up hierarchy forced to play games of death. There's nothing exactly wrong with that. It's just that like anything else, people's favorite books of their early teen years have become a coldly optimized version of themselves, designed to take advantage of a cultivated interest. Tumblr has a habit of noticing things, like when Tumblr broke down the nine types of movie posters.

Construction Crew Boss Takes Revenge On Vandals With Indestructible Stake

There are a surprising number of people out there that decide to take revenge on inconsiderate, downright belligerent drivers with indestructible mailboxes. In this case though, we have a construction crew boss who hit his breaking point when it came to the amount of nonsense and criminal behavior that he'd put up with from some vandals. Suffice to say, the revenge was swift and critically effective.

People's Finest Moments Of Revenge

Humans' capacity for enacting cunning and truly brutal revenges on one another is both impressive and vaguely terrifying. If anything it's revenge stories like the ones we have here that should serve as a solid reminder to treat other folks nicely. The last thing you'd want is to find yourself on the receiving end of one of these revenges because you wouldn't play nice with someone.

Oddly Satisfying Double Pitstop in F1

The flow is otherworldly. Just sitting back and watching this in action might remind you of your own life moments where everything seemed to work out just as you planned.

Dude Bumps Into Massive Sunfish, Sunfish Looks Otherworldly

Those Sunfishes are something else, man. They look like they're literally not of this dimension. Or like some aliens just dropped them off on planet earth to see how they'd fare. Also, can we take a moment of appreciation for the awesome amount of chill that sunfishes have.

Karen Coworker Spills Water All Over Power Outlets, Expects Sys Admin To Fix It

Sys admins have to put up with all kinds of unnecessary nonsense while on the job. It could be a panicked mom who washed her kid's computer and then didn't understand why it didn't work. Or perhaps, something more outright absurd like what we have here. The dude's Karen coworker spilled a whole ton of water all over some power outlets, and then "didn't understand" how that would manifest in the power being cut out in her work station. Was she just too embarrassed to own up to the truth, or what? That seems like the most believable possibility.
