Melanie needs to learn something about boundaries! Let's also acknowledge that her name just sounds like that of a needy, annoying coworker (sorry, I don't make the rules!). This thread was posted to Reddit's r/EntitledPeople subreddit by u/c4stoway.
Our hearts go out to the original poster, who has had to put up with this mean, 'fair weather' friend. We all have that coworker who only acts like you exist when they need a favor, and here's the thing: you simply do not owe that coworker anything, especially if it's a major inconvenience. Using your 15 minute break time to drive that coworker home (which would realistically take more like 45 minutes) certainly qualifies as a major inconvenience. The fact that Melanie refused to take no for an answer and wound up waiting around for over four hours only to ask the Redditor for a ride home yet again is just borderline stalker behavior. Not only is the Redditor totally justified in saying no, but she should also talk to her supervisor and ask to be kept away from Melanie as much as possible.
