'I'm just feeling a bit humiliated and unfairly called out': Professor tells college student to wear a longer skirt in a class-wide email

I don't see this ending well for the professor... This student, who shared her story via this thread on Reddit's r/college subreddit, prefaced her post by explaining that she is extremely cognizant about what she wears to class. On top of that, the professor has seemingly never had an issue with the student's dress code prior to this moment.

With all this in mind, it clearly came as a big surprise when the student found herself singled out and shamed in a class-wide email about the dress code for their upcoming presentations. If it were a serious issue, the professor should have pulled the student aside and had a private conversation. The public shaming is not only rude and unproductive, but it also will jeopardize the professor's reputation if the student chooses to get the dean involved. Several professors and students shared their thoughts about what the Redditor should do next in the comments section below. For more stories like this, here's one about another college student's petty revenge.
