Being a delivery driver is not an easy job. Sure, even hearing the phrase 'pizza delivery guy' paints a pretty clear picture in your mind of the stereotypical driver but that's all it is, a stereotype. In reality, delivery drivers are often tasked with excessively large volumes and clients to deliver to so there's often little margin for error or for anything to go sideways. But when your job consists of being on the move constantly driving through traffic in order to interact with completely random strangers, the only thing you can be certain of is that something is going to go wrong. It's not a job I'd like to do, even my first job as a beer merchandiser to legitimate businesses put me in some pretty vulnerable situations.
A whole army of delivery drivers gathered on this AskReddit thread to share their experiences during their travels in the trade. Some of these stories are truly shocking and better judgment urged me to remove the worst ones (you can still view these on the original thread if you're so inclined.) Still, some of them are strangely wholesome but not in a way that makes you want to take up the trade.
