Karen Demands Nonexistent Mystery Muffins, Manager Demands New-Hire Finds Them

You've just started working your brand new job at the muffin shop (Yeah, I know it's a cafe -same thing) you're full of that fresh youthful vigor that comes along with starting a job in a new place and looking forward to what the day brings.

"Oh boy! Can't wait to sell some muffins!" You think to yourself as your manager, Steve, sets you up to run the Front of House.

Your first customers of the day come in and you greet them with a cheery smile. Right off the bat, they're not reciprocating your attempts to be friendly to a fellow human being. You're just there to serve them, why would they owe you a shred of human decency?

They're demanding and entitled and begin asking for things that don't actually exist. As things escalate they demand to see Steve, who is frustrated at you now for bothering him, and proceeds to take Karen's side to save face and avoid conflict.

Now you're stuck between a brick wall and an angry bear with no way to escape and no solution to the problem at hand.

Repeat this daily and soon you, like any other retail or service worker, are dead inside behind your forced facade of a smile.
