A 48 cent tip on a 140 dollar bill is something like a 0.3% tip, right? At that point, we're just talking about a customer's attempt to insult their server. So how do you switch the power dynamic when some lady screams at you and tries to snidely insist your value is gutter-level? Well, in this person's case, they just didn't accept it.
The whole "customer is always right" mentality shouldn't empower customers to treat hardworking employees like garbage. But there are a whole lot of customers who seem to think that their mild inconvenience at the hands of a stressed-out employee is an affront to their grand omnipotence. Just cause someone hands you food doesn't mean they're a robot.
No, lady. You want to insult someone with a crap tip? You get your own crap tip back. Think about how you treat people for like a second.
For another compelling tale of a Karen not getting what she wanted, here's the infuriated dock Karen who was upset she couldn't rent a stranger's boat, and ended up getting covered in burrito.
