'She's bankrupt, I'm debt free': Boyfriend serves epic karma to cheating girlfriend by playing the long game

Breakups are never easy, especially if you're married and even more especially if one of the partners does something to sever the trust you two might of had. It's what heartbreak is. It takes a longtime for someone in a relationship to have that epiphany that it needs to end, and it never feels good when you have it, but at least you know what has to be done now.

A guy on Reddit recently shared his breakup drama from his past and his epic revenge he got one his cheating wife. He writes in r/pettyrevenge the long game he played to get his comeuppance. He found out that she had been cheating on him and just overall treating him poorly for a while now. So they split. However, they owned a home together and were splitting mortgage payments. After they split, he continued to pay his portion and even paid a head of time so he wouldn't have to worry. However, he found out that his toxic ex just stopped paying her half and was letting his advance payments over her. He was so upset, that he called the mortgage company and worked out a plan. He was going to stop paying his half and if she couldn't afford her half, they were welcomed to foreclose. The laws are different in Australia, where the poster is from, so since he was working on some sort of eventual payment plan with the mortgage company, his credit didn't suffer. However, his ex wife's did and she had to sell her car, file for bankruptcy, and overall her life took a hit by karma.

He eventually was able to buy back the house, move in with his new wife, and now they recently sold it for a little profit. So though it was the long game, taking years to unfold, he truly got the revenge he needed. Read the entire story below!

'She still looked upset': Bridesmaid insists on chocolate-free wedding

A bride and her bridesmaid are unsure what to do about this request from the bridesmaid, and it seems like no one can agree on the best course of action.

U/Old-Material-6136 wrote to r/AmItheA**hole seeking advice. It's a sticky situation, to be sure: she and her fiancé both adore chocolate, and it was even part of the way they met each other. They wanted to incorporate the chocolate theme into their wedding, which sounds delicious for almost everyone involved. One of the bridesmaids made it clear that she cannot have any chocolate, and has worries about the food being at the event.

20+ Marriage Fails for Bickering Couples

You're not a real couple if you don't bicker every now and then. It's part of the charm of being in a committed relationship. Personally, I'm of the opinion that healthy bickering can be a good thing, provided that both parties can laugh at the situation. Besides, the two of you are bound to annoy each other at some point, so you might as well make light of matters. That means occasionally pulling each other's leg and, respectfully and within reason of course, pushing each other's buttons.

If the following memes, tweets, and fails serve as any indication, healthy bickering is clearly a common occurrence. What's far less common are couples who pretend that absolutely everything is perfect 100% of the time. That's how divorce happens, whereas the couples who bicker healthily and joke about the highs and the lows are more likely to be the ones who last.

Job Applicant Undergoes Four Rounds of Interviews and Free Labor Only To Be Rejected

It's time to talk about all the free work people have to complete in order to just be considered for a job. Of course, we understand that assignments are sometimes necessary to see if what a candidate claims they can do can actually be done. But if the assignment is extensive and fully reflective of the workload they might take on for an actual project, pay them for it! If that's not possible, then demand less. All of this should be a two-way street.

This Redditor had to undergo four rounds of interviews and then a vague project, only to be rejected and told that they did not meet the expectations of the project. Apparently, they were expecting a full pitch deck with data despite not mentioning any of this information in the prompt. Unless you're hiring for the position of Mind Reader, this process is extremely unfair. Keep scrolling below to see what people had to say in the comments. For more, here's a story about a shady orientation.

'Give me my change!': Customer gets dozens of Sacagawea dollar coins as change for $100 bill after demanding ‘change’ for buying 10 cent candy

Dramatic customers are a dime a dozen, barking orders at cashiers, clerks, waiters, and the like, with a sure sense of entitlement that allows them access to the vast club of Karens. One customer approached an unsuspecting cashier, obviously in a bad mood, buying candy for ten cents, yet handing the cashier a $100 bill. The cashier explained he didn't have enough change, and offered the candy 'on the house'. The dude replied rudely, and demanded that the cashier do his job, adding that he is 'required by law' to give him change.

The cashier wasn't having it. But instead of denying the customer his request, he opted instead to give him exactly what he wanted. In other words, he maliciously complied. See, he gave him 99 Sacagawea coins, which are basically big dollar coins. They're not comfortable to handle, and they aren't quite the thing you'd like to carry around in the form of nearly $100. Scroll down to read about the customer's reaction.

'I walked out of a shady orientation': Job-seeker ditches out of orientation for new job after spotting red flags

Trying to find a new job is exhausting, essentially becoming a full-time job itself—which can make the prospect of finding a new job seem impossible when you're trying to escape your current terrible one. Writing cover letters for jobs you never hear back from, sitting multiple interviews only to be ghosted, and being intentionally misled about a job you've interviewed for all can be huge wastes of time, often wasting weeks of hard work and dashing hopes. On top of that, you now have to be incredibly wary of red flags that the job isn't a job at all, but rather part of some MLM scheme or a straight-up scam.

For one, when interviewing, you should always be wary of the "walk back" as a manipulation tactic. I don't know what this is actually called, but it's often used in sales and scams. The seller starts by offering something acceptable and slowly changes the terms of the deal to something that might have been unacceptable to start with but is now reluctantly accepted due to the sunk cost of invested time. Consecutive slight alterations to figures or terms should always raise red flags, and if something doesn't seem right, you should always trust your gut instinct, just as this job-seeker did.

Read on for their recount of their experience. Next,

'That never happened': Man gets revenge on gaslighting mom using the same toxic tactic she used when he was a little boy

Some folks are plagued by their childhood trauma for the rest of their lives, while others seek a different approach to the healing process: Revenge. One man on Reddit did what we all wish we had the strength to do and faced his childhood demons head on; in his case, that meant having a long, dragged out conversation with his narcissistic mother.

As a grown man, OP was determined to try and keep his relationship with his mom on good terms, however, she made it increasingly difficult by continuing her classic behavior of gaslighting him at every opportunity. With an already strained past, the man did his best to maintain contact between his family (his wife and small child included) and his aging, belittling mother, until he finally snapped. Technically, all he really did was pull an uno reverse card on her using her own words against her.

After she repeatedly tried to insert herself into his child's life. OP and his wife begged her not to buy him any more toys as they didn't have room for them, so when she did so anyways, they gave away the toys to their friends. Angry with their 'ungratefulness' the mom went off and trash talked them to the rest of the family and that's when OP lost it. Scroll for the full story on how OP got his revenge on his gaslighting mom and how he inspires us all to cut toxic family members out of our lives as soon as possible.

'Dumping [him] was the right decision': Couple breaks up, dude chops down 'their' special tree, she gets petty revenge

This is a great example of how petty revenge begets more petty revenge. In this story, a couple broke up after three years and the guy decided to chop down a special tree where they shared their first kiss. What a way to destroy any good memories the Redditor might keep.

Not only did she contact their property manager who made him get rid of the stump and plant a new willow tree, but also she refused to let him take a shower in her apartment afterward. This meant he had to get into his car completely covered in mud. Picturing the sight of him driving away like that, looking like a pile of dirt… I'm getting vicarious fulfillment just thinking about it.

'I scanned about $475 worth of stuff': Dad takes kids to grocery store and lets them snack on whatever they want, then leaves without paying

This dad acts like he's never been to a grocery store in his entire life. He threw a fit just because the self-checkout was too much for him to handle.

Self-checkout has become a way of life in many parts of the world, replacing cashiers with scanning machines you can operate yourself. This works well for many shoppers, because it means you don't have to wait as long in lines, and plenty of people like the privacy of not having to talk to anyone while they shop. But not everyone feels that way — this guy, for example, feels plenty entitled to having a cashier check him out.

I've seen freak outs over self-checkout lines before, so I'm inclined to believe this guy's terrible tale. Some people feel that when they're forced to scan their own items, they're "doing work" for the store. Then, they start yelling and requesting assistance, and the cashiers can't calm them down, because they're so worked up over this small slight. Some people just can't handle change, apparently.

'I [...] demanded that my boyfriend’s boss refunds me': Boss makes woman's boyfriend cancel vacation plans, she makes his boss pay her

This woman clearly really needs this vacation. Not only did she pay for everything beforehand herself, but when her boyfriend's boss made him cancel his plans three days before their trip, she refused to let this guy get off so easily. No, by this guy, we don't mean her boyfriend. We mean the boss.

She shared her story via this thread on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, and let's just say that the ruthless judges of the AITA community were not exactly sympathetic to her cause. They felt that she took things a bit too far and that this boss, while unreasonable, didn't owe her that money whatsoever. It's the boyfriend who owes her that money. It's the boyfriend who should have stood up to his boss and said no. At the end of the day, he's the one she should be upset with, and honestly, what's stopping her from taking a solo trip if she needs this vacation so badly?

'I became the HOA president': Resident gets even with neighbors who block his parking spot by joining HOA; becomes president, fines them

Karens infiltrate slowly into virtuous neighborhoods with a heavy sense of entitlement, ignoring HOA bylaws, under the assumption that they are divinely above it all. In this case, OP had a couple of parking spots that were legally his, that were occasionally empty. Whether they were occupied or not, OP's new neighbors took advantage of the Australian law which was lacking in the car parking department, and decidedly parked their own cars in those spots. They also began inviting family, friends, and other people to park there as well. They ended up continuously blocking OP's car, or taking his spot. At first, OP communicated, but realized quickly that wasn't going to cut it.

So he began hatching his plan for revenge… deciding to take it to the next level, and play the long game. His efforts certainly paid off. In Australia, they have what we would (more or less) call an HOA, but they call it the 'strata committee'. OP joined this committee, and within 6 months was elected president. He made sure that his neighbors paid heavy fines, and generally made parking an extremely miserable sport.

'Got engaged to a horse girl': 20+ Things people wish they could redo from their youth

These people had jokes and great advice of what to do and not do while you're young. If you are young, take notes!

Being in your 20s is a wild ride. You're a teenager for a long time, then suddenly, you're out in the real world, getting a job, getting married, having kids… or just watching as your friends and colleagues do those things. While you might be the same age as your friend group, suddenly you all have different responsibilities in life. There's also just a lot of freedom in your 20s. You can do as you please, and no one will really stop you, so you'd better make sure you're looking ahead to your future! As one person suggested, it's pretty silly not to plan for the long term and medium term future. That's great advice, and the people below shared their own sage wisdom and cautionary tales below.

'She wanted them in a week': Cupcake baker takes order for a friend, suddenly raises the price of the order

A disagreement over cupcakes is tearing these two friends apart.

Baking cupcakes and cakes for a living is one of those dream jobs that sounds super fun, and is actually a very lot of work. Unless you see behind the scenes, as a customer, you just can't understand what goes into creating professional baked goods.

Many bakers do post behind the scenes videos on their social media pages, and it's incredible the amount of skill and technique necessary for these desserts. Some bakers use premium ingredients and expert tools. Sometimes they have to rent out kitchen spaces to do that, adding even more costs to them. Then you get to the actual decorating and packaging of the product, which again, takes lots of time and specialized skills.

All of which is to say, this baker wrote to r/AmItheA**hole, asking about an argument with their friend. This is one of those cases where the OP told a story, then the comments added some more really interesting details. We've saved the best OP comment for last!

'She was livid': Husband trades seats with a mother and her crying baby on a long flight to 'teach his wife a lesson'

There's nothing worse than being stuck next to a crying baby on a plane. Obviously, being an adult, you're supposed to apparently just turn your ears off for however long your flight is, enduring the screeching screams of the wailing infant next to you– they're the one that's uncomfortable, okay? Of course, they can't help it, they're just a baby and without a doubt, their sleep-deprived parent is also counting down the seconds until the end of the flight just as much as you are.

One woman couldn't contain her fury as she and her husband heard the distant sounds of a newborn screamer in economy class as they boarded into their first class seats for their 8 hour flight. The husband hated that she was complaining so much and figured he would teach her a lesson about having a little more grace with children on a plane. Without thinking much, the husband decided to trade seats with the new mother, forcing his wife to sit next to the new baby for the next 8 hours.

Perhaps in that time they reconciled their differences. Do you think the husband taught her a good lesson here? Or is he simply a vindictive man-child who's a bigger baby than the 15 week old crier in economy class? Well, either way, he wielded the pain of the new mother with the hopes of converting his angry wife into a complacent, meditative traveler. Scroll to see how things really went down at 20,000ft.

'I'm going to sue you': Male Karen claims he slipped in the store the night before, story doesn't add up, he vows to sue anyway

Some people just want to make a scene. There might be zero evidence or justification for their actions. There might not even be a plan to pursue things further down the road. Clearly, however, that didn't matter to this male Karen, also known as Kevin on the Internet. Kevin claimed that he slipped and fell on the wet floor the night before and brought it to the attention of the Redditor, who was working during that time.

Although the Redditor did admit that they had just mopped the floors that night and forgot to put up "wet floor" signs, Kevin's story increasingly made less and less sense as he made his case to OP's manager and supervisor. In fact, when the manager finally got on the phone to make a formal complaint on Kevin's behalf, Kevin refused to give his contact information. If that's not a sign that all of this was fabricated or at least blown out of proportion, I don't know what is.

‘Next time, say please': Couple posts neighbors' sawhorses on Craigslist as ‘free’ after parking debacle

New neighbors can bring about a carnival of chaos, simultaneously disrespecting you and your property, feeling entitled to your parking space, etc. Put simply, it's a hit or a miss. You're either very fond of them, find them tolerable, or despise their very presence. In this case, OP took to r/pettyrevenge, explaining how they got even with their (frankly, normal) neighbors. OP got upset over a 'rude note' that their neighbors left on the windshield of their car after OP had parked on their property. The note read, 'Do not park here', and OP couldn't get over the 'inexcusable' fact that they hadn't added the word, 'Please'.

So OP hatched a plan for revenge, which consisted of posting a local ad on Craiglist, listing the sawhorses their neighbors put on their driveway as 'free', including a pickup address. The sense of entitlement on this one is kind of flabbergasting. Scroll down to read what happened next. For more stories like this one, here is an employee who maliciously complied with her boss after she was given a ridiculous uniform that didn't suit their job, and was told to 'stay at their desk'.

'You should fire them!' Karen demands fellow customer is fired from a place she doesn't work

There are a lot of challenging things about working retail, but by far, the most challenging is dealing with entitled customers. It never ceases to amaze you… the types of people you encounter when working these jobs. The very idea of receiving the most base levels of "service" gets some people foaming at the mouth as they rabidly seek to wield the most assuredly strained semblance of power.

This lust is blinding, and soon they no longer recognize "friend" from "foe," turning on fellow customers and treating them as if they and the staff are one and the same. Things will occasionally escalate to the point that the entitled person, still refusing to listen to reason and refusing to accept the fact that the customer is not a staff member, will demand the customer be fired. The ensuing shock and wily actions of others involved then create some interesting situations.

When this Karen was refused the help she demanded from a fellow customer at a game shop, she then demanded that the customer be fired. Read on to see the result and some of the reactions. Next, check out this Karen, who accosted a restaurant manager at a place they didn't work just because they were nice to a server who worked there.

'AITA for adjusting the thermostat at my in-law's house and not letting them adjust it at mine?': Family's thermostat battle heats up

Few family arguments get more—well… heated than the arguments that emerge over the thermostat and its setting. With different groups and subgroups of people fiercely insisting on wildly different settings that agree with their specific preferences—things can get cold-blooded.

Speaking of cold-blooded: That's exactly what this guy's lizard-person relatives are. Who in their right mind chooses to exist in 80° F heat when you could just as easily not? These in-laws must spend most of their time basking in the sun on a rock and flicking insects with their tongues.

This guy posted to Reddit's r/AmItheA**whole subreddit to see whether or not he was in the wrong for insisting on a double standard when it came to the temperature settings in his and his in-law's houses.

The majority of Redditors seem to think that he's in the wrong, but after going over the post a few times and weighing up the facts—I think I disagree.

Normally, setting a double standard would automatically make you the a-hole in a situation without exception.

Enter: The exception.

It's hard to say that someone is in the wrong when the argument is with someone whose preferences are wildly unreasonable. Just because you enjoy existing on the surface of the sun doesn't mean other people will.

OP does end up in the wrong here for forbidding the in-laws to change the thermostat at his house when it was his wife who changed it. It sounds like that should have been a private conversation first between the couple; she gets just as much of a say as he does.

That's my take. What's yours? Let us know.

'We prefer workers who sit at desks in chairs': Candidate with back problems gets kicked out of Zoom interview because he wasn't sitting at a desk

We've all been given radio silence from recruiters before, but this is a new level of savage ghosting from a potential employer. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by u/DentistThink4578, who opened up about a horrible Zoom interview experience he had recently.

The original poster has serious back problems that make sitting in an office chair hard to do (hence, the need to work remotely). During the interview, he set up his laptop on a lap desk and used a neutral background. It was about as professional as it could be given his condition, but no less than two minutes into the interview, the Redditor found himself cut off mid-sentence. He checked to see what happened and learned that he had been kicked out of the Zoom interview and blocked with a single departing message explaining that "we prefer workers who sit at desks in chairs." The audacity of this interviewer to go about it this way rather than politely ask if there was a reason for the Redditor's setup just goes to show how tone-deaf employers are these days.

'Street justice': Toxic older sibling redeems himself by standing up to late mother's vulture "friends" trying to claim her things

Nothing can be more difficult for a child than losing a parent. Even if it's a complicated family relationship, that kind of loss is heavily felt, especially when experiencing it as a kid. Recently, a Redditor shared the story of her complicated family life and when she lost her mother.

On the subreddit thread r/EntitledPeople, she shares the heartbreaking story of her mothers vulture "friends." He mother was very sick and when she passed, she reported it and everyone in the neighborhood watched. After her mother was taken away, her fake friends came rushing in and started fighting over her things. The Reddit poster said that her mother was a very beautiful redhead that had great style. Since she was just a kid, she couldn't stop her mother's entitled friends from ravaging all her mother's belongings. There was one dress in particular, a green silk dress, that was her mother's well-known statement piece. The vultures fought over it, but one eventually was able to lock it in her car.

While this is happening, her older siblings were coming home from high school. Her oldest brother, a 17-year-old drvg dealer, was feared amongst the family and even the neighborhood. The reddit poster said she was actually terrified of her brother and experienced lots of anger from him. However, in the moment the sadness of losing her mother consumed her, and she went to him and silently showed him their mother's green dress along with a pile of their mother's stuff inside one of their mother's "friend's" car.

That was their only sibling exchange until the funeral. The reddit poster says her brother really stepped up for the wake and was a different person. He stood tall and made sure all his siblings were okay. The part that truly redeemed him for the family is when they saw their mother, laying their looking peaceful in her beautiful green silk dress. The reddit poster never asked how he did it, but in that moment she finally was sure that, despite all of his issues, her brother really does love this family. Scroll on to read the entire story.

‘I’m frankly disgusted': Karen offers $140 to buy a rare Pokemon card worth $20,000, then goes berserk on her son's after-school counselor when he tells her 'it's not for sale'

Kids love Pokemon. The idea of training a powerful imaginary creature that equal parts lethal as they are adorable is intoxicating. As we grow up, the nostalgic element of the Poke-franchise evolves into a monetized machine, but the joys of sharing rare cards and talking about your favorite Pokemon is something that never loses value. One Pokemon lover and volunteer childcare worker recently discovered exactly how tainted Pokemon trade can become when folks lose sight of the original pleasures of the game (ie: when Karens get involved).

As a person who works with kiddos regularly, OP (aka u/dingomatemybaby), was excited to bring a rare Pokemon card that he owned to the after school program's show-and-tell. This kids were thrilled to take a look at such a rare card, a mint condition Charizard that resells for $15,000-$20,000 on Ebay. One boy in particular grew especially fond of the card and went home to tell his mommy all about it.

Sure enough, the mom immediately texted OP offering to buy the card as a gift for her son's birthday. She came prepared to make an offer of course and sent him a link to some random Charizard card on Ebay that was selling for $140. Thinking she was offering a fair bargain, she told OP that she would give him $140 in cash to buy it from him. He respectfully declined, claiming the card was worth far more than that and was not for sale.

Karen persisted then lost her marbles when she was continually denied, but OP put her in her place.

OP brought the same hostile energy to the table that Karen did and clapped back with some of the best comebacks we've ever seen. Scroll to read the rest of the chat thread, destroying this Karen mom and learning her lesson. Top Coworker Memes for Understaffed Teams of Employees With One Foot Out the Door (May 3, 2023)

Claiming overtime gives us brief jolts of joy when receiving our monthly paycheck, but the reason for said overtime is that we're seriously understaffed, so although we can hear the cha-ching of dollar bills entering our sad accounts, our sanity has slowly declined. Employees have been complaining about this lack of manpower for longer than they care to remember, and although bosses around the globe have continuously assured everyone that there will be new hires, it's simply not happening.

Moods decline and the atmosphere at work becomes like a 7th-grade classroom, where everyone acts like they're better than everyone else; so working with other people, AKA coworkers, which was tiresome, becomes a nightmare. You find yourself wondering, why didn't you learn code back in the day? Your legs would be propped up on a hardwood oak table, sitting on a silk chair, your ears covered by the latest Apple technology which drowns out your neighbors singing in the shower.

But alas, you don't work in tech, and your salary makes you want to scream at the poor barista who didn't get your coffee right because 4 dollars for a coffee is a lot, and you would like to get your money's worth, thank you very much. Below you'll find some hilarious coworker memes to better your day. Also, smile at your barista. They're going through a lot. For more like this, here are some more coworker memes to share with your office Karen.

'AITA for not giving my coworker my day off?': Coworker demands guy's leave that he booked to play the new Zelda game

Let's be real… We've all had that one coworker who is always coming in late and leaving early to pick up their kids. No big deal, right? Everyone deserves to have a flexible working arrangement. But, when that flexibility and those considerations aren't offered to other workers, and it places more work or undesirable shifts on those workers' shoulders, it becomes a problem.

Reddit especially champions the idea that those with kids shouldn't expect special treatment over their coworkers who are childless and this sentiment also extends to the topic of scheduled leave from work. A lot of workplaces schedule leave on a "first come, first serve" basis, leaving chronic procrastinators like myself permanently out of luck for hotly-contested weekends. Disputes will then often emerge around these dates as to who has the best claim or best reason for wanting to take leave, with claimants almost always trying to distract away from the fact that they weren't the first to claim.

Enter: This guy—who booked leave just before Mother's Day weekend so that he could play the new Zelda game all day when it drops. This drew the ire of his coworker, who wanted the day off to spend a three-day Mother's Day weekend with her kids. The confrontation caused the guy to turn to Reddit's r/AmItheA**hole subreddit to see whether or not he was in the wrong for refusing to relinquish his claimed day.

Readers seemed to predominantly take his side, declaring him not to be the a-hole in this situation. Read on and let us know your take.

Afterward, check out this worker whose "prankster" coworker was causing them to lose their sanity.

'Kevin thinks he can speak every language in the world': Cringy dude believes he's 'impressing' foreign clients, embarrasses coworkers instead

We all have that one colleague who's a total show off. They like to claim that they were heading up a project, when actually they barely did any work on it. Or they try to schmooze with clients and C-suite employees, only to come off as arrogant and irritating. People like this exist everywhere, but not everyone is quite as confident in their abilities as this crazy Kevin!

At least this guy didn't get away unscathed. The OP, u/UnlikelyAlternative, writes that after Kevin's big goof with some clients from abroad, his "delusions of linguistic grandeur" made him a laughing stock. He's never going to recover his credibility after something as stupid as that.

'We sent 10,000 copies of a useless calendar to a client': 20+ People who are face-palming over their coworkers' mistakes

Every job requires you to have coworkers, whether you want to or not. These people encountered some coworkers who made extra dumb mistakes — and some are more dangerous than others.

The r/AskReddit community answered the question, "What's the dumbest mistake you've seen an incompetent coworker make?" And I am shocked at some of the answers. People wrote in from all walks of life, from lawyers to pet shop workers to designers.

Everyone makes mistakes, but some people don't handle that well. It seems like a lot of the stories stem from people either not caring about their job, or making careless mistakes and then lying about it. That just makes things worse in the long run — for that person, and for the coworkers that need to clean up the messes.

Next, check out another work story: this person was interviewing a friend of a friend for a job. It was all going smoothly, until that person told them something alarming in a DM.

'She messed with the wrong student; she never complained again': Barista student schools Karen customer after one too many coffee ‘remakes’

Working in customer service, hospitality, retail, or any other field that requires you to have human interaction with Karens on a daily basis, gives you a strong backbone you never asked for, and bucketloads of apathy. At first, you feel like a failure when a customer screams at you, demanding a free refill because your coffee tastes like the back of a dump truck. You realize it's ridiculous that a total stranger has the power to make you feel like a blundering fool, all over a cup of coffee. Eventually, you become passive to high-pitched requests and can win a staring contest with a troll.

In this case, a student was studying at a hospitality school and had to make coffee as part of their classes. OP explained that they dealt with difficult customers on a daily basis, stating they were actually 'the worst of the worst'. One customer in particular, who we'll call 'Ellen', made OP's life particularly miserable, resending her coffee back every single time she got it because it wasn't 'hot enough'. OP observed that Ellen was letting her coffee sit in front of her grubby fingers for about 10 minutes before complaining each time, so OP realized that the culprit was in fact, time, rather than her own coffee-making skills.

Ellen continuously harassed the working students, obviously leading a very miserable existence and deciding to take it out on poor, unassuming souls. So OP hatched a plan that included some good old petty revenge. Scroll down to read the full, detailed account of events. 'They are not qualified': Worker blocks old coworker and boss's applications when they interview at worker's new company

It always pays to be kind—or at least decent. You never know when that karmic pendulum is going to swing right back at you and knock you on your rear… The world is a far smaller place than we take it to be and only gets smaller as you isolate down into the people you're likely to interact with based on demographics. Within a given industry, it's more than likely that you'll encounter the same people over the course of years spent in different jobs, even if you move cities.

This idea gives rise to the famous anecdote/cliche about a candidate rushing to get to a job interview. As they enter the lobby of the business where they're interviewing, they neglect to hold the door for the person behind them, instead allowing it to fly back into their face. The candidate approaches the receptionist to let them know they've arrived and is made to wait momentarily before being ushered into the room. In the room waits the CEO of the business who is interviewing them… the very person they neglected to hold the door open for.

There are hundreds of variations of this that play out in different media, including at least one episode of every sitcom. But it all hails back to this idea that you should always be decent to others, and if you slip up, it will backfire on you spectacularly.

This worker shared the story of their chance to be the deliverer of this karmic justice after being granted the ability to weigh in on their former boss and coworker's applications to their new employer.
