'It is my turn to be selfish': 20 Wedding and Bridezilla Fails

Weddings seem to be trendy at the moment, which means the bridezillas of the world are emerging. The thing about bridezillas is they come in many shapes, sizes, and personalities. From personal experience, there are the bridezillas that you always knew would be bridezillas, the ones you think will be bridezillas who turn out to be shockingly fine, and the bridezillas who you never would have expected would be bridezillas. The latter, of course, is the most shocking breed of bridezilla. 

 

For the purposes of this post, we also want to acknowledge that we are using bridezilla as a gender-neutral term despite the term's history and implications because, as I have also seen from personal experience, I have witnessed some pretty frantic, anxious, crazy grooms in my lifetime. So, before you keep scrolling to take a look at these wedding fails, let's remind ourselves that anyone can be entitled, selfish, and crazy. 'Are they just [THAT] afraid of confrontation': Millennial boss sparks discussion about "ghost quitting" and whether it's a Gen Z thing or a minimum wage job thing

Have you ever started working a job that you quickly realized you did not enjoy and wanted to peace out as fast as possible from? You can't usually do this with big fancy jobs, but something like you just got hired at a fast-food restaurant or some retail shop? It's pretty easy to just leave after lunch and ghost. One millennial manager reached out to Reddit on r/smallbusiness asking if any other managers were experiencing this thing she called "ghost quitting" and if it was a generational thing—she specifically contributed it to Gen Z.

The small business owner seems to run a pretty smoother operation. She pays competitive wages, has very flexible scheduling, no early mornings or late nights, and many of her employees have been working for her for several years—one has even been there for over 15 years! So she cannot understand why multiple times now she hires a new employee and they simply ghost, no two-weeks notice or even a simply "I quit" note. As a small business, she checks in on the well-being of all her employees, so when they ghost quit like that it is upsetting and she has even come close to filling a missing persons report. 

This has happened to this millennial manager only by Gen Z, so she wonders if it is just something that generation does because they are afraid to face any sort of confrontation. However, in a shocking turn of events, millennials and Gen X have come to an agreement and DON'T blame the Gen Z. They say it is simply a low wage job-thing. If it is a job that is hardly paying them enough to live off of, then many people simply don't want to give anymore effort and that includes the effort of going through the professional steps of quitting.

It's no secret that entitled people consider themself to be immune to the social courtesies and rules that the rest of us follow. They think that an action is just fine as long as it gets them ahead.

There are your bulk-standard entitled acts, and then there are extremely petty acts like this. There's such a minor benefit to be had in a "grocery store fuel rewards heist" that it's especially insane to undertake that behavior. Like, bro, you're really going to steal my $0.05/gallon fuel discount? That's worth flouting social norms over? 

Go rob a casino or something with your ten closest friends and get some real money.

Redditor u/Bungee-Cord-Thrwaway shared their story of running into an entitled individual at their local supermarket. Shockingly, according to the store manager and grocery workers who responded in the comments, this behavior is incredibly common.

Update! 'I finally left [nightmare] workplace': Overworked IT employee shares how their final two weeks went at their toxic job after epically quitting

When you are working in a toxic place, nothing is ever easy—that especially includes quitting. You either quit burning all the bridges behind you or you grit your teeth and try to leave in a way that keeps your professional status, even though your toxic managers and coworkers are making it super difficult. One IT employee needed to quit their toxic job, so they did just that. However, their last two week there were worst than heII. This was a long saga (see Part 1 and Part two) about quitting a very toxic work environment. 

After she put in her two weeks, her bosses immediately started bulling her into taking a consulting position. Maybe if she wasn't so miserable with them she would have done it, but she needed to get away from their toxicity asap so she refused. They kept bullying her and even tried threatening her with lawyers, but she stayed strong. She said it was the worst two weeks of her life, but she was finally able to leave! She is even considering blocking all her contacts from that job.

'He tried to ruin my chances': Employee poached by new company with double the salary, old boss calls company and tries to sabotage employee

Moral of the story: don't give your boss more information than what's necessary. In this case, this employee made the mistake of telling his boss the name of the company that poached him with an enticing offer of double the salary. The employee wasn't even looking for another job, but as they say in The Godfather, it was an offer he couldn't refuse.

 

So what happened after he gave two weeks and mistakenly revealed the name of the new company to his now former boss? Well, that boss literally called up the Redditor's new boss and tried to sabotage his chances. Luckily, nothing materialized and the Redditor's new job was completely safe, but if I were him, I would leave the old job immediately no matter how many days of those two weeks have passed. Many folks in the comments suggest the same thing. He doesn't owe his former boss anything, especially after that nonsense.

‘I contacted the BSA, which led to the company’s demise': Boss refuses to pay employee for labor, employee contacts BSA as revenge, leading to company's financial destruction

Every company is, and rightfully should be, afraid of the alliance of software publishers, otherwise known as the 'BSA'. Their job is to properly enforce licensing, and they do so with pure vigor. This boss did not take a fed-up 'employee' into account when he refused to pay him his wages. The employee in question ran a small IT consulting company of his own and was convinced into doing a job for a software company his friend worked for. This is where the 'boss' came into play. OP did the work, but the boss flat out refused to pay him, saying, 'Sue me'.

So OP did. But it was a long, tiring process and ended up costing a lot more than he had anticipated. At first, he let it go, but eventually, he learned that his friend had quit, and also hadn't received money that was rightfully his. So OP took action… and that action involved talking to the BSA, as he was aware that they would be interested in this particular company.

It led, quite literally, to the company's demise. The huge settlement ruined the company, and the owner had to shut down the firm. The moral of the story: Don't mess with people's paychecks.

'I was miserable the whole time': Mom plans birthday party for daughter, but her daughter is determined to make the guests uncomfortable

This woman's been living with her mother for her whole life, yet her mom still managed to get under her skin with this birthday party.

The issue is that while living with her mother, she feel indebted to her, and goes along with her mother's "incredibly controlling" plans. It came to a head on the OP's birthday,  when the OP planned a party with friends. She requested that her mom not invite guests over to the house, however, and her mom just ignored her. 

The OP then proceeded to take her anger out on her guests and her mom, and one can only imagine the kind of awkwardness that must have resulted. The OP describes glaring daggers at her guests… why would she think that was okay to do to her guests?

'I feel like a court jester': Humiliated waitress refuses to sing 'Happy Birthday' to customers, gets scolded by management then required to sing in Italian instead

There's nothing more cringey than that sinking feeling in your gut when you hear restaurant waitstaff emerging from the kitchen with a sparkling dessert in hand and a birthday song on their lips. For some, even when it's not even their birthday, this public hooplah sends them into a fight-or-flight response. As a server, singing for your guests is either going to make or break the job. For notorious extroverts (and unnaturally confident folks who are working on an amateur singing career), entertaining the customer is the best part of the job. For regular people and MOST servers, this is their biggest nightmare. 

One woman named Katelyn, a waitress at an upscale Italian restaurant, recently almost lost her job because she refused to sing happy birthday (as a solo performer, by the way) in front of a restaurant full of people. Her managers approached their "request" for her to sing in a demeaning way and it was more of an order than it was an option. Yikes. Katelyn had feeble attempts to avoid singing to strangely eager customers by simply wishing them happy days and good celebrations, which is a much classier approach to a birthday celebration. 

Finally, after several successful weeks of avoiding public humiliation, a table asked if she could sing the birthday song in Italian instead. Katelyn did not speak Italian, so she declined. Once management found out, they t old her to Google the lyrics in a foreign language and simply memorize it in 2 minutes before singing to their table for dessert. 

As if singing in your own native language was embarrassing enough, Katelyn pushed through and did her performance, only to have the Karen complain to management that she wasn't singing loudly or robustly enough. As if the shame wasn't enough, her boss sent a text the next morning saying how disappointed he was with her.

Sometimes, giving someone a taste of their own medicine is the only way to deliver your message. In this instance, we're dealing with a restless job applicant who is clearly at his wit's end. After applying to countless positions and coming across red flag after red flag during the interview process, he decided to flip the script, so to speak, by drafting a mass email used to reject these subpar offers. 

 

Now, is this enjoyable from an objective perspective? Yes. However, as some folks in the comments have pointed out, it's not exactly the wisest decision. I mean, it's certainly not the most professional choice either. But for those of us who have no stake whatsoever in this guy's job application process, it's an enjoyable treat, and here's hoping that one of these recruiters actually responds to this email. Entitled Karen Goes Into Full Rage Mode at Movie Theater, Guy Dumps His Water Bottle on Her

There's nothing like an all-out brawl with a Karen at the movie theater to make the moviegoing experience all the more memorable. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/EntitledPeople subreddit by u/NoStateGreenery, who shared an anecdote about an upper-class Karen, her balding boyfriend, and an impulsive choice to dump a water bottle on them to defend his mother. 

 

The Redditor's mother was trying to avoid the large crowd exiting the theater at the end of the film because she has a bad knee. When she came across Karen and her beau, they wouldn't let her pass because they wanted to watch the credits. They harassed the original poster's mom to the point that she was crying, and that's when her son stepped in to defend her. Did he have to dump the contents of his water bottle on them? No. Is it a satisfying reading experience to hear about that choice and the subsequent fight that followed? Yes! Yes! A thousand times, Yes!

We're all pretending to be someone we're not. Whether it's putting on our "business persona" during office hours to conform to corporate life or trying to fit in with a new friend group—we all do some level of managing how we want to be perceived by others. 

Catfishes take this to another level, building an entirely new identity online to experience the thrill of being someone they're not or escape from their own reality—sometimes getting so deeply lost in it that there's no turning back. Usually, a catfish's intentions aren't nefarious (at least initially), but sometimes the catfish creates the persona from the get-go with the scam in mind.

It is surprisingly unsurprising that water parks attract the Karens of this world. Here is a tale of generational Karens, in which an entitled teenager taunted a lifeguard after numerous warnings. Matters were, of course, made worse when the teenager's grandmother got involved, proving just where this young girl inherited this unacceptable behavior.

 

The grandmother threw a tantrum of her own that you'll just have to read to believe. Thankfully, the lifeguard's superior sided with him rather than with Karen and Karen-in-the-making. At the end of the day, the two were actually kicked out of the whole park. It's continually shocking that Karens believe they can exhibit this behavior to employees, but even more shocking that they think they can get away with actions that are not only verbal but physical too. What world are we living in these days?

Although there are some days, despite coffee's best efforts, that you're still dragging. It's probably because your work is futile and even though they promised you a "fast paced environment", time comes to a standstill the moment you clock in. At least you know one thing is for certain, the coffee pot in the break room will be burning that weak cup of Joe all day, begging you to come snag another mug-full. 'I am not demanding': Demanding manager demands worker cover shift on their day off, demands their cooperation after they quit

If you have to claim that you are or aren't something, it's incredibly likely that you aren't or are that thing. It's like having that one friend who tells you that they hate drama, yet whenever drama happens, they're right there in the thick of it. So, when your boss tells you that they aren't demanding while they're in the middle of being demanding, it's likely their ego is just deflecting.

This discussion came to the forefront when an employee received a text from their boss asking them to come in to cover a shift for their coworker. When they responded that they could not come in because they were studying for an exam, the boss said they were "expected to be available for tonight's shift." Things escalated to the boss saying they were "disappointed," and the employee decided it was time to walk away from the job. We're starting to see so many posts like this it makes you wonder… just how prevalent is this in shift work?

This post was posted to the r/antiwork subreddit by Redditor u/Hoodtho after the incident. They shared screenshots of the exchange between them and their boss titled "Happened on Tuesday but [middle finger emoji] this idiot." The thread has hit the top of the subreddit with 21k upvotes.

'I unloaded all the rubbish right back on to his driveway' : Contractor takes petty revenge on entitled customer in breach of price agreement

As someone offering your services to a customer, you give a price, and the customer tries to bargain said price… that's just how it goes. It's a frustrating, but necessary, part of the job. However, when a customer attempts bargaining AFTER you've completed the work… well, that's a whole different story. After settling on a price, you shouldn't have to deal with someone who refuses to pay that cost. That is what happened to a contractor who collected rubbish for a customer who decided after the fact that it was 'too expensive.'

After a few choice words, the contractor decided to drive off, upset that he had wasted half a day. He wasn't exactly drowning in money. As he was heading off, he was hit — with a brilliant idea. He made a quick u-turn and dumped all the rubbish right back onto the shocked customer's driveway (who, mind you, was freaking out by this time). Scroll down to see what happened next.

Expecting your workers to attend hour-long meetings on their day off without receiving any compensation, let alone acknowledgment, is effectively a theft of wages. So to turn around and accuse those same workers of theft for claiming that time is quite outrageous.  

 

 

'If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it': Manager creates mandatory lunch break schedule, employee finds loophole to get paid overtime

This guy managed to find a way to get paid during an unpaid lunch break. Here's what happened. His new manager, Dave, decided to step in and enforce a ridiculous new policy in which he assigned everyone lunch times. Unfortunately, the Redditor learned that their assigned time would be during their most productive time of day when they usually schedule meetings and calls.

 

So rather than reschedule all those meetings and calls, the employee decided to keep them because there's a policy in their contract that any work during an unpaid lunch break must be paid in overtime. After submitting a detailed report to Dave by the end of the week to ensure that they were compensated for that "extra" work, Dave realized just how nonsensical the lunch break policy really was.
