This user posted to Reddit to explain their most recent run-in with an aggressive stranger who had some unwanted advice for the OP. While the OP was searching for a new job and weathering the stress of interviewing, they decided to grab a meal with a friend. But suddenly, a random stranger walked up to the group and said, "Have you tried wearing a shirt and tie?"

Ah, the entitlement never ends! This Redditor has an endlessly entertaining series they dubbed "Tales from the Compound," which details their experiences growing up among a community of entitled neighbors in a shared compound in Dubai.

 

This thread, which serves as the latest update in the "Tales from the Compound" saga and which was posted on Reddit's r/EntitledPeople subreddit, deals with two children (Anna and Francis) who literally broke into the Redditor's backyard and destroyed their private garden. These kids were so entitled they made threats they couldn't even make, such as lying about how their parents owned the compound and could kick the Redditor and their family out of the neighborhood if they wanted. Luckily, the Redditor later learned that this was a complete lie, but not without some more ridiculous behavior from Anna and Francis's entitled mother.

'We don't take cash': Apartment manager demands former tenant write a check for 2 cents? Cue malicious compliance!

There is nothing more ridiculous than writing a check for two cents! This thread was posted on Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/lentesta, who recounted how he and his wife received a follow-up bill from their former apartment management company for $0.02. They complied and attempted to make that already stupid payment in person, but the manager of the complex refused to take cash or write off the payment.

 

So naturally, this infuriated the Redditor, who proceeded to write a check for $0.03 and then asked to have a check sent back to them for the overpayment. This went on for enough time that they received the kind of apology you can only dream of from an apartment manager. Now personally, I would not have the time or bandwidth to commit to this kind of malicious compliance, but you have to hand it to the Redditor and his wife for pulling it off.

Aunt okays nephew's outrageous wedding outfit and overrules his mother's wishes

Can we still be an a-hole if our intent was well-meaning? Well, probably. That's the answer that Reddit gave this aunt after she approved her nephew's super-extra outfit for her wedding, which — it turns out, was a really bad idea. 

The big short of the situation is this: The super cool aunt and her fiancé are pretty artsy people; they wanted people to dress in whatever colors and manner they preferred, just as long as it was nice and a little bit "fancy." Her nephew really took to this idea and ran with it, he had this entire outfit planned out, putting careful thought into every detail. Except, when he went to his mother for approval, she vetoed the idea, so he turned to his aunt for approval, which she gave, despite knowing that his mother had already said "no."

The aunt posted her story to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A**hole) subreddit to see whether or not she was in the wrong for the actions that she took and for her part in this debacle. Reddit was pretty ruthless in declaring that she was, in fact, the a-hole.

This bridesmaid did not hold back when she was asked a pretty awkward question by someone she literally just met. Posted to the r/ChoosingBeggars subreddit, this woman detailed the story and shared screenshots of their text conversation. Basically, the OP went to a wedding and gave an exceptionally nice gift. She met a woman there who she barely knows - and this "Beggar Bride" reached out with an interesting request. It starts innocently enough: the bride remembered OP from the wedding and wants to ask her a question. She sends a text noting that she had someone drop out of her wedding party and now, she probably needs some extra wedding presents. This bride adds that she does have a registry but she drops a bombshell at the end of their text conversation, sparking discussions in the comments section. This is one bride who won't be getting an invite to the OP's wedding any time soon.

The story dates back to when she was finishing her own bachelor's degree - she was just getting started in a specific emerging field of technology and was hired for a brand new department that hadn't yet begun to take off. The other departments were for some reason, opposed to the service that she would provide - so much so, that the leaders of the other departments conspired against her, and did everything in their power not to give her an office. It worked, and she didn't have any normal place to work. She could have loudly exposed them, but decided against it - instead she realized that she could get exactly what she wanted and make them look dumb in the process - without ever saying a word. So she did her job wherever she could find a place to do so, such as the mail room. Her plan was that people would notice and eventually confront her about it… She wasn't wrong. One day, the President came through the mail room, stopped for a second, and asked her why she wasn't working in her own office - she was clearly annoyed. Our dear smart Redditor explained sweetly that she didn't have an office, and boy did that set the President off… She asked her a few questions, and after some very unsatisfactory answers, she stomped off to deal with the problem - and boy, did she deal with the problem. It was an absolute success.

Highlights include plenty of petty thoughts about young people and their relationship with work, a rebuke of contemporary feelings about the workforce, and clearly biased thoughts about leadership and authority. Just scrolling through these made me cringe. 

 

It just goes to show how insecure employers are these days about hiring employees with the backbone to reject messed up leadership structures. Clearly, the people who drafted this job application need to get over themselves and get with the times. Otherwise, they're never going to fill that position at the front desk.
