‘You can’t stay here': Karen demands refund for hotel room she never booked, front desk clerk refuses, Karen changes her game plan

Working in the hospitality industry is painfully awkward at times, and oftentimes leaves you with a bitter aftertaste, pining for a vacation that would preferably last over a year. Karens are commonplace, and make your job much harder than it needs to be. In this case, a Karen approached OP when they were working Night Audit at a busy hotel, demanding to be checked in immediately, rolling her eyes at OP in the process. OP knew right away that something was off, and asked for Karen's full name and details, which weren't in the reservation system.

Karen had a nonchalant attitude about her and was typing on her phone, barely looking OP in the eye. OP had to explain that Karen's details weren't showing up on her screen and that the hotel was fully booked, so she could not, in fact, check Karen in for the night. Karen did not take very kindly to this information and began to make a scene.

After a lot of back and forth, Karen had a complete meltdown, which included her slamming a tiny purse on OP's desk, wailing, and demanding to speak to the manager, who she 'knew well'. This was OP's cue to tell Karen that she was actually the manager. To say things went well after that would be an overstatement. Scroll down to read what happened. For more, here is an employee who found out they were getting fired after stumbling across a job listing with their role listed.
