'Find those muffins!!': Karen customer demands nonexistent muffins, manager demands their procurement

Customers are easily the worst part of any customer service job, followed closely by arrogant unqualified managers. The two make a dynamic duo when you're unfortunate enough to endure them simultaneously. The Karen, an unstoppable force of rage and fury, and the manager, an unmovable brick wall of utter density. Like Batman and the Joker, they are eternally locked in an endless struggle—and you're stuck in the middle. (It's no wonder that, in these industries, you spend most of your time off just trying to recover from adrenal fatigue.)

Yes, customers are entitled and demanding, sometimes making demands for things that don't even actually exist. When this happens, your manager will probably get involved and tell them to jog on in the nicest way possible…. Unless your manager is Steve. See, Steve heard the phrase "The customer is always right." and decided to treat it as gospel. Whatever the customer wanted, Steve was going to give them, insisting that these mystery muffins be found. This set up a brilliant opportunity for malicious compliance.

Keep reading for this story, as it was originally shared on Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance. For more, check out these workers who quit after their manager tried to write them up.

Snooping Karen makes teen cry after she alleges credit card 'fraud'

This woman decided to visit an expensive department store and spy on the other customers while they shopped. If only she had decided to mind her business, the internet wouldn't be roasting her

After a shopping incident, Karen felt justified to post to r/AmItheA**hole – she was so sure she was in the right, but she just wanted to be sure. As she explains the story, she went for a shopping trip in Bloomingdales, and noticed two teen girls who found a pair of super expensive boots, and decided to buy them. As Karen listened into their conversation, she decided that there was potential fraud afoot! These girls were planning on using a credit card belonging to one of the girls' father. Karen swooped in to stop these teenagers, without realizing that she was the a**hole in this situation.

35+ Top Relatable Pie Chart Fails Depicting Our Worst Habits

This one goes out to all the visual learners out there. We all know that sometimes, the only way to properly conceptualize something is with a visual aid. We've learned this from our school days. And yet, even as adults, there is something about a pie chart that makes our biggest daily fails all the more relatable and universal. At the same time, they can make our biggest daily fails all the more confronting. Talk about a double-edged sword!

Some of these charts address our greatest insecurities, our awkward social interactions, our dating lives (or lack thereof), our uncontrollable eating habits, our relationship with work, and even our relationship with ourselves. Who knew that a pie chart could convey so much with so little? Keep scrolling below to have a look at these pie chart fails. 'If I was the CEO I would decrease your wages': Demotivational Karen spills the results of employees' anonymous surveys

This department head is unbelievably out of touch with her employees. It seems like the more money people make in their jobs, the more they forget how hard it is to live on a low salary. This Head of Department Karen really hit a nerve with the employees working under her guidance. As she gave an employee update, she managed to say some truly baffling things to the call center team.

U/peacesalaamz took to the r/talesfromcallcenters subreddit to share this story of their Head of Department, who decided to give her employees some "updates in what the company has improve[d] on for customers and employees." To Karen's surprise, an anonymous survey of the call center workers found that most of them were less than thrilled about their current salary. Instead of offering a raise or addressing the employees' concerns, this department head chose a different strategy. Read all about these wild Karen antics below. Then, check out these horrible roommates whose habits make them impossible to live with.

Relatable Work Memes for Employees With a Permanent Case of the Mondays (February 28, 2023)

Going to work is undoubtedly the lamest necessary evil in our lives. Not only are you wasting 8 precious hours each day, but you're lining the pockets of some nepo-baby CEO who's only ever worked on his yacht racing 'career' and assembling his Burning Man looks. While your boss may have never worked a day in their life, you're all too familiar with the creaking sounds of the freeway when it's commuter traffic time, that feeling when you skip breakfast because you're running late to the office, and the solemn (yet hopeful) promise of getting your direct deposit notification every two weeks. Hang in there, buddy– the corporate cogs will always turn, it's best you don't get caught between them by sticking your neck out.

'I am quitting [...] effective immediately': Worker quits without notice after watching their coworkers being fired without notice.

Treat others how you would like to be treated: the golden rule. Regardless of your religious beliefs or affiliations, it stands to reason that this is a good principle to follow in order to build a moral foundation for one's actions. This "golden rule" or sometimes "ethic of reciprocity" appears universally throughout civilizations and cultures, dating back as far as 2000 BCE in Ancient Egypt.

Despite its ubiquity in philosophy and religion, small business owners somehow seemed to have missed the memo, often expecting considerations from their workers that they themselves would never give to anyone. This brings us to a common problem regarding the 'trust fall' that is notice periods (and the act of giving notice in general) in the United States. With most of the US being employment at will, your employer could send you packing 20 seconds from now for whatever reason they desired, such as manifesting the failure of their business. So, when you go to give them your two-week notice, you might expect them to do the same in return, but they could take that notice and terminate your employment on the spot.

With this in mind, when an employer has proven that, when push comes to shove, they themself won't follow a notice period, you shouldn't either when leaving that business. (However, if an employer has shown you nothing but respect, it would be wise to treat them with the same.)

After watching two of their coworkers be let go without notice or warning, this worker knew that they were going to be saddled with the whole team's work and quickly made plans to make moves and get out of the toxic bakery where they worked.

You might say, after all is bread and done, that the employer has found themselves in a shit show of their own baking. They'll knead to get on their hiring game to save themselves from disaster.

'My roommate told me my Social Security number': 20+ Utterly unhinged roommate stories

Living in close quarters with someone forces you to be up close and personal with their messy rooms and weird habits. Lots of people have bad roommate stories — some can only be shared anonymously! Toxic entitled individual battles a Karen on the bus

It's a race to the bottom in this latest story of petty revenge…

We're all the heroes of our own story, and the mind has an impressive way of spinning a narrative so that it isn't at fault—especially when that narrative is going to be posted online for fake internet points. But, hey, it's my job to farm other people's fake-internet-point stories and give my own snazzy take on it for more fake internet points—so I shouldn't be one to judge.

Because we're so good at making ourselves out to be the "good guy" in a story, it's very telling when someone's own narrative paints them to be the villain or shows cracks in the armor that we can't ignore. If you can't even manage to make yourself sound good, we have to wonder what sort of behavior and warped perspective lies beneath the charade.

This user shared a story to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit, which aims to tell the classic story of a "Karen on the bus," and, while the "Karen" she's talking about sounds terrible… the user sounds equally terrible.

Studies have confirmed that hearing one side of a phone conversation is profoundly more irritating than listening to other people talking, so subjecting the poor people who are stuck on a long-haul bus trip with you is incredibly inconsiderate. The user then goes on to talk about how she is planning to assault the "Karen" with glitter for voicing her annoyance at the phone call, disregarding the fact that someone will have to clean it up and others are likely to be contaminated, confirming the user's warped perspective on the world and propensity toward entitled behavior.

Just another reason why public transport is a battered hellscape of an experience.

'You're not friends. You are her boss': Clueless manager forces employee to give her the last bite of her chocolates

This manager went into work on her day off just to bully her so-called  "friend/employee." In this insane story told to r/AmItheA**hole, the OP described an interesting work situation she's got going on. The 34 year old manager went into her retail job on her day off, probably because she considers her employees to be her friends. Not that bosses and employees can't be friends in theory, but there's got to be some boundaries drawn, and this clueless boss has some major issues with that.

The employee, Kate, was showing her coworkers a nice box of chocolates from her boyfriend. There was only one piece left when the OP showed up, and she actually had the nerve to ask — twice! — for a bite of the final truffle. This employee was so taken aback that she tried to deflect the OP's question in a few different ways, but the OP wasn't taking no for an answer. The OP even managed to insult her in front of all the other employees. This boss and employee relationship doesn't sound much like a friendship… After getting flamed in the comments section and repeatedly getting called an a**hole by basically everyone, maybe the OP will rethink her "friendships."

Next up, read about these feuding neighbors who escalated things by getting the police involved with their noise complaint.

25+ Gym and Exercise Memes and Fails for Those of You Who Are Still Sore From Leg Day

For some of us, going to the gym is an obsession; for others, it's a fantasy. While some of us are sticking to a strict regimen of cardio and weightlifting and stretching, others consider a walk around the block or even a walk around the room to be sufficient exercise. I mean, it's all relative, isn't it? But let's say for the sake of this ~exercise~ (so to speak), no matter where you fall on this spectrum, you are now at the gym. You've made it. It may be your third time there this week or it may be your time there in your lifetime. Regardless, you've made it and you're now tasked with working out among all these trainers and gym rats and hot people. You might be thinking: how the heck am I going to get through this? Well, if these memes and fails serve as any indication, we have all been in your position. Keep scrolling below to check these out. 'He couldn't find any trains going to Hawai'i': 40 People share the moment they realized someone was dumb as a rock

There's billions of people in this world, and they can't all be geniuses. Some don't even have a drop of common sense. You're going to meet many people from all different walks of life and varying educational backgrounds, but sometimes people just say stunning things. Prompted by a famous quote from George Carlin, people shared their stories of the times they realized they were much smarter than the person they were chatting with.

These people aren't your average run-of-the-mill dum dums. No, this is advanced stupidity, the kind that makes you worry for their safety. Some people just aren't taught simple life lessons, like one guy who was infuriated that he had to wear his glasses to the DMV, or another who called emergency services because there was no mayo on their sandwich.

After you check out these face-palm worthy fails, see why this woman really wants to start calling her noisy neighbor a "Karen."

‘Malicious Compliance Mode Activated’ : Employee Fired for Messing With Wrong Coworker After Getting Berated for Not Following Company Safety Guidelines

Do warning signs baffle you? Specifically, the type that read 'Do not stand in, on or around while operating'? It seems like kind of a given. Well, you haven't met my coworkers. Company safety matters should be taken seriously — guidelines are in place for a reason. That reason is usually that it is potentially saving employees from ending up as a pile of mush, buried 6 feet under. If someone had to make a sign, there is usually a reason.

Well, apparently my coworkers are not the only ones in need of a visual reminder. See, there was one certain employee who did not take the advice 'Never EVER under any circumstances climb into a compactor unless it's unhooked from any power sources' — and climbed in anyway. Don't worry, nothing terrible happened. I mean, he got fired, but he is not a pile of mush. That's a win in my book.

How did he get found out, anyway? Well, another worker got involved when he saw the stupidity for himself, and instead of thanking the dude, the employee went all 'MIND YOUR MANNERS', which led to malicious compliance, which led to… well, have a look for yourself. Scroll down and check out the malicious compliance/petty revenge. For more, you're free to have a rare look at HR standing up for an employee who was (shocker) in the right for not giving out freebies to an entitled Karen of a customer.

'I can smell it on you': Karen coworker falsely accuses employee of vaping in the bathroom, tries to get him fired

When your Karen coworker has it out for you, you have to watch your back. That's certainly what this employee learned after the bully he works with falsely accused him of vaping in the bathroom, when in reality, he was taking a longer time than usual due to a bodily health issue. This Reddit thread was posted by u/eli_still_exists, who works at a center for children with developmental disabilities where there is a strict 'no smoking' policy.

The story, unfortunately, gets worse from here on out. Karen reported the Redditor to their supervisor, who went ahead and fully searched him (only to find nothing, of course). Still, however, the supervisor gave the Redditor a warning. We agree with the folks in the comments section who suggested that the employee file a complaint against Karen. A coworker should not be monitoring one's time in the restroom like that. It's just creepy. Keep scrolling below for the full story. '[The vet said] it happens a lot, she'll be fine': TikToker Posts Warning to All Dog Parents About Off-Leash Parks After Her Dog Comes Back Testing Positive for Methanphatmines

Toxic GF steals dude's beloved car and hauls it to junk yard

This guy was stunned to find out that his girlfriend had not only stolen his beloved car, but she took it to be scrapped. U/Jimothyisyouruncle shared this story to r/AmItheA**hole, and it's a truly wild tale.

The OP let his GF live with him during for a few months, but she's hated his car since day one. The 1967 Impala really grinds her gears, all because it's parked in the spot she wants to put her own car in. The OP told her, "Tough luck," since there were other places to park it. But then, he left town on a business trip for several days, and the car had suddenly disappeared!

While the OP's GF was acting nice towards him at first, it was only to soften the blow when she told him that she'd hired people to get rid of this car that he loves so much. The OP wrote an original post plus an update, as well as answering questions in the comments.

Next, this guy got to tell his former boss to kick rocks, all for a very satisfying reason.

'Sorry, I've got a new job now': Boss insists employee delete all backup files in order to save money, has major regrets

What this boss says goes, so this employee just did exactly as his manager asked him. Some bosses just always have to be right, no matter what their employees say. U/oldman712 shared this excellent tale of malicious compliance, and commenters then shared their own tales below. As the OP wrote, he was a software prototype designer who usually worked with individual clients. He'd save their projects on various terabytes, which the actually bought with his own money!

While the OP cared about his clients, new management entered the picture, and they began cutting costs. Due to age discrimination, the OP was forced out of his job, and even had to train his replacement. But by following his company's rules to the letter, he ended up having the last laugh.

Next up, this introvert just got a new coworker who's friendly and talkative — and they have the exact same commute every single day.

'I don't want a travel buddy': Introvert trapped in super awkward commute with talkative new coworker

The commute to work is supposed to be a sacred space of personal time, but this woman's cheerful coworker is ruining it for her. As u/PersonalYesterday865 wrote to the British Problems subreddit, she's struggling with her people-pleasing ways. She's not quite sure what to do about her friendly coworker who just started working at the same job as her. The OP has learned that they take the exact same commute, and as an introvert, she's freaking out about losing her much-needed alone time.

Luckily for the OP, people in the comments had lots of advice! Some was pretty goofy, but there were also lots of people who'd endured similar awkward scenarios. A few people suggested just being honest and straightforward about the commute issue. If she just tells her coworker that she's looking forward to reading or sleeping during the commute, maybe he'll leave her be! As a fellow introvert, I feel for this OP, and I hope she can figure out her exit strategy with all this advice.

'LOL or what? They're gonna fire you?': Neglectful Management Triples Employee's Workload During Her Last 2-Weeks After Forcing Her to Resign via Email, She Epically Refuses

Sometimes the amount of audacity upper management has is unbelievably astronomical. Like, how is that even possible? Welcome to the world of *~capitalism~*. It's not like the old days anymore, however, where people took the abuse of their managers and bosses because they needed to put food on the table for their family of 10. No. Now we are choosing uncertainty and peace over abuse and security.

For instance, one woman on Reddit recently posted asking if she should put any extra effort into her last two weeks at a job she absolutely hated. The management had been so neglectful of her that when she begged for them to arrange a face-to-face meeting they ignored her, so she was forced to quit via email. She has been nothing but an exemplary employee, but it would appear they did not think she deserved enough respect to provide an exit meeting for her. Though she did the best she could to train her replacement, she has had it. Now, her upper bosses fill her email inbox with demands of this and that. The thing is, this is her last two weeks and she is over it. So she has zero efforts left to give.

You better believe the internet whole-heartedly supports the decision to spot putting in any kind of effort for those toxic managers. She already gave the courtesy of a 2-weeks notice, if they are going to continue to disrespect her to the very last minute of her working there, then she should just stop working.

‘My Boss Was a Liar. I Knew I Was Gonna Quit, but First I Needed to Maliciously Comply’ : Employee Humiliates Lying Boss in Front of Coworkers After Finding Hidden Agenda Regarding Work Training

While at work, we expect a certain level of professionalism from our coworkers, including our boss. Many managers tend to have a hidden agenda of sorts, and live in la-la land, blindly assuming they won't get figured out. What was this manager's real motivation for making her employees' lives more difficult? I'm not sure. But she insisted that specific training take place out of State.

Now, this was back in 2020, when that wasn't really possible. Moreover, there were mandatory 2-week quarantines in place for anyone going back into their State — which this boss fully planned on ignoring. So she wasn't just being totally inconsiderate towards her employees, but also to the entire world. Thanks, Karen. The employees thought it was weird that upper management would want employees to go through so much just for some 'training', but this Karen insisted that there was no remote training available.

She was very much lying, as it turns out. The employee who was really getting the worst of her behavior had decided she was gonna quit. Who would want to stay in that kind of toxic environment? She had a newborn to think about as well, so it was a pretty clear 'Nope, I'm out' for her. But before doing so, she decided to dig a bit… finding out quickly that it was all a fabrication, she did what she had to do.

Update! 'She gave the judge an attitude': Woman demands extra money for a brand new MacBook after friend sits on her old computer

One person wondered if they were at fault for the full cost of a new MacBook after breaking their friend's computer. They took to r/legaladvice years ago to explain the situation — and now they're back with an update to their laptop woes!

Originally, u/MacBookcouch wrote that while they were over at a friend's place, they took a seat on the couch. Unfortunately there was a MacBook on the cushion, and the OP broke the screen! "Since it was completely my fault, I offered to pay her the money," the OP wrote. But this woman got greedy. She wouldn't accept the OP's money when the time came because she wanted a new computer, complete with the cost increase of hundreds of dollars. She thinks if she's getting a new computer, it should be an upgrade at the OP's expense. Without other options, the OP turned to the internet for advice, and shared what happened as their legal drama played out.

'I miss being in school concerts': 30+ Fail Blog fans reminisce about childhood's best and worst moments

Childhood can be a wonderful time full of carefree play time and roaming the outdoors. We asked our Facebook audience what they miss most about their own time as a kid, and the answers were quite varied and often wholesome!

Lots of people reflected on the time they spent with parents, grandparents, and other family members. What could be better than waking up with zero responsibilities and all the time in the world to play with your friends? Some of you reminisced on the magical ways that your parents created a childhood full of wonder for you, like the people who talked about being mysteriously teleported to bed if they fell asleep on the couch. A parent's involvement makes all the difference for so many people!

'My gut told me to turn into Harriet the Spy...': Wife Suspects Husband's Cheating on Her With Mutual Friend, Pretends to Be Him on Social Media and Gets the Other Woman to Spill the Tea

If you have ever been put in the horrible position where you suspect that your "loving" partner is cheating in you, then you know there is no other gut-wrenching feeling like it. Maybe you see their phone lighting up with messages late at night. Or you get a friend saying they say your partner out with someone else at a random time of the day that you didn't know about. Or you simply see someone liking too many of their social media posts. That feeling of your heart dropping into your stomach is instant. It makes you want to curl up into a ball and hide away. But that is not what you do!

One strong wife epically shares on Reddit how she discovered and left her unfaithful husband. He had already pulled some shady things on suspicious apps that had them on the rocks, but he agreed to delete them and attend therapy. The couple have been together over 7 years and had a 1-year-old baby boy. So the wife was hoping everything would work out. Then one day she saw on their security camera a woman trying to come to their house while she was out of town and her husband was at home. He said it was just a traveling sales person, but she could see through his BS.

So she decided to go into FBI-mode and do some investigating herself. She went onto Instagram and deciphered whatever his login was, after several tries, she got in! With that, she started talking to their mutual friend she suspected he was cheating on her with. And with that, the other woman spilled all the tea and she knew.

She immediately called her friends over to pack up all of his belongings and kicked him out. Though he cried and apologized to her, she said she had too much respect for herself and her child, so they were done. EPIC!

'No point asking you anything else': Rude hiring manager makes interviewee cry after second interview

This person is scared to interview again after this terrible experience with an insensitive hiring manager. This unfortunate job seeker took to r/recruitingh*ll to share their awful experience and vent about their frustrations with the interview process.

As u/ThatFaithlessness101 wrote, they had a second interview with a company. It was entry level, and they also stated in the job requirements that you didn't have to be familiar with anything related to the job before joining the company. So that's why it was all the more baffling when the OP was asked a question they didn't know the answer to. Instead of asking another question to determine if the OP was right for the job, the manager dismissed them pretty rudely.

As one person mentioned in the comments, this manager might have already interviewed a dozen people that day, and was possibly already sure they weren't going to hire the OP. That sucks for the OP, but it's still no excuse for rudeness on the manager's part.

Karen blocks Single Mother's driveway, Single Mother calls the cops, Karen demands an apology

Wherever there are parking spaces or driveways… there are bound to be neighbors feuding over them. It's just one of those territorial behaviors that have been ingrained in us since the monkey times… Monkey get big cube of metal. Monkey need place to keep big cube of metal. Other monkey move their cube of metal. Monkey take other monkey's metal cube keeping place. Other monkey mad.

This story plays out time and time again, with an irrational neighbor insisting on parking in another (slightly less irrational) neighbor's space. This hatred will simmer like a soup in summer until it finally boils over into a meltdown of rage.

That's what happened when this "nosey and judgemental" neighbor made a point of blocking this single mother's driveway after stealing her children's ball. After the neighbor claimed that she "had a right to park wherever she wanted" things escalated, and the police got involved. The neighbor is now demanding an apology and the mother is wondering if she is in the wrong for calling the police.

What's your call?

'Your SIL is an entitled parent': Party host gets yelled at by her SIL over food choices

Planning and hosting a kid's birthday party is stressful enough, but this woman's entitled sister-in-law made it so much worse. This OP shared her story with the internet, since she was seeking helpful opinions on whether or not she was the jerk in this situation.

As the OP, u/haley××2 wrote, she was planning a birthday party for her kiddo, age 8, and inviting a bunch of people over. The OP invited her sister in law and niece, age 6, to the party as well. Since her niece has several allergies, plus can't have gluten or dairy, she catered a meal specially for her. But that didn't stop the little girl from throwing a tantrum when she couldn't have the food that everyone else was eating at the party, and that's when the real drama began.

Her SIL was furious that the OP didn't make literally every food to fit with her kid's dietary needs. But, of course, "My daughter doesn't have allergies. This party was for her," the OP wrote.

Next, this teen wanted people to weigh in on whether or not he was a mansplainer… and people in the comments agreed that he wasn't!

'She accused me of mansplaining': Teen refuses to work with study partner after she claims he's 'speaking to her [friend] like an idiot'

This guy was unsure about the difference between mansplaining and being a dude explaining a topic, so he turned to r/AmItheA**hole for advice.

Many women have experienced mansplaining – depending on what circles you're in, it might happen all the time! But for this 15 year old, he's been accused of something he doesn't think he did.

As he writes, the OP, Ellie, and Mia are all in a class together. He and Ellie study together during and outside of their physics class, as he recited parts of the lesson to help him remember and to reintroduce the material to Ellie. While the OP thought this was going smoothly, he suddenly got called out by Mia. Now, he's turned to r/AmItheA**hole to ask if he really was being a mansplainer, or if he was just a dude studying for physics class with his friend.

In this case, I understand this girl's frustration about mansplaining, which happens literally all the time if you're a woman, but she's definitely in the wrong on this one. The subject is quite fraught, so the viral "mansplaining chart" is included below to help!

Commenters agreed that the OP was correct this time around. This classmate needed the lesson, and hopefully the embarrassment and fallout from this will make her rethink her words in the future.  Next, check out these 30+ people who shared the opinions that would be super unpopular if they said them aloud.

AITA: ‘She won’t attend the wedding and it’s all your fault’ : Entitled Lady Unfairly Demands Sister Pay For Her Daughter’s Wheelchair Rental Fee, Leading To Family Dispute

Family weddings always lead to drama, one way or another. This time, a woman took to the r/AITA subreddit, seeking Redditers' opinions about her 'selfish sister' who was getting married, and picked a venue that wasn't up to par with this woman's expectations regarding wheelchair accessibility. See, the woman's daughter had disabilities, and the wedding would be held at the beach, in the sand. That is not exactly wheelchair friendly…

To be fair and even out the playing field a little, it's important I mention that the venue did in fact have the option to rent a wheelchair that is designed specifically to endure sand — this option came at the cost of $110. This woman simply didn't want to pay it. Commenters came to her sister's defense, and after careful inspection, it's not hard to see why.

"I had a horrible job interview yesterday": Young worker shares nightmare job interview experience, internet responds

Interviews are a two-way street: the candidate is trying to figure out whether or not they want to work for the employer just as much as the employer is trying to figure out if they're interested in the candidate. Still, often there are multiple candidates but only one position; this can create a power imbalance and desperation on the part of the candidate that leads to only one direction of the street being walked. As such, candidates may miss major red flags from the interviewer or dismiss them in favor of having a job

While there are lots of confessions that are embarrassing, there are also sweet ones, like a dude who found out his GF wanted to surprise him with a vacation, but put the date in their shared calendar. He isn't going to spoil the surprise – unless she also reads the Fesshole page, that is!

After you check out this batch of cringy confessions, read about this cashier who's fed up with Karens, and has started charging them a "stupid tax."

Top Pickup Lines That Backfired This Week (February 23, 2023)

What even is a pickup line anymore? If these pickup lines serve as any indication, people tend to just get to the point and say the craziest things. That's chivalry these days, folks! Keep scrolling below for this collection of the top trending pickup lines that backfired this week. When you're done, here are the top Karens of the week!

'Self-inflicted stupid tax': One cashier's tiny slice of revenge on crabby Karens

Faced with hangry Karens one too many times, this cashier has had enough. As they wrote to r/MaliciousCompliance, u/iceariina often rings up customers who don't quite know what they want. Lots of customers will come in to the burger joint they work at and order a cheeseburger, no cheese. But actually, you can save a quarter if you just order a hamburger. Does a Karen want to hear that? No, they never do! They just want a cheese-less cheeseburger.

Since these Karens at the OP's workplace decided the customer is always right, the OP agreed. Ok Karen, have it your way! The malicious compliance makes the OP feel better while also giving them the satisfaction of knowing they screwed over a Karen. As they noted, they also probably got like $2 extra for their employer, so good job for that too, u/iceariina.

After that, read about one institution's email crash that caused a massive meltdown, all because one person sent an email to everybody.

'Witch #2 did not get hired': Employee gets revenge on former coworker after she tried to apply for a job at their current company

We all have daydreams about screwing over our former coworkers, right? You know, the ones who made your life at your old job utterly miserable. The ones who were totally unprofessional and got away with it while you had to suffer. Thankfully, if this story serves as any indication, there is a world in which you may finally get your much-needed revenge.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit by u/Motya1978, who explained that after years of working at a "dysfunctional academic medical center," her senior boss was replaced by Witch #1, and her new manager (Witch #2) forced the employee to draft a completely unrealistic business proposal. Well, as Justin Timberlake once said, what goes around comes around. By the time the employee was working somewhere else, she eventually learned that Witch #2 was applying for a job at their current company. Keep scrolling below to see how the Redditor got their revenge.

'The email systems melted down. Everything went offline': Completely clueless employee emails 30,000 people about an apartment, spawning thousands of emails

This dude told a hilarious story of email insanity, writing, "I witnessed this astounding IT meltdown around 2004 in a large academic organization…" As the OP, u/sfsdfd, told to r/talesfromtechsupport, one employee ruined an entire email system for basically everyone involved.

It all started in an organization of about 30,000 people in an academic setting. Lots of people went on vacation at the same time, so there were lots of "I'm on vacation" auto-replies going out. That was no problem at all. The issue arose when one employee decided to bring a personal issue to the attention of literally everyone, including the CEO!

All this woman wanted to do was ask if anyone had any information about a local apartment she could rent. Unfortunately, her request triggered an auto-reply nightmare, thanks to the many folks who were vacationing at the time. These emails kept replying to each other — and to the 30,000 people on the email chain — resulting in literally a half million emails to this system! It sounds like an annoying or hilarious day to be at that job, depending on who you are, and at least the OP got a great laugh out of it!

Next, this person got the pleasure of reporting their own company's labor practices – not that they didn't try to tell their HR department first.

'You can't quit on a Friday': Company ignores employee's two-week notice, tries to fire him after he already left the company

This IT guy was working for a large firm as a contractor for their IT department. His experience was one that people often have within a giant, bloated corporate behemoth: The managers were unreliable, the expectations were too high, and the company had an odd culture that tried to give you more work, as congratulations for a job well done, rather than pay you fairly.

That sounds like something that the owner or CEO thought of one day when they were sitting on the toilet, and all the "Yes Men" surrounding them were just too afraid to tell them that that idea should have been flushed along with the other waste.

But, the CEO, like many other employers, thought that they could pull this one off; prattling on about their culture, utterly blind to the fact that each and every one of their employees knows exactly what they're doing and hates them for it.

The IT guy left after his original notice period was up, despite the fact that the employer had never accepted it. When they called him up on his next shift, wondering where he was, they tried to fire him for no-showing.

Keep reading for the full story. This whole experience sounds strangely similar to the time that a Karen boss refused to take her employee's resignation and left to go shopping instead.

'Not my job, not my problem': Coworker gets fired for questioning policies, company suffers after no one takes on her work duties

This job seems to check all the boxes of a toxic work environment. Reading this epic tale of malicious compliance is like coming across one red flag after another. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by u/Current-Fly8346, who began working for this family-run operation while in college. Pretty quickly, they started taking on more responsibilities with no pay bump. They also got a friend (Katy) hired and didn't receive their promised referral bonus.

The CEO and his wife accused the Redditor and Katy of talking too much in the office, so when they fully separated themselves from one another, they also stopped communicating about projects, thereby making their productivity, well, less productive. Eventually, Katy voiced concerns about how the business was run and was unfairly fired. Rather than take on her duties, the Redditor decided that enough was enough and refused to be responsible for any more than what was included in her job description. Eventually, the company's sales began to suffer, and the higher-ups began to take notice. Keep scrolling below to see how the Redditor defended themselves when they were confronted by the office Karen.

21 Coworker Memes for Understaffed Teams of Employees With One Foot Out the Door

It seems like there are barely any workplaces with adequately staffed teams of employees at this point. Everyone is wondering, 'Huh, why don't we have more workers?' when the answer is simple: People don't get paid enough to deal with rowdy, delinquent customers. Bank accounts all over are sitting on the same number, or recede slowly into negative zeros. People want to be compensated properly, but that obviously ain't happening in this economy.

It can be jarring to deal with such negativity on a daily basis. There is one thing that makes it better (or worse) though, aside from memes — your coworkers. Maybe not all of 'em (we see you Karen). Sure, there is that one person who never seems to shut up about how critical their input is to the team (again, hi Karen) yet is never, ironically, seen working.

Scroll down for some of the best, most relatable memes of the week. For more, you can check out last week's.

'If it wasn't for me there would be no wedding': Entitled monster-in-law demands to join her son on his honeymoon

There's nothing more exhausting than a demanding mother-in-law. As soon as this couple got engaged, this Redditor's mother-in-law immediately insisted upon joining the couple on their upcoming honeymoon to Greece. You would think at first that this woman was joking, right? Nope! She wasn't joking in the slightest.

The Redditor shared her side of the story via this thread on Reddit's r/entitledparents subreddit, a perfect home for a post about a mother-in-law like this one. As many of the folks suggested in the comments section, we believe this woman should avoid any and all discussions about the honeymoon as much as possible from here on out. If the topic of travel comes up, she can be subtle about it. "When you have your own trip one day, you can go visit x, y, and z…" That sort of thing. If she doesn't get the picture, too bad! As long as the Redditor doesn't give any concrete details about where she and her husband are staying, she should be good to go.

‘We Worked Together for Five Years, but I Haven’t Seen Her Work Once’ : HR Calls Old Coworker of Interviewee for Job Reference, He Throws Her Under Bus, Enacting the Petty Revenge She Always Deserved

Some people's claim to fame end when they get promoted, and from then on they simply sit at their desk, playing Candy crush on their phone, overlooking a bunch of other employees, not doing any more actual work. Either they aren't very self-aware when they expect to get glowing references from former coworkers, or they're downright delusional. Either way, if you're not gonna work, don't expect the people you effed over to vouch for you when you begin looking for another job.

This is the case here — a woman who was part of a programming team in a company did some work on a suite of software tools that (everyone in the company was then forced to use) got promoted, and decided that her work was done. After that, she sat on her throne (office chair), and read paperback novels all day. Maybe she felt she was entitled to her 'break', but the fact of the matter was, she wasn't actually doing any work from then on.

The company eventually came crashing down, and many years later, an old coworker of hers received a comical phone call — apparently, this lady had listed him as a job reference. He found this to be the perfect opportunity to get her back and enacted some petty revenge. Scroll down to read the detailed account below.

'Security was called': Nepo baby gets fired from resort where her parents are members, parents go full-Karen and entire family gets banned for life

It turns out nepo babies even have it easier when it comes to getting that first crappy job that we all have to go through, but that doesn't mean you're actually going to be successful in the role.

These "first jobs" usually consist of a workplace environment where "doing what you're told" is pretty much your only required skill. So not doing what you're told—because you're an entitled little turd of a human being—generally won't get you very far. That is unless your family has enough money and enough power that they're afraid to fire you. Unfortunately, for this nepo baby, that wasn't quite the case.

Mommy and Daddy, like a lot of rich and powerful people, have been consistently taught that "applying pressure" on service people by screaming and yelling at them will always get them the result they want. When this stops working, they keep screaming and yelling—until the authorities are involved and until they're banned for life.

This family should be proud; they even got pictures of their esteemed family hung up in the resort for all to see—just at the security guard's station instead of in the donor's lounge.

Keep reading for this deliciously satisfying tale below. For more, check out this nepo baby boss who attempted to force their workers to work on PTO.

'He's put her in an impossible position': Dude offers home for his BFF's wedding, until her fiancé makes an uncomfortable request

"One of my best friends is getting married soon," this guy wrote, as he wondered if he was wrong for restricting where she could hold the festivities. The OP, u/weddingproperty, had a burning AITA? question for the internet.

As he shared, he's excited for his best friend Carla to get married to her fiancé Rick. He even offered to let them hold the wedding on his property. However, he recently learned that no one told Rick about he and Carla's romantic history. Once Rick found out,  he didn't respond well. And in fact, he's now trying to get the OP off his own property! The OP is unsure what to do, since this situation pits him against his best friend. Commenters assured the OP that he's NTA.

Relatable Work Memes for Employees With a Permanent Case of the Mondays (February 21, 2023)

After every three day weekend lies the lurking dread of a short week. If a 4 day work week was normalized at your job, it wouldn't be so stressful coming off of a holiday weekend because you probably wouldn't be suffering from a 3-day-binge hangover and you wouldn't have your micro-managing boss breathing down your neck. The freedoms of the last three days have only taught you is that work sucks. Why do billionaires keep attempting to work? You'll never understand that. Either way, here you are, suffering the consequences of your peasant birth, working to make a living, but leaving you wanting more. It's what's led you to scour the pages of Indeed and ZipRecruiter once again.

'She's not paying rent but is making demands?': Guy told not to cook in his own apartment by his roommate's girlfriend

If you're not paying rent, you forfeit your right to an opinion. It's as simple as that. It doesn't matter how often this roommate has his girlfriend over (apparently, she's at their place like 18 hours a day). It doesn't matter how serious the relationship is. Until she's on the lease and paying her share of the rent, she doesn't get to dictate what the rules are.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/Forward_Society_2253, who shared that his cooking has become an issue for his roommate's girlfriend. After refusing to give in to her demands, the Redditor started to question his decision-making when his coworkers said he was being a jerk. Our take? NOPE! The coworkers were acting like jerks. The roommate was acting like a jerk. And most importantly, the roommate's girlfriend was acting like the biggest jerk. It sounds like the lease is up soon anyway, so my advice would be to cook the smelliest dishes in the time you have left.

'He is the laughing stock of everybody he ever respected': IT worker in charge of CEO's email triggers an email apocalypse

When the CEO of this IT company demanded changes to his email system, he totally miscalculated the consequences. U/dingdongdelongwong shared this story of malicious compliance, which was all brought on because of this bigwig's inane ideas.

The OP shared that they were tasked with helping the CEO, "Mr. Bigwig," set up an auto reply feature on his email while he went on a vacation. The CEO seemed to not understand why he couldn't send someone an out of office email every single time they emailed him. Apparently he just wanted limitless reminders of how much fun he was having on holiday while his employees continued on with their workweeks. This smug CEO thought he knew exactly what he was doing, but he didn't expect the OP to comply with his demands specifically as he said.

After you read about this excellent case of malicious compliance, read this story of a teacher who decided to follow their administration's stupid new rules exactly as written.

'My mom says that it was a mistake': Entitled Mom tries to cheat daughter out of her father's inheritance

There's nothing like money and inheritance to drive a wedge between family members. There is a wide range of potential reasons why this woman's late father did not include her younger sister as part of the inheritance: perhaps he drafted the will before she was born or came of age, or perhaps she has a history of being irresponsible with money, or perhaps she even was included and this is all a lie concocted by the greedy mother. Who's to say?

One thing we do know for sure, however, is that this woman is entitled to her fair share of the money. There is no world in which signing that money over to her mother is the responsible solution here, no matter how much of a nightmare her mother is. The Redditor posted this thread on Reddit's r/entitledparents subreddit, and let's just say that people in the comments were quick to give similar advice. Keep scrolling below for the full story! 'I would like to get my refund': Absolute Karen gets roasted by business owner after leaving 1-star review for SNORKELING tour because they couldn't swim

I'm all for adaptive experiences for people with disabilities… but when your only disability is that you're an absolute moron, it's kind of hard to accommodate you. There's no shortage of entitled idiots in this world who are eager to blame everything, no—anything else for their problems. Unfortunately, we're stuck on this planet with them, and all we can do is bury our faces in our hands and sigh.

Enter: this guy. The guy who didn't know that he'd need to know how to swim to partake in a snorkeling tour. The most hilarious part of this entire thing is that he specifically addresses the fact that he was annoyed the guide wouldn't "aid" him—what did he think the guide would do? Operate his arms and legs for him? Possess his body and operate him like a puppet, like some sort of swim-lesson demon? Sorry buddy, the "possession" package costs extra—you should have read the fine print. Plus, you must allow enough time at the end of the tour for the end-of-session exorcism.

Readers were astounded when screenshots of the review were posted to a popular online community and were delighted to find that the owner had left a scathing response to the reviewer where the review was originally posted.

Keep reading to see the review, the operator's response, and the reactions it generated. For more, check out this Karen, who couldn't spell and left a 1-star review for some birthday balloons.

‘You Won’t Be Paid for This Mandatory Meeting. Also, From Now on You Will Dress for the Job You Want’ : Nepo-Baby Company Lacks Code of Conduct, Micromanager Makes up Rules for Employees, Leading To Malicious Compliance

Micromanagers are suffocating bosses who don't trust you to get the job done and certainly don't trust you to get it done right. This one in particular, 'Sally', was working in a company that was known for its nepotism. The upper-tier management was made up of family members and close friends. The woman who posted the story about micromanagement that led to malicious compliance shared the tale on Reddit — where she gained a lot of sound advice actually.

See, this micromanager ordered the employees to attend a mandatory weekly meeting — unpaid. Which is illegal. So not only was this manager annoyingly bad at her job, but she was also incredibly entitled and delusional. Now, on to the dress code — the company had no written code of conduct. But Sally decided that from then on, the employees must 'dress for the job they want, not the job they have'.

Which is utterly ridiculous. You're basically admitting that the job they have is terrible. That doesn't exactly encourage them to want to stay there or put in any effort, Sally. Anyhow, what followed was a mix of some fun petty revenge, or rather, malicious compliance. Scroll down to read the detailed account. For more, you can also check out this tale of malicious compliance that has to do with the all-too-familiar attendance system. The employee got fed up after being micromanaged (I'm sensing a pattern here) and made sure to do exactly what his employer said — to a maliciously delicious T.

'I walked down to the office later that day with the biggest grin on my face': Teacher complies with school's annoying new rules, administration is caught off guard

This principal should have known better than to test the patience of this school teacher! Public school teachers already have so much on their plates, but this teacher's situation sounds especially grim.

As u/Middle_Pound_822 shared to r/MaliciousCompliance, their school is currently plagued by an "overwhelming sewage smell." It's so bad that lots of the teachers have moved their classrooms into the hallway. That resulted in the ire of the school supervisor, who responded with a petty email (and no solutions for the issue of the sewage stench). The whole scenario is nightmarish, and as many commenters pointed out, it could be a serious health concern for everyone in the building.

Scroll down to check out this satisfying tale of malicious compliance. Then, check out the way this delivery driver got back at rude restaurant workers who wouldn't let her inside the building.

Guy gets call from debt collector looking for his ex-wife, he leaves them 600 voicemails as revenge

Divorce, unfortunately, is almost never final… whether ongoing custody battles, financial disputes, or fending off repeated slights from a crazy ex—it's going to haunt you. That being said, there are those who have come to the end of their romantic relationship who somehow manage to make things work and still be friends. Surprising, I know, but it gives me hope that some people do have the capability to be decent and rational.

Well, this guy, Redditor u/Nerd_Law, is continuing to be haunted by his ex-wife, from who he split eight years ago. Not over children or hard feelings… but certainly over her finances. He keeps receiving phone calls from a debt collection agency that is trying to reach his ex-wife to recover her debts. These companies infamously have no boundaries and will call your best friend from first grade if it means that they have a shot of hitting a payday. He was absolutely fed up with this situation and decided that a little revenge was in order to balance the scales.

Keep reading for this tale of revenge. For more,

'AITA for yelling at my girlfriend to stop f-ing eating?': Guy's outburst shuts down entitled indulgent girlfriend

Each and every one of us has a memory (or memories) from our childhood that we hold dear, a nostalgic high-water mark of the happiest moments of our lives. We could drive ourselves mad trying to attain this same sense of blissful wonderment—and indeed, some have. This girlfriend seems to be one of those people, choosing to forgo all rational thought and social decency to chase and ride the high of her youth.

Who doesn't love dipping their finger in a baking work-in-progress? Reckless abandon prevails over all common sense (and the risk of salmonella) for the rush of dipping your finger into a bowl and withdrawing it with a coating that's sticky and sweet. Still, it's probably best not to do this for something that's destined to be consumed commercially by the masses… there are rather strict rules about that.

Still, when this nostalgic-tripping girlfriend couldn't keep her fingers clean, she caused her boyfriend to blow his top. Now he has turned to Reddit's r/AmItheA**hole subreddit to see if he is in the wrong for his reaction… —What's your read?
