'Most of us simply ignored her...But a dozen of us decided to comply': Principal ignores teacher's schedule, ruins her own Friday

School testing is an important part of a student's year, and these tests have to be administered with exact time measurements. This teacher shared their experience with this on r/MaliciousCompliance – they got to talk to their boss in a way that most people only dream of!

As u/Djorgal shared, they work part time as a math teacher in France. Since they only work part-time, they kept telling their principal that they wouldn't be able to cover the entirety of the student's upcoming tests. With the teachers having to come in early for the testing, this teacher wouldn't be able to stay the entire day without breaking the rules of their employment. And of course, after giving the principal ample notice about their part time status, this teacher got to tell her off in a very epic way.

Next, read this hilarious saga of Kevin the grocery store manager who was determined to catch the thief stealing his precious tuna sandwich lunch.

'You work for your hours!': Employee quits after reading demanding manager's note

This note was the last straw for one fed-up gas station employee! As shared to r/antiwork, the OP, u/GlitteringSpell5885, shared an eye-opening note from management. Along with sharing the note, which got lightly roasted in the comments, the OP also answered a few of the commenter's questions to add context to the situation. As the OP wrote, the manager felt she was entitled to talk down to the young employees who worked at this gas station. Clearly, the tone of the note struck a nerve with at least one (former) employee.

Update! 'Your cat has to stay in your room now': Roommates spar over their cats' inability to get along

They do say a pet's behavior will resemble its owner's! That seems to be the case in this instance but in the reverse order. Once it became clear that these two cats did not get along, their owners, who are roommates with one another, got into their own fight over it all.

This thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by
u/bananapuddingkit, is also a rare example where the original poster genuinely listened to the feedback in the comments and amended their behavior. There is some hope for the AITA community! In this case, the Redditor came to realize that impulsively bringing home a pet when she was already armed with the knowledge that her roommate's cat was not the friendliest was… well, not the wisest decision.

'Time to go to the psychiatrist': Redditors Tackle the Creepiest 'Would You Rather' Question Ever, Giving Everyone the Heebie-Jeebies and A Bad Case of Paranoia

'Would You Rather' is a timeless game that has taken over sleepovers, college parties, and senator's dinners alike. In the game, the goal is to pose impossible hypothetical scenarios and beg players to debate the pros and cons of (usually horrific) oppositions. The caveat? You must choose one option, so typically both options are terrible in their own special way. Naturally, Redditors have taken this formula and perfected the most atrocious and creepiest 'Would You Rather' question of all time, leaving readers freaked out, questioning their sanity, and genuinely unable to decide which side is worse. So, without further ado,  for those willing to join the discussion and second-guess their living situation for all eternity…

Which would you rather find living in your attic, 1000 cockroaches or 1 human person?

Either way you have a parasite scuttling about upstairs, creeping into all of your things, eating your food, and infiltrating your walls, so your choice is pretty bleak. Redditors debated the logistics of fumigation and ease of removal, while others contemplated the lethal implications, psychological trauma, and ability to move on from the debacle. Most interestingly, this WYR question seemed to have no clear winner. Some people, who have probably seen too many unsolved true crime documentaries insisted that the human would simply disappear the second you called the police, following you to the next home you moved into (because they're obviously deranged in some way). The roaches would be equally difficult to shake, according to many folks, because when you see 1,000 roaches, that means there's probably actually more like a million stashing away in all of your things– clothes, furniture, food, etc.

Nightmare fuel. It seems that whatever horrors you find living in your attic without your permission will follow you into the next apartment you flee to, so in my opinion, you at least might as well be collecting a little rent income from your parasite. Maybe you can even coexist and share the wifi code and some lone-survival tips.

'There was definitely an elephant in the room': Landlord forces company to abandon building in one week, cue malicious compliance

Landlords are the worst! As the OP shared in this delicious tale of malicious compliance, this business triumphed over their landlord with excellent results.

As the OP shared to r/maliciouscompliance, the story starts in 2020, and the OP later added updates to share what the landlord's reaction was. As they tell it, the company was renting a space when the 2020 madness hit. The company was an entertainment site, so of course, no one could be inside for quite some time. Then, the landlord of the building suddenly gave the company the boot.

At least the workers at this company refused to back down without a fight! The story is such a triumph, and as one commenter pointed out, it's some great schadenfreude.

‘Did You Block Me?’ : 18 Best Dating App Fails of the Week for the Tired Crowd

'It's just so convenient' is the go-to answer you give to people when they ask why you're using dating apps. Of course, the only people who would have the audacity to ask this question are the couples that have been chained to each other's ankles since middle school and take pride in the fact they are a living example of 'real, true love' (yuck). Behind the scenes nobody really knows what's going on.

Tinder is easy enough to use, and feels like a practical way to get to know people because let's face it — approaching people in real life isn't an option. Not if you're me, anyway.

But then once you're on the stupid app, excitedly swiping away, left and right, back and forth… you find yourself in a different predicament that doesn't involve a deep fear of being laughed at face to face — no, this is a whole other ballgame. It's called 'Choice overload', or in simpler terms, 'FOMO'. When you have so many endless options available, you begin to adopt the 'grass is greener' attitude. Unless you're one of those people that open Netflix and settle immediately on something you want to watch, you know what I mean… the temptation is real.

As for the ghosting, benching, breadcrumbing, yada and bada and gada… FFS, it's exhausting. Tinder promises good things to those who swipe, but it LIES. Anyhow, it's not like I'm gonna stop using it or anything, I'm just here to complain and bring on the good ol' fails other people have kindly shared with the rest of us. I dunno about you, but they sure make me feel better. Scroll down to check out some of the best dating app fails of the week.

'I enjoy what I do but I don't do it for free': Construction worker stands up to boss after getting docked 15 minutes for being 1 minute late

This dude created a wave of malicious compliance seemingly by accident! He was standing up to his boss after getting his time docked fifteen minutes for being just one minute late. This new policy proved to be ridiculous, and so the Redditor decided he wouldn't work for free during those fifteen minutes, knowing that it's fully illegal to require workers to do so. When his coworkers saw this tactic work, they all followed suit and it was only a matter of time before their horrible boss was called out by his boss for enforcing a policy that led to decreased productivity.

This thread, which was shared to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit, is a mostly positive tale of worker solidarity… that is until the original poster revealed that his boss got his own revenge not much later. Thankfully, according to his responses in the comments section below, he found a better job at a competing company afterward. 'Google Street View driver: You're all alone for 8+ hours a day': 25+ Jobs that seem extra fun, but don't live up to the hype

Who knew that being a park ranger or a background actor in a film wouldn't be fun jobs? There are so many jobs in the world, but some are certainly way more entertaining than others.

I've always thought a great job would be to test ice cream, which is a real career! However, I imagine you'd get sick of eating ice cream pretty fast. That's the thing with these jobs — even if it's something you might do for fun on your day off, having to do something every single day can get monotonous really quickly.

On this r/AskReddit thread, the question posed was "Which job is a LOT less fun than most people expect?" The answers were so eye-opening! From Build a Bear employees to archaeologists, people from all walks of life chimed in to share their experiences in jobs that sound appealing, but aren't always so fun IRL.

Next, read this classic internet tale of one dude who got back at his food-stealing roommate, but the way he did it had some commenters freaking out.

'Remote work is ending, come in Monday': Company demands workers return, ignores mixed reactions

What is it about remote working that some companies hate so much? If your employees can work from home just as well as they can from the office, why not let them? This company is about to have a lesson in valuing its' employees autonomy, as the poster shared to r/Sysadmin.

If you have a job that you can do entirely from your laptop, it's easy to work remotely. Basically all employees love it — you can easily get work done from the comfort of your own home. There are no coworkers to distract you, you can grab a snack from your fridge whenever you feel like it, and most importantly, you can lay in bed in your pajamas and your boss is none the wiser!

As the OP tells it, the workers at their company are not happy to hear that they're suddenly expected to return to the office. I mean, why would they be? It implies that they aren't working to their full potential at home, which just isn't true for most workers. Workers are beginning to realize that they have a lot of power, and I hope the OP and their team manage to get through some tough negotiations about working remotely or in the office. I really hope they update us on the situation — I'm dying to know how many employees will go to another place of employment.

Next up, this small business trusted an influencer to promote some sweet treats, only for this bakery to get ghosted.

'You sure mate? It's a lotta sand': Australian Builder rudely refuses to notify contacts of his new number, ends up with a whole lotta sand where he doesn't want it

When you change your phone number you should probably do your due diligence and let people who are likely to contact you know that there is a new way to do so. Otherwise, whatever poor sod ends up with your old number is just going to be inundated with requests to reach you. This is especially true if you're operating a business or doing something that fields a high volume of phone calls. But, if you ended up with my old number, it would never even be an issue; I don't stay in contact with anyone, and my phone hardly rings anyways, so the chances that you're going to get a mistaken phone call are nearly zero. Still, if someone named Linguine Larry ever contacts you, I'd appreciate it if you didn't divulge any knowledge of my whereabouts.

Anyways, this builder refused to notify his business contacts of his new number, and as a result, ended up with a whole lotta sand right where he didn't want it.

'By 9AM, I'm on my 18th glass of sweet tea': Texan explains the daily routine for rootin' tootin' cowboys, which includes practicing yeehaws, gargling beers, and jacking up yer pickup truck

Cowboys and cowgirls are giddyupping faster than the world can follow, chugging sweet tea, room temperature beers, and yeehawing all the way to the Whataburger. Southern American lifestyle is an enigma to the rest of the world. The only thing more American than a standardized mayonaise-midwesterner is a true, pure bred Texan. The Lone Star State has an insane vibe that the rest of the country just can't match. Their blood is pickle juice, their trucks are tall, and they will always– ALWAYS– remember the Alamo.

A Texan influencer recently created a short that captured the essence of the Texan lifestyle by running through a day in his life. For non Texans, you just wouldn't understand the duties and diligence required to maintain our nation's biggest state's honor. Those stereotypes aren't going to uphold themselves. So slide on your cowboy boots and grab yourself a glass of sweet tea, the whole point of this is to enlighten the world on all things Longhorn.

**solemnly** Therefore… yeehaw.

'I have no interest working for you': 30+ entitled people getting their much-deserved comeuppance

Is there anything more satisfying than bearing witness to an entitled person facing the fact that they have absolutely no power? There's a special kind of satisfaction that comes with people getting their much-deserved comeuppance. These Redditors know that all too well. They shared their stories via this thread on r/AskReddit

The main takeaway from all these stories is that no matter who you are, where you live, or what industry you work in, you will come across people who think they have more authority than they actually do. Call it karma or whatever, but the truth of the matter is all these so-called "authoritarian figures" had it coming and deserved the treatment that they received. Think of it as the equivalent of getting a taste of their own medicine. As Justin Timberlake once said, what goes around comes around. Keep scrolling below for the full anecdotes. 'If you're reading this, you've won $50': Parents bribe kids to clean bathroom but make an ultimatum

Whatever it takes to get your kids to clean up after themselves! This thread was posted to Reddit's r/funny subreddit by u/prevuznack, who shared that she and her husband hid a note in their bathroom to see if their kids would find it. The note would reward them with $50 provided that they clean the bathroom like they were asked to, but there's a catch.

The note, which was dated January 17th, 2023, also states that the number of days between when the note was written and when it was found will be taken from the total. As many folks in the comments pointed out, this could end up becoming a lesson on debt and/or interest, considering that it's very likely these kids won't discover the note after 50 days. While it could be fun to watch this all unfold from an objective perspective, it might not be fun for the parents to see it all happen if the dirty bathroom ends up attracting unwanted creatures. Was this genius parenting or is it a parenting FAIL in the making?

20+ People Share the Subtle Signs That Someone is an A-Hole

If someone is snapping their fingers at waitstaff, shouting down a customer service rep, or abusing a stranger—they're an a-hole—absolutely no question about it; by acting in this way, they have broadcast their character loud and clear to the rest of us. But not all a-holes are quite so blatant; some do an incredible job of disguising themselves as a well-meaning person—a wolf in sheep's clothing—if you will. These people can go undetected for long periods of time, only exposing themselves in small, subtle ways.

These Redditors gathered on a thread posted to the popular r/AskReddit subreddit in order to share their thoughts on what these things might be. "What are [the] minor red flags that you use [to] see as a subtle but very indicative sign the other person is an a**hole?" the original poster, u/mountcoffee, posed.

I—uhh, found that very wordy and hard to get out, so I'm rephrasing this question to: "What subtle red flags indicate that someone is an a**hole?"

Keep reading for this collection of responses, and feel free to share with us some thoughts of your own.

'He thinks he will catch a lunch thief. Of course, he ends up flashbanging himself': Kevin manager goes on rampage to find out who stole his sandwich

Tuna sandwich thieves, your days are numbered once this bumbling manager finds you!

This is the story of "Kevin: The Last Grocery Emperor," a colorful and imaginative grocery store manager. As told by one of Kevin's employees, the man was a tyrant at this grocery store. He seems more or less incapable of actually leading a team, and is way more concerned with one thing: guarding his lunch from the lunch thief. Someone was stealing Kevin's precious tuna sandwich, and he'd be darned if he'll let them get away with that!

This Kevin is incredibly goofy, and I'm genuinely surprised he didn't get anyone hurt. At one point in this story, he does something completely disgusting, and I actually can't believe that no one called the health department on that man. The workers were well paid, so they were willing to put up with pretty much anything!

Then read this article about a waitress who has crowned herself the "Queen of Petty" after she saved her coworkers from a non-tipping customer.

‘I Won’t Sign Your Weird Contract’ : College Student Dodges Unfair Grading via Malicious Compliance, Professor Left Speechless When She Can’t Fail Her

Study guides are basically the hail mary of every student, but there are professors who don't believe in this practicality — because they would rather encourage their students to read the entire material, adding to the sublime mountain of headache they already have. In my opinion, any professor who does this is simply lazy. Why don't the students just buy the books and not pay for classes? It would certainly be much cheaper. Thanks for adding to the small fortune I owe to the banks called student debt.

It turns out that this professor was one of those types of people. Moreover, she apparently handed out a 'grading contract' that no student had formerly agreed to when they joined her class. This contract asked the students to indicate what grade they wanted at the start of the semester, and if they did not meet the conditions for that grade, they would fail.

To be perfectly frank, I find this ludicrous. In a nutshell — if the students want an A, they either meet the qualifications for said A, or fail — even if they could have gotten a lesser grade and passed the class? It makes no sense. So one student in particular decided that she would not conform to these stupid rules, and via malicious compliance, passed the class without actually doing the final at all.

Scroll down to read her detailed account below. If you're procrastinating at your job and feel like you need some serotonin to make it to the end of the day, you're also welcome to check out these funny work memes.

'Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked. I hated it so much that I wanted to cry': 35 Terrible movies that people regret seeing in theaters

What's the worst movie you've ever paid to see in a theater?

One poster in the r/Movies subreddit asked this burning question, and people had some incredible answers! A lot of people seemed to see "Epic Movie" in theaters, which is understandable, because if you're a teen, you might think that movie sounded cool. But the people who paid money to see "Highlander 2" and "Holmes and Watson" in theaters, WYD? I'm so sorry to those people who paid to see those on the big screen.

Someone else said they paid to see the "Emoji Movie" in theaters. That movie deadened my soul, so I'm glad I watched it on a streaming service while babysitting, the way it was intended to be seen. The kids loved the movie, but when you're a kid, you tend to love most movies. Some people in the comments shared this sentiment, saying some movies made them realize for the first time that a film could actually be unenjoyable.

Next up, these people spilled the tea on the worst romantic gestures they've ever experienced.

20 School Fails That Prove Teachers Are Human Too

This one goes out to all the teachers out there! You should be getting paid way more given what you all have to put up with, but until that happens, here is a compilation of school-related fails from textbook typos to innocent classroom mistakes. When you're done, here's a list of roommate fails.

'He bought me a beautiful pendant... unfortunately I'm allergic to nickel': 30+ People share the most unromantic gestures they've ever experienced

Creating memorable romantic gestures is a skill that not everyone has, according to the people who shared these hilariously bad romantic missteps

The OP asked r/AskWomen to tell the story of the "worst well-intended romantic gesture a SO ever did for you," with the added bonus of sharing their reaction. People shared a lot of really terrible presents, along with some situations that just seemed like mistakes.

I'm infuriated for the woman who shared the story of her friend being proposed to with a ring that turned her finger green. She goes on to say that the fiance insists that she's just not washing her hands properly, and that's what's causing the green skin tone. Some people just aren't meant to be together, and you can definitely tell by the quality and thought that goes into these presents. When the gift is so far removed from what the person actually wants, it opens your eyes to how wrong the relationship actually is.

After you check out these unfortunate gestures gone wrong, read about these people who had super embarrassing moments, and still decided to share them with the world.

'You all sound unhappy and miserable': Guy discovers his wife has been communicating with his estranged sister, now threatens divorce

Send all these people to therapy! Rarely do the ruthless judges of Reddit's AITA community come across a story where virtually every single party makes a compelling case for being the AH. This thread was posted by u/thegoldenstitch, who demonstrated how the divorce of his parents years ago completely turned his relationship with multiple family members upside down.

Not only did the Redditor become estranged from his mother after her infidelity, but he also became estranged from his sister, who clearly played no part in the divorce herself. By the time OP met his wife, he informed her about these difficult dynamics, and while it might have been inappropriate of her to engage in communication with her sister-in-law's husband, at least she did something to try to mend the relationship. All her husband was doing was stewing and taking the very questionable advice of his dad, who seemed to be driving a wedge between his son and his daughter-in-law. Messy!

'I'm A Genius!' : Top 20 Funniest Verdicts By Shower Masterminds We've Seen This Week

Good ideas are never born when you're on the brink of a mental breakdown or having a panic attack at work. I am convinced that the best ideas actually come to mind when you're simply chilling. We can take Isaac Newton as an example, as it has historically been suggested that he came up with the law of universal gravitation after an apple plopped onto his head, while he was resting under a tree. There is no actual evidence to support the theory, but the myth has not been entirely dispelled, so we're gonna take it as a fact for now.

My point is: Shower thoughts. Your thoughts wander through the different weird valleys in the atoms of your brain, frolicking about and coming to some pretty strange, but accurate conclusions. Whether you're a Wim Hof fan and you're trying to distract yourself as you sit miserably in the ice-cold shower, or if you're normal and are enjoying a warm temperature, showers seem to be blessed with a certain magic that allows you to capture said thoughts and figure out you're secretly a genius.

There is a Reddit thread that is entirely dedicated to Shower Thoughts, and while scrolling through it, I've picked out some of the best I've seen this week. You can check them out down below. If you're having a tough time at work this week, you're welcome to click here for a great ol' batch of memes that are sure to make it just a little bit better.

'Some people might not think it was purely platonic': Married guy goes off the grid once a year with his friend, wife gets enraged

This guy tried to paint his wife as annoying, but the truth came out in the comments. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit by u/Remarkable-Use-8439, who shared that he and his male friend have been going on a phones-free vacation once a year for over a decade. His wife seemed comfortable with this, but now that they are married and living together, she became annoyed that he was difficult to reach.

That's the story this Redditor tried to tell, but what actually was going on here was much more questionable. OP revealed in the comments section that he and his friend had been intimate before back in their college days and implied that their relationship might not be purely platonic. So while in theory, he's not the AH for wanting to have a weekend off the grid with his friend, in reality, this was clearly a relationship that made his wife uncomfortable. Sounds like there's a lot of self-discovery this guy needs to explore.

The Best Service Industry Memes of the Week for Servers and Bartenders Who Never Thought They'd Be Here This Long (January 27, 2022)

It all starts when you take that summer job during college at the local restaurant when you're studying to be a doctor. It's fast paced, the money's pretty good, and your entire employee roster has hooked up with pretty much everybody. Sometimes you might even get free food! When you're 20, that's the dream right? Well then the money got too good and you forgot about post-grad degrees. The longer you were bussing the tables, the more they moved you up on the hierarchy and then you became a ~server~, the most coveted position in the room. Now, you're making bank on tips and wondering why your back hurts all the time and your cheeks get tight from fake smiling all night. Oh, that's because you're 30 now and the last decade of partying with your coworkers and spending all your cash has flown by pretty fast. Uh oh. Well, at least your entire friend group works on the weekends and parties on Monday so there's no reason to start being a corporate clown at this point. You might as well go to bartending school and just become a part of the system.

'What are my options?': Restaurant owner fires server and holds $2000 for ransom to force signing of illegal NDA

Working in the service industry is often stressful and traumatic for a number of reasons. On the one hand, you're often treated poorly by clientele, who mostly regard you as subhuman because of your line of work. On the other hand, you're at the mercy of the unrealistic expectations and unethical practices of the small business owner who owns the place, and—let's be honest—these people often shouldn't be allowed to operate a business or have responsibility over the livelihood of others.

These owners are often willfully negligent of labor practices and standards, more likely to laugh in your face at the request for fair treatment than to take on board any meaningful feedback. Margins are slim in this business, and despite already being paid pennies for your work, when it comes to their bottom line, you're their most costly—yet most controllable—resource.

This worker shared their experience to Reddit's r/Serverlife subreddit, sharing how they had been fired for questionable reasons, and their ex-employer was now holding $2000 of their pay as ransom to force them to sign an NDA. They shared their story in order to as the service subreddit for advice, of which they received plenty.

. . .

Keep reading to see this story and the advice the original poster received. For more, check out this job advertisement for a server that sparked debates online over the outrageously low wage.

'Restaurants like that don't deserve to work': Worker claims to be wrongly fired, reports restaurant to the feds

A young person in the food industry experienced poor treatment from their boss, and took some extreme measures to ensure it wouldn't happen again. As they shared to r/pettyrevenge, this worker shared that they were a 19 year old working in a pizza place. After a while of working in a nice environment with coworkers they liked, the place changed management, and that's when the s*** hit the fan.

The OP says they trained the new people, yet the new management still made some inflammatory remarks against the OP. As the OP writes, they had to take a medical leave from their job, but since it was the first week since the new management started, that didn't look good for the OP. To discover what happened next, scroll down and read this pizza drama yourself.

Up next, get inspired by another revenge story. This guy took down an entire HOA organization in an incredible stroke of genius (and legal methods, of course).

Update: Landowner returns after 3 years to tell the story of how they defeated a backstabbing HOA and land developer

What are you to do when you purchase something only to have the terms of sale retroactively changed by a governing association? Oh, and that governing association is controlled by the organization that sold you the thing in the first place. Well, lawyer up and hit them with a strongly worded email letting them know just angry you are.

After a three-year hiatus, this landowner returned to share the grippingly realistic tale of how they managed to defeat a land developer and HOA who had changed the terms of sale after they had purchased their lot. This story may not end with a fund-siphoning, power-tripping, fraudulent HOA board member getting ousted—and the whole HOA disbanded… but it does strike a few chords of realism that these stories seldom manage to.

Keep reading for this two-parter. The original thread is items #2-14 and the recent update is items #15-26.

Top 25 Most Mildly Infuriating Moments of the Week (January 27, 2023)

Bad landlords, careless delivery drivers, and wrong labels on food — these are just a smattering of random things that got on people's last nerve this week.

R/Mildlyinfuriating is constantly updated with irritations big and small, submitted by folks around the world. Several people have posted receipts with mysterious new charges. One had an 'economic recovery fee,' which is bold way of begging for coins, I suppose. One person shared a pan that was never washed between meals, which surely started drama in the comments section. I actually just want to talk to the person who wanted their pizza "well done" and received a smoky pizza indeed. What the heck is a well done pizza? Much to think about.

On a slightly larger scale, one guy posted a photo from the top of Mount Everest. It's covered with trash due to the tons of people who climb it every year and leave their garbage at the top. Ugh, humans are the worst. Keep scrolling to see these relatable mild annoyances. Then, check out one guy's approach to dismantling his HOA after they demanded dues they weren't entitled to — it's such a satisfying read.

'Get a better job': Terrible mother borrows car from son and shames him when he wants to drive it to work

The support of your parents can be extremely determinant of your own success—the trade-off being that their support in raising you out of diapers will be repaid when they return to them. It's a fair trade—when the parents uphold their end of the deal and aren't depraved and selfish narcissists—or otherwise toxic and destructive to be around. Now, we're all complicated people, and none of us are without our flaws, but some people are better off far away… and out of your life.

Take this delightful individual who turned the generous act of receiving a car to borrow from her child into a way of shaming them for their job, wealth, and current place in life; responding to their request to temporarily take their car back with hateful and vile language intending to browbeat them into leaving the car in her care.

The irony of this entire situation is not to be ignored. How fitting for someone who is borrowing someone else's car to insist they get a better job so that they can afford to take an Uber while that same car is being borrowed.

'It's a huge red flag and you know it': First date gives man the creeps after she spills her invasive 'research'

One guy took to the r/ask subreddit with a burning question after a first date took a strange turn. Is this how dating works in the modern age?

As he explained, he went on a first date with a woman, and it seemed to be going well. But after the date — and spending the night at her place — he realized that she had spilled a little too much information about him. She had researched him beforehand, and just rattled off all this personal information. At the time, the OP thought it was really weird, and asked the Reddit community if she was justified in researching him beforehand.

In the comments, the OP did add that what his date found was uncovered from publicly available information, like social media. The things she knew about him, like previous states he'd lived in, could be found that way, but she went even further and dug up information about his whole extended family.

In the comments, people were quite divided on if the woman had gone too far, or if she was justified in researching publicly available information. In today's day and age, you have to do your research before you meet IRL. But there's no need to just lay all that information out on the table from date number one! Just make sure you aren't dating someone with a troubling history.

'Why you living like this bro?': Trashy budget chef makes crazy elaborate recipes using nothing but motel bathroom supplies

Eating food that has touched unsanitary surfaces is revolting for some people and, as far as gross environments go, motel bathrooms are arguably the most disgusting communal areas known to man. Motel bathrooms are basically a receptacle for all human excretions and it's not always cleaned (or nuked?) appropriately. However, for one non-discriminating foodie has combined the horrors of motel bathrooms with the culinary arts, building his entire social media platform on creating elaborate recipes on the go, turning motel bathrooms into a make-shift kitchen. Barfly7777, a middle-aged American man has turned the culinary game upside down and has gone viral by sharing his impressive, but somehow still disgusting hotel bathroom recipes with favorites such as "Trashcan Pork", "Hotel Countertop Pizza", and "Toaster Chicken".

'Scammers Scammed By Uncle and Granny' : Backyard Dealership Scams Two Innocent Old Ladies with Defunct Cars, Uncle Takes the Ultimate Revenge and Tricks Swindler Into Taking the Loss On $10,000

Some people think there are only two types of people on the world: Scammers and suckers. The scammers do the scamming and take advantage of everybody and anybody, that especially includes your elderly grandma who is just trying to buy a car. However, that is a horrible way to look at like and if you do that, you are going to get some instant karma in some way—perhaps in some ultimate epic petty revenge.

A Redditor recently shared a story of their elderly grandma getting scammed and then his uncle serving some epic justice in the form of petty revenge. The Redditor's grandfather had just passed and his grandma was looking for a new car. Being old and innocent, she went and bought a car from a backyard shady dealership. After only a few days, the car's engine blew up and it was un-driveable. The scammer did nothing to help and told them that when you buy a used car "not every purchase is a winner, it's just the luck of the draw." He's not wrong, but when the same thing happened to a second elderly woman from the same dealership, this Redditor's uncle had enough.

The uncle got a cheap car, sold it back to the dealership, but not before he completely emptied It of any fluids and completely clogged the radiator. When the dealer tried to call him out on selling him a lemon car, the man simple said, "that's just the luck of the draw."

Revenge is best served ice cold, babyyyyy! Read the entire story below.

'This was my dream when I worked in retail': Barista plays controversial 'mean prank' on rude customer

One high schooler asked r/AITA a question about her job conduct: was she in the wrong for playing a 'mean prank' on a customer who berated her? Often on the r/AITA page, there's a swift conclusion of who was the a****** and who wasn't. But this time, there's an interesting nuance in the answers, with some commenters blaming the OP for her shortsighted approach to customer service. Others, of course, immediately sided with the OP, calling the customer the jerk in this scenario.

I'm surprised that the OP and her coworkers were able to pull this prank off. It doesn't seem like the kind of thing you could just go around and do all the time, especially since one of her coworkers is the owner's son! I'd probably be driven away from the establishment if I witnessed this prank go down. I wouldn't want to support an establishment whose managers treat their staff that way. After all, the other customers don't know this is a prank.

Scroll down to see if you think this prank went too far, or if the OP is totally justified in this hilarious joke. Then, read another prank of sorts — one bride found out her family member was going to upstage her, so she flipped the script!

20+ of the Best Dungeons and Dragons Memes of the Week (January 25, 2023)

The sense of budding adventure, guiling improvisation, and mischievous creativity that takes can take place over a simple kitchen table during a session of DnD is nothing that you can accurately describe… The hard part is just getting everyone to the table.

We live in a complex world where our lives and commitments are in constant flux, making it hard to make consistent plans for our hobbies and personal pleasures. Besides—let's be honest—the last few years haven't been the best for organizing social gatherings indoors; now that assembling a council in close quarters is back on the menu, it seems like all those other commitments (that were also on hold) are taking precedence.

We can only hope that the tides of change will bring you and your fellow adventurers back into a session very soon. Until then, enjoy these memes to keep your adventurous spirit alive.

'She has always tried to one-up me': Update! Bride changes party dress code to humiliate overdressed half-sister

As the saying goes, no one knows how to push your buttons better than your family. When you're raised together or spend lots of time together, you soon realize just what makes people tick. In this family, there's a silent war going on between the OP and her half-sister, who always tries to one-up her at everything — even her own engagement party.

The OP shared this infuriating tale to r/pettyrevenge, but in my humble opinion, this is pro-level revenge. After announcing a party to celebrate her engagement, the OP got a tip from her cousin. Her half-sister was planning on wearing a stunning gold and white dress to OP's engagement party. It literally does look like a wedding dress, and a very fancy and expensive one at that! The OP included a photo to prove just how unhinged this half-sister's idea really was. If you know the first thing about weddings in many countries, it's so simple — don't wear a dress that's fancier than the bride's! Some people just can't help it. They need to be the center of attention at all times.

That's a shame for the OP, who did share an update after the fact. It's not the best update, but hopefully they'll be happier with their new family arrangement. Scroll down to check out the story below. Then, swim into the deep end with these watery memes about fish and sharks.

'Your expectations are not realistic': Entitled Karen Mom fights with daycare stuff over nap time

Lady, if you're going to be this difficult, get a nanny! This entitled Karen Mom decided it was within her right to complain to the daycare staff about not adhering to her child's personalized sleep schedule. She shared her story via this thread on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit.

The complete lack of self-awareness within this post is astonishing. Did she seriously think that the daycare staff would alter their entire schedule to this one particular child's needs? Furthermore, these people are professionals and are handling the nearly impossible task of taking care of so many children at once. But above all, the main takeaway from this story is that if you're going to be so entitled, insistent, and difficult, you might as well just save the money to get your own personal nanny for your kid. Now, I would never want to be that nanny, but that's a whole other story.

Karen tries to get "excluding" adults only Valentine's Day neighborhood event cancelled because her kids can't come

Everyone is the hero of their own story: Where we see this neighborhood Karen as just that, she sees herself as a vigilante hero fighting for justice—a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a dark knight.

Sometimes you die the hero; sometimes, you live to see yourself become the villain—sometimes still, you never were actually the hero in the first place.

This Karen took offense to the fact that the neighborhood was throwing a Valentine's Day event for adults only, no kids invited. The Redditor who posted this topic seemed to be letting on to the fact that this rule was instated this year specifically because of this Karen. Keep in mind that this is a private event at a private residence, so it really doesn't stand within the bounds of reason for Karen to have an opinion at all.

Luckily the other neighbors quickly put Karen in her place.

‘Fine, I’ll Play the System’ : Man Commutes 175 Miles per Day to Work, Company Refuses to Reimburse Him for Transit, Leading to Malicious Compliance

Committing to a 6+ hour commute to work every day is a superpower that most of us cannot claim to have. I certainly wouldn't be willing to do that under any circumstance. This Redditer told his impressive tale of malicious compliance, where he beat the system that was designed to fail, after asking his company to reimburse his travel costs.

At the time he was living in San Diego, working in Downtown Los Angeles (that's a 175-mile per day commute). He was in the middle of studying for an exam that would allow him to become a licensed Journeyman Electrician and chose to ride the train to gain some study time, instead of driving his car in the difficult LA traffic.

He rode a train and a subway to work every day for three entire months. To say he has some incredible tenacity is putting it lightly. This would have cost the company only about $17, had they been willing to be reasonable. But they decided that they were only willing to pay for gas and parking ($50) — if you're raising your eyebrows, join the club. We're all confused.

‘I Demand a Raise’ : 20+ Memes of the Week for Grumpy Overworked Employees Who Are Ready to Abandon the Workplace

Almost every workplace is understaffed these days, leading to its employees being overworked, even though they don't get proper compensation for doing more than one job… it's enough to make anyone mad. If you call in sick, you know your boss is gonna make that face… not that you'd see it, but you would certainly know that it's happening. You can practically hear the grimace over the phone (or text, when they reply with a bitter 'feel well' because what are they gonna do?).

Work takes up so much time in our day… between 8-10 hours. That is a long time to be dealing with annoying coworkers, an irritating boss who never reads your emails, and to be feeling overall quite miserable. That's where procrastination comes into play — memes are a great pastime, especially if you're supposed to be working. They add a bit of much-needed serotonin to an otherwise dull and tiring day. So without further ado, scroll down and check out some of the best coworker/boss memes we've got for you today.

McDonald's Accidentally Hands Guy $5,000 Instead of His Food Order, Valiantly Returns It, Goes Insanely Viral and Doesn't Know What to Do

This man was thrust into major local popularity and he has no idea what to do with it, and that is somehow making him even more popular!

Josiah Vargas recently went insanely viral overnight after posting a TikTok video of a McDonald's incident where he ended up being the hero. Some employee, who must haven been overworked, exhausted, or something, handed Vargas a McDonald's bag, thinking it was his drive-thru order. However, after he drove away and looked inside the bag, he found wads and wads of cash. It turns out they accidentally handed him $5,000 of their deposit money. Vargas, being a good samaritan, returned the money and the employees of the McDonald's were so relieved and grateful they were crying and hugging him. They also gave him $200 and a free month of McDonald's.

He didn't care about any of that, but it didn't matter, because after he posted that video he instantly blew up. He went viral on the app and has no been interviewed on local news outlets, radio stations, and more. He has no idea how to handle the overnight fame, but says he is getting help from his Gen Z sister. Apparently, it was her idea in the first place for him to make a video of him returning the money. Now, her is simply trying to figure out how to be his awkward self while also using his new fame to it's advantage. His awkward videos are so true to himself, it's actually working and making him even more popular.

'We got a pre-paid debit card with my dog's name on it': Puzzling mystery ensues after woman keeps getting mail addressed to her dog Skipper

It all started a month after a couple moved into a new home with their dog. They had hardly been in their new place for more than a month when they started getting mail that was not addressed to them. Usually, people will get mail from the previous tenants or something like that. But this couple was getting mail addressed to their dog.

At first it was funny, the dog's first piece of mail was a Jiffy packet of recipes. It was addressed to their dog's first name Skipper and one of the couple's last name. They asked all their friends and family if they had done this, but they were all just as confused. They checked all of their accounts to see if maybe they put their dog's name down for something and forgot, but they hadn't. Even their dog-related accounts, like the vet's office or their Chewy account was not under their dog's name.

It got even more confusing after receiving two at-home Covid tests in the mail addressed to Skipper and then a pre-paid Western Union debit card with Skipper's name on it. That is when they took to TikTok to see if anybody else has experienced this. What should they do? They called Western Union and they just said someone must have sent it to them in their dog's name and that's that. So now they have all this free stuff… Well, technically their dog does.

'I don’t owe this money but in fact they owed me': HOA tries to trick tenant into paying aunt's debts, tenant fights back

Your daily reminder that HOAs are the worst! This thread, which was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit, is just further proof of this well-known fact. In this instance, the Redditor had been living with their aunt, the owner of the apartment, when she died. The Redditor was then led to believe by the HOA that they were responsible for paying off her debt.

First of all, the Redditor was not her next of kin, but that didn't matter for the HOA, which tried to trick the Redditor by making them the primary tenant after the aunt's death so that they could settle the issue. Well, when the Redditor crunched the numbers, they realized that they actually overpaid their portion of the rent and that the HOA owed them a significant amount of money. Thankfully, they stood up for themselves and traded strongly-worded emails until finally, they were able to get someone on the phone and prove them wrong. Hats off to the original poster for sticking with it and winning out in the end! We rarely get to see a story involving an HOA and have it end positively. Keep scrolling below for the full details. 'AITA for insulting my sister’s wacky baby names?': Woman disagrees with sister's "stripper" baby names and causes dispute

This sister brought out her sister's rage when she gave her opinion of her sister's baby names. Now, it's usually never a good idea to "Yuck someone's yum." but — here's the thing: She's right.

There are a couple of things that are concerning about the sister's behavior, both with how she regards her pregnancy (and the personal significance she's loaded into it) and the names she is suggesting using.

If you think your unborn child represents what is going to be your "redemption," then oh boy, do I feel bad for that child. There's nothing like having the weight of perfection poured onto you before you're even born to create a future adult with "gifted child burnout" or severe entitlement issues — depending on how things play out.

And that's before you even get to the name; commenters here have it right: if you desperately want to express your individuality by naming your child something extravagant — save your child the hardship and change your own name to that instead.

Entitled Family Demands Medical Assistance, Embarrassed by Over-the-Top Emergency Medical Response

Be careful what you wish for! If what you desire is urgent medical assistance (for a non-urgent injury) from someone who isn't qualified or even capable of providing that assistance.

The real truth of the matter is that this family felt entitled to receive attention from this customer service representative simply because they were a customer service representative — and that's what they're there for, right? To justify your need to feel important.

I don't know if I can really stand by this college's employee policy of not intervening and providing assistance in any medical emergencies — that's why good samaritan laws exist. You should do whatever you can to help or save someone who is having a medical event; instating policies that demand otherwise is just evidence of the kind of antisocial and negligent hellscape that modern corporatism has thrust upon us. This feels especially relevant here since an allergic reaction to a bee sting can be life-threatening if it causes anaphylaxis.

In this case, though, the sting was very non-threatening, and this family just wanted—no— demanded attention. In the end, they got their comeuppance in the form of exactly what they requested… The monkey's paw curls.

Under the sea: 20+ Marine biology fails for maritime memers

Dive off the deep end into some shrimply incredible fish memes.

Most of the ocean has still never been discovered, even by the mid 2020's! Somehow, humans have visited outer space and explored vast amounts of dry land on Earth, but the ocean is still the Wild West of undiscovered fishies. Roughly 80% of our oceans have never been seen by human eyes. Who knows what's actually down there? Only about 5% of the ocean has been properly documented by scientists, so your guess is as good as anyone's.

The people who study the ocean believe that there are still millions of undiscovered species of fish and animals living deep in the depths of the sea. Then, there are many more millions of microorganisms that are too small to see with the naked eye.

For today, we'll have to make do with the types of fish we do know about, like your common sharks and your generic clownfish. Someday, though, marine biologists will find the coolest fish ever, and then we'll celebrate. Check out these excellent (and highly specific) marine memes below!

‘What’s the Worst Part of Having a Kid?’ : Funniest Relatable Parenting Confessions for the Crowd That Never Sleeps

Were you one of those people who were warned beforehand about the struggles of being responsible for another human being? Or did you glide into the abyss, blissfully ignorant? Either way, they don't just sit there and look cute, as I'm sure you're well aware of now. They are little gluesticks, literally and figuratively. First, because they waddle around you constantly, just always… there. Secondly, they use actual glue and smear it on your couch, in the name of art. They sure are little monsters, but these monsters also happen to be a duplicate of your heart, that walk around freely, which is pretty terrifying.

While scrolling through r/AskReddit, I came across a question posted by u/ApprehensiveShock655, 'What's the worst part of having a child?'. Unsurprisingly, the post garnered a lot of attention, and other users had a lot to say.

If you have kids, or friends who have kids, these confessions below are pretty spot-on relatable-wise. Scroll down to check 'em out. While we're talking about schooling the little ones, click here for some Gen Z entitledness that'll make you roll your eyes and question what the heck happened to humanity.

Karen Leaves 1-Star Review For Tattoo and Piercing Studio, Owner Claps Back

This Karen needs to realize that Tattoo and Piercing studios are probably the last places that are going to put up with nonsense like this. It's no small wonder that they didn't just turn her away when she showed up 15 minutes late to the appointment. Especially since they were staying late in order to keep this appointment.

No way. If this Karen arrived at the Fail Blog tattoo and piercing studio 15 minutes late she'd arrive to find the lights off and doors locked.

There is a whole list of other issues that would have prompted us to turn this Karen and her daughter away. Sorry, go back to the cruddy studio where you got the piercing done.

Party Fails For Folks Who Are Still Recovering From a Lit Weekend

It may be Monday, but we're already gearing up for the weekend! For many of you, it's back to work after two days of what should have been resting. Instead, your weekend was full of late nights and poor decision-making. And after all of that debauchery, are we just expected to put on our formal clothes and head back into the workplace like nothing ever happened? How can one do that when one still suffers from a headache and can't keep anything down?

If we are describing you perfectly, have no fear. You are not alone. In fact, as you will see from this compilation of party fails below, there are countless individuals who are probably still haunted by the decisions they made this past weekend. And yet, next weekend, it is highly likely that we will be doing it all again. As Rihanna once said, cheers to freakin' weekend! For more content like this, check out these oversharing fails.
