This woman went to check the joint account she held with her boyfriend after catching him cheating the night before to her horror he had cleaned out the entire thing. To add insult to injury, essentially all of the money in the account was hers which made him not only a cheater but a thief too.
This thread was posted to Reddit's r/ProRevenge subreddit by user u/Revolutionary_Ant209 who shared the story of her absolutely brutal revenge.
See, the thing was, her ex held a lot of debt. Debt recovery was also the industry she held a lot of insider knowledge in. She had previously used that knowledge to help him escape his debt, but that same knowledge helped her plant the seeds of her revenge.
The thing is, in both the US and UK, paying any amount of an owed debt resets the amount of time that debt recovery agencies have to recover the rest of that debt. Debt recovery agencies will often use this themselves to trick debtors into renewing their own expired debt.
With a plan in place, she proceeded with her plan for some nuclear revenge.
Readers loved the story and said so in the comments.
"You learned a lesson, too," said Zoreb1. "No joint account unless married. It is too easy to cut and run otherwise, and nothing can be done. This won't stop an account from being cleaned out but can be brought up in divorce proceedings."
"Yes it was a very hard but important lesson," replied the original poster. "I just wish it hadn't cost me £5k. It was my own stupid fault. I took that lesson to heart."
