This incredibly rude Karen tangled with a customer service manager who had the authority to terminate her and her husband's lease. When she lost her mind, they lost their lease and their business instead.
This thread was posted by u/Motor-Safety3633 to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit where it earned 19.0k upvotes before being deleted by moderators. No reason was offered for the post's deletion though we can surmise that it was deleted because the mods did not feel that the story quite matched the subreddit's (relatively) strict rules for what constitutes "malicious compliance."
Regardless of how moderators felt, it was clear that readers enjoyed the tale from how they responded in the comments.
"This day will pass [in]to history as the day when Karen REALLY got the manager," replied seremuyo.
"Can't tell if [the] husband was trying to play good cop or if he finally had an epiphany, said Dinlek. "Either way, thank goodness you won't have to deal with them again."
"Honestly I think he had an epiphany," replied the original poster. "Lots of people don't realize this, but when we put you on hold we can hear everything you're saying. I had them on hold I could hear her going off continuously and requesting to speak with me instead. He kept refusing her and telling her that she's making things worse, she needs to calm down and as the call went on he was getting increasingly annoyed by her."
