Life has a way of throwing curveballs at us, but when there's a sign that says "warning, entering curveball area, wear PPE to prevent blunt force trauma to skull" we're that much better for it. Life just has too many weird and specific dangers in store for us to keep track of on our own. And while some signs are totally panic inducing like "you are in a blast zone, do not touch any grenade-like objects you find" it's a lot nicer that we had the warning in the first place. The concept of "what you don't know can't hurt you" isn't applicable to poisonous snakes. And also crowbar wielding highway pirates. And also airtight chlorine gas huts. And also steep cliffsides with non-solid ground. And also lots and lots of bees. You get it.
