Problem-solving is a process. But the first, often most difficult part of problem-solving is actually identifying the problem itself. Sometimes the issue is just in a person's imagination, and you're beholden to their questionable opinion in order to "solve" that "problem."
Such is the case with this story of a TV repairman who had a client with a dubious issue. According to her, things just didn't look right. Other than that, there were no real problems to speak of. So what do you do when a problem has been completely invented? Well, this guy went and invented his own solution. This guy was able to make a customer happy with the magical powers of "just making something up." It's a simple solution, but it takes guts to pull off correctly.
