When you're a kid, it's very hard to understand why your parents don't want you to do certain things. And that's not just because most children are narcissistic sociopaths who completely lack the capacity for empathy. It's because kids are so dumb that everything about the world just seems so arbitrary. When you're growing up, you don't realize that someday you're gonna have people depending on you, and those people cannot afford to have you spending all your time getting your head stuck in different buckets and collecting interesting rocks. Though that would be ideal.
Kids are dumb as rocks and weird as heck. These people are expected to one day become functioning members of society, but man, junk like this doesn't inspire confidence. Okay, maybe we should cut them a little slack. How much of a chance do you have at understanding reality when everyone in your social world keeps telling you Santa is real? Maybe it's not a mystery as to why kids are so strange and dumb.
