It's important to realize that for some stuff, the price isn't based on what that thing is worth, but what people are willing to pay for it. Sure, something made from a sought-after resource or requires immense precision, yeah, that makes sense. But paying a thousand dollars to get your car back? Now it's starting to sound like one of those everyday scams people accept as legit.
