'I proceed to lay my arm perfectly on top of his': Dude takes over woman's entire armrest becomes the armrest

It is often said that you become that which you desire most—at least, I think so… I may be making this one up as, if it were true, I'd have turned into a chicken nugget by now. Regardless of whether this is actually an expression, this guy manifested it into existence when he felt entitled to take over the entire armrest between himself and a stranger while attending a theater performance.  Normally this is a bad move. Sure, you might think that the space is there, so someone should use it—and why not you? But what you're missing here is the fact that the no man's land that is the armrest between two strangers should be regarded as a demilitarized zone between hostile countries in that no one should inhabit that space, and the space should never be entered except with explicit permission from the other party.  After being initially taken aback, his neighbor came up with a solution that would bring the situation back under control.  Keep reading for this genius act of petty revenge, as shared with the popular Reddit sub of the same name. Next, see this client who refused to pay a photographer for their work, leading the client to be (predictably) sued.

Top Face Palm Moments This Week (July 7 2023)

Every so often, you come across something on the Internet that reminds you how shockingly wild humans can be. Sure, there's the occasional wholesome picture or comforting story that restores your faith in humanity. But then the exact opposite situation can occur as well. We're talking about moments that remind you how unfair the world can be, how silly people can be, or just how ridiculous life is.    These top moments were compiled from Reddit's r/facepalm subreddit, a home for material that can ignite the kind of jaw-dropping, head-scratching, and head-in-hands reactions that we all had upon seeing these. Some of these screenshots include text exchanges revealing someone's ridiculously poor subtraction skills, a teacher's egregious mistake when correcting a student's quiz, a cheating boyfriend's massive oversight, and a tourist's life-altering fail when traveling abroad in Rome. If these don't elicit a "facepalm"-like reaction, I don't know what will.   Keep scrolling below for this collection of fails. When you're finished, check out these top dating app fails of the week as well as this compilation of the top Karens of the week!

'I sent all these voicemails and screenshots to my module organizer': Group project leader refuses to give all members equal credit for coding project

Group projects only work if everyone involved has to be accountable for their portion of the work. But as you'd know if you've ever had to do a group project, that's not usually how it goes down.  Professors seem to love group projects — maybe it's less work for them to grade if they make all the students work together. Some teachers will claim that working in collaboration with your fellow students can make you a better leader or communicator. College isn't like the real world, though. If you have a person in your group who isn't pulling their weight, a lot of professors don't care at all. As long as you turn in a project, they don't mind how it gets done.  At least in the workplace, you usually have some way to report a coworker who isn't doing their job properly. In a group project in college, someone can easily do five minutes of work and still get an A on the project, so long as someone else did five days worth of work.  This person, u/notABadGuy3, actually did that. They worked their tail off on this project, noting that alongside going to school 20 hours per week, they put in 200 hours of work on the project! This student is clearly an A++ overachiever type, and they were distressed to learn that the others in their group wanted undue credit for the project.  Check out the way they maliciously complied with this project in the story below. Then, this manager is caught between his boss and the outspoken employee who keeps saying outrageous things to the big boss.

'I would just act stupid': Diabolical fast food employee gets back at sneaky Karen customers commenters then solve mystery of broken ice cream machines

We all know that the fast food industry is dirty in more ways than one. An obvious and well-known downfall to fast food is working for them. They are notorious for paying minimum wage and many even have their own lobbyist fighting to lower the minimum wage. It's disgusting. So most people know that working in fast food is painful to the soul. You are not only not making enough money to get by, but you are also constantly berated by Karen customers.  One fast food employee found a way to entertain themselves while working in fast food that simultaneously took a little satisfying petty revenge on those Karen customers. Basically, their soda machine did not dispense water and everyone knows that you can ask for a cup to get water for free and then usually sneak some free soda instead. But not at this location, if you asked for water, they would have to go out of their way to go fill up a cup in the back for you. This person had to deal with customers coming in, not buying anything and only asking for a cup of water. She would then see them dump the water and try to get free soda. But little did they know that this employee had a way of turning off the machine from her end. So when they would go up to it, ~click~ the machine all of a sudden didn't work anymore. She wouldn't have cared that they were stealing soda if they weren't total jerks to her. They would stomp over and freak out at her and she would just act like she didn't know why the machine wasn't working…  The best part about this post is not the satisfying petty revenge, but the mystery being solved In the comment section. Some people might already know that the ice cream machine that is always broken at fast food restaurants is a monopoly and has very decisive reasons why it breaks. But now we have actual employees and past employees of fast food restaurants getting down to the nitty gritty on exactly why they are always broken. See for yourself below.

'She doesn't seem to care about speaking her mind': Outspoken employee blasts big boss manager tells her to 'rethink her future with the company'

This boss manages a team of people who recently got a new hire — and he thinks she isn't fitting into the company culture.  We roast a lot of bosses on this site, but we don't always get the story from their point of view. Managing people is a role that some people shine at, becoming the boss that everyone loves and feels they can talk to openly. But on the other hand, people management is not for everyone, a lesson that the commenters on this post strongly suggested the OP should learn.  U/tway12412421 wrote the r/AmItheA**hole, asking if he was wrong to give his employee an ultimatum for working at the company. As he explains it, his new hire has a habit of talking rudely to the director of the company, aka the OP's boss. This seems to be super embarrassing to the OP for some reason — it's like he thinks that everything she does is rude. At best, it seems like this woman is not a good fit for the (toxic) company culture. At worst, she is being rude, but that should be her problem to deal with. Instead, the OP is taking her snarky words to heart and getting upset over it.  His ultimatum to her is a true step too far… you can read the entire saga for yourself below, as well as the commenters who gave him some pointed advice. After that, this employee was told to "actually read the policy," so they sat down, read the fine print, and managed to make their company regret it.

The Best Dating App Fails of the Week (July 6 2023)

The intricate workings of dating app algorithms are beyond us, at this point. It seems as though fate has conspired against us in this realm of digital romance. Tinder stands as both a glorious boon and a dreadful curse upon our species. On the one hand, it liberates us from the need to initiate face to face encounters with potential love interests. On the other hand, alas, it retrains us from indulging in the cherished art of approaching others in the real world. Whether one seeks a casual arrangement or a profound connection, the quest has become simultaneously easier and more arduous. With each swipe, we are enticed by the promise of finding what we are looking for, yet reality fails to live up to these lofty expectations we have set for ourselves. Suppose, by some stroke of fortune, one gets a match, initiates a conversation, and arranges a meeting. More often than not, one is left to suffer the ignominy of being ghosted, stood up, or subjected to the presence of an individual with a peculiar proclivity for madness. Occasionally, there may be a shining moment of success, a serendipitous discovery amidst the tumultuous sea of potential partners. Such instances are as rare as finding a nugget of gold in a vast expanse of barren earth. So, to feel less alone, we find ourselves scrolling through dreadful dating app fails, which are pretty hilarious. For more, here is a resident who got back at his neighbor who consistently dented his car every time they parked in the spot next to it.

'[I] covered my father's whole house in ants': Guy's plan to get back at Dad for being too controlling backfires attracting colonies of ants

Sometimes, revenge plans can have unexpected consequences that make the whole story significantly more entertaining. We know that in a perfect world, our plotting and scheming will go according to plan. But as we know all too well on this site, this is by no means a perfect world. Plans can backfire, and in this case, they backfired gloriously.    This dude shared his story via this thread on Reddit's r/pettyrevenge subreddit. He prefaced his tale of vengeance with some background about his recent job, which requires him to travel the world and thankfully paid enough for him to finally move out from under his controlling, overprotective father's nose. The only caveat to this job is that while the position is totally legal, the Redditor cannot reveal the name of his company to anyone, especially nosy family members like his Dad.    After repeatedly trying to explain his situation to his father to no avail, his Dad decided to snoop around and essentially stalk his son's every move. This meant that even though the Redditor finally moved into his own place, it still felt like his father was breathing down his neck. On top of that, his father still believed that what his son was doing for a living must have been shady. So, the son decided to play a little trick on him by planting packets of sugar all over his father's house, hoping to freak out his Dad when he discovered them. However, that isn't exactly what went down. That's because a giant colony of ants came across the packets of sugar first and the Redditor's Dad had to get an exterminator involved. Oh well! That's what you get for snooping, I guess.   Keep scrolling below for the full story. When you're finished, check out these top choosing beggars of the week!

Top Karens of the Week (July 7 2023)

It's summer and Karens are in heat! We know that things can get a little heated for any regular human over the summer. Tensions can rise as high as the temperature, and people can get a little bit testy. Now, if that's the case for regular humans, imagine what happens to the entitled Karens of the world during these months. It's probably not too dissimilar from what you're imagining right now. Essentially, they "hulk out" but to the tenth power.    These top Karens of the week were compiled from Reddit's r/F***YouKaren subreddit, and we've got a wide variety of material for you here. The first Karen made some big assumptions about the Redditor at a campsite. Let's just say that we feel for her husband. Next, we have an epic multi-part saga involving a Karen roommate and her inability to pay the rent on time. This one goes to some pretty extreme places, with the Redditor eventually having to call the police because of Karen's unhinged behavior. For this one, we also included some wild text messages from roomie Karen so you can really get a sense of what she's like. Then, we've got a nosy Karen who involved a manager because of a bag of cherries. Finally, we're leaving you with a tale of a Karen at a photo lab who accused the employees of taking her son when in reality, he was just playing a prank on her.   Keep scrolling below for the full stories. When you're done, check out these top choosing beggars of the week!

'[Quitting] started a cascade of resignations': IT guy quits after boss expects him to handle an absurd workload watching the company implode as management tries to pull the same tricks on the rest of the employees

Just because someone knows how to reset the router, doesn't meant they're an IT specialist. For some reason, C-level bosses and upper management (the kind of bimbos who are incapable of any sort of 'tech' tinkering) seem to think that every person born after 1990 can handle the specialized career of an experienced tech person, even when it's not in their job description. It's for the good of the company, every employee needs to step up rather than watch their boss hire a professional. In this case, OP was the one IT specialist at his company and was strapped doing the work of an entire department all by his lonesome. After being denied a budget to hire more experienced professionals to manage their enormous workload, OP decided to pack his bags and move on to a more appreciative, more qualified business. As OP walked out the door, the boss thought he could unload all of the IT responsibilities on the rest of the team and found that the work of an experienced professional was essential to the functioning of the company.  Scroll for the full details including a mass resignation and employee exodus, following the belligerently understaffed and misunderstood dealings of a real IT department (and the useless boss that watched it all burn). For more quitter victories, check out this story of an overworked employee that narrowly escaped a resignation lawsuit, but got to watch his company scramble to cover his vacancy.

'[I] pretend I'm a wrestler walking into Wrestlemania': Top 30 Surprising Secret Confessions of the Week (July 6 2023)

You will never believe the situations these people got themselves into.  Sometimes in life, you end up in situations you could never explain your way out of. If you tried to, you know everyone around you would act like you were crazy. Usually, we'll just keep these incidents to ourselves. But many people also choose to share their more memorable secret moments with @fesshole, a popular Twitter account based in the UK.  These confessions often make me glad I don't have kids. For example, one parent admitted to stealing all the chocolate from their kids' advent calendars, then blaming it on the dog, ripped up box and all. That's a lot of effort to put in just to gain a few pieces of chocolate.  Some of the confessions aren't just funny, but sometimes end up being heartbreaking. One person admitted to finding an old flame had put her house up on Airbnb. This person booked a few days at the place just to reminisce about the past. "Makes me happy and sad," the person wrote, noting that they'd both moved on. With the popularity of Airbnb, I'm sure this dude isn't the only one who's booked a place just to have access to some nostalgic memories.  Check out these 30 confessions below. Next up, these people couldn't resist having a little fun with statues, and they've got the hilarious photos to prove it.

A Sprinkling of Random Memes For Easy Entertainment

Damn, y'all. The birds are chirping! The sun is shining! Somehow, in the distance, we can hear a whisper of hope: A whisper of happiness to come. While Spring might have started springing, there's just one problem: It's still Monday, we're still stuck inside, and boy, do we hate our jobs. These metaphorical shackles do their best to keep us cooped up on beautiful days, destroy our morale, and, of course, make us cranky AF. But we gotta pay the bills, so we're clocked in and coffee'd up.  To provide you (and ourselves) with a little respite from the responsibilities that plague us, we've put together another Grade A selection of random, relatable, and sometimes rebellious memes. They're all over the map, which means there's definitely something here for everyone, or at least anyone who is trying to waste some time on or off the clock. You're welcome.

17 Relationship Memes for Couples Whose Love Language Is Showering Each Other in Attention (July 1 2023)

We are pro showering your loved one in attention 24-7. That means all day every day. Every. Single. Day. Not one hour should go by without you letting bae know that they are on your mind. Why would you want them to experience even a single hour without them being reminded how much you care about them? Does that seem excessive? Maybe to some. But if you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen. Seriously. Having a partner who is needy for attention is their delicate and very serious love language, and if you can't speak their love language, then that's a doomed relationship. We're not saying you can't learn the language, it's easy to learn how to speak to someone whose love language is attention. For one, you can start by shooting them one of the memes below every now and then to let them know you're thinking about them. "Oh, you don't think I miss you while I'm at work? Here's a meme saying I do." Ahhhh, isn't love grand?

'I gave a customer a severe allergic reaction': Top Tales From Your Server (July 1 2023)

Anyone who doesn't have mad respect for servers probably couldn't last two minutes during a brunch shift. Just imagine the most stuck-up entitled Karen you've ever met and see how she reacts when she gets a taste of her own medicine from a demanding customer. In fact, I'm of the opinion that this should be the real punishment (or Karen jail, if you will) for entitled customers all over the world. If this brand new collection of stories from Reddit's r/TalesFromYourServer subreddit serves as any indication, there are plenty of worthy candidates for this kind of role reversal experiment.    Among the stories included below, we've got the tale of a gluten allergy and a big mixup, the tale of a family bickering over who's going to pick up the check, the tale of a Karen who kept making the kitchen remake her pancakes, the tale of a couple who expected their meal to be prepared in five minutes, and the tale of a horrid manager who kept letting customers waltz in after closing hours. It sounds like one nightmare after another, and trust me, it reads that way too.    I strongly believe that if entitled customers knew there could be consequences for their words and actions, perhaps everyone would have a better time with their restaurant experiences, especially the servers. Keep scrolling below for these top tales from your server this week. When you're finished, take a look at these top roommate problems of the week for more amusing drama!

'The entire project came crashing down': Coworkers get put in their place when woman stops doing their work

Of all the many frustrating experiences that are waiting for you when you arrive at work, there is arguably none greater than a coworker who refuses to pull their weight. Without fail, their dragging of the chain will hold back the rest of their team, who will have to pick up the slack if they have any hopes of keeping projects on track and hitting KPIs—keeping the ever-watchful roving eye of management looking elsewhere and the team's heads off the chopping block. Still, after weeks, months—years, even—of pulling their weight, it would be foolish not to wonder… why are you still doing this? Why are you enabling them for the sake of avoiding some hard conversations with your manager? Wouldn't it be better to stop pulling their weight and watch as things (inevitably) come crashing down? Of course, one should do so with plenty of receipts in order to thoroughly cover one's behind. That's what this worker did. After growing tired of covering for her coworkers, she put in for some time off, leaving her incompetent coworkers to do their own work for once as their project reached a crucial deadline. She then shared her experience on a popular online community, generating numerous responses from readers. Keep reading to see the responses and screenshots of the original story as it was shared on a popular Reddit community. After you're done here, see this worker who got double leave when their Karen boss didn't submit the proper paperwork.

'Just got passed up for a promotion': IT employee denied promotion by CEO because HR says he's part-time

We've all had the experience of being overlooked by an employer, but this guy had it rough. He had been working at his company for over a decade and had been clocking in over 40 hours a week, and yet somehow, he has been plagued with the status of being a part-time employee despite everyone that this label is far from accurate.   This thread was posted to Reddit by u/SilentMaster, who also helped prove once again that HR is not your friend. This particular HR lady was barely present in the office and had no sense of the kind of support OP needed in his department. He asked for someone to join the team under him to better help the workflow, but HR claimed that this wasn't doable. After HR left the company, OP went to his boss and said that instead of having someone join the team, it's probably a better idea to just have OP promoted to manager with a raise and title that accurately reflects his position at the company. His boss seemingly approved, but apparently, the CEO denied said request because he was informed by the former HR lady that OP was part-time and therefore was under-qualified for such a promotion. What an insult to someone who had been putting in 40 hours a week for over ten years.   Furthermore, a lot of folks in the comments section suggested that the CEO was using the former HR lady's "opinion" as an excuse to not promote OP. Clearly, he had the credentials and was more than willing to have a "full-time" position. We believe this hot take is a compelling one. Why even consider what a former employee who never came to the office had to say anyway? Sounds like a pathetic excuse to us!   For more stories like this, here's one about another IT worker's malicious compliance.

'My coworker should have defended me': Employee forced to pay coworker's boyfriend $20 for a ride after coworker had been carpooling with employee for free

There are so many things this coworker could have done to avoid these consequences. Apparently, she had been getting a free ride to work with this Redditor for over a year, and this didn't seem to bother OP because it was on their way to work. Still, a very generous offer that in and of itself is worthy of some real gratitude.   When the Redditor's car needed to go to the shop, the coworker was informed that they wouldn't be able to use the employee's car on Monday and Tuesday of that week. First, the Redditor said they would find their own ride, but the coworker explained that since her boyfriend was off work that week, he could drive them both to the office. This is where things started to take a turn.    The boyfriend requested $20 from OP for those two days of carpooling. Perhaps he didn't know just how much OP had done for his girlfriend, but even if he didn't, this wasn't an offer worth accepting. OP declined and when the coworker asked about using OP's car again once it was fixed, OP decided to request some money for carpooling as well. It's called reciprocity after all!   The coworker got upset about it, clearly not seeing the hypocrisy in her behavior. Still, the fact that she couldn't confront her boyfriend about the $20 or even pay that amount herself since it was the least she can do says all we need to know about the health of this relationship. Not only do we hope she has a hard time finding transportation to work, but we also hope that this coworker will start to see that her relationship with her boyfriend is insanely backward.   Keep scrolling below for the full story. 20 Workplace memes for employees who can't wait for the weekend

Since you spend so much time at work, you may as well goof off a bit. At least some of the people below feel that way. With a label maker, the possibilities are really endless! Your ability to be passive-aggressive towards that coworker you always roll your eyes at has increased significantly once you hold that label maker in your hand. Other people chose to create signs, which are also hilarious and seem to lead to passive aggression.  The signs I'm most curious about are the ones warning of caustic catastrophe, which are printed out on pieces of paper. Surely those warrant a nice proper sign, no? What's the worst that could happen? Scroll down to check out these excellent fail photos and memes to give yourself the energy to push through til your next day off. After that, just try not to laugh at these stories bosses told of employees being on their craziest behavior.

'Put my order in first! I need it NOW': Top Karens of the Week (June 21 2023)

On this week's Top Karens list, we're covering a lot of ground: stage moms, posh customers, and even vegan Karens. At a certain point, one has to wonder when Karens will slow down, but the unfortunate truth of the matter is that the entitlement only seems to be getting worse in today's cultural climate.   Let's consider why that is. Most of the time, these Karen stories boil down to unruly authority waging a battle against folks who refuse to give in. This obviously says a lot about how our culture has evolved in terms of our collective reaction to people who are unnecessarily rude to employees, strangers, and others based on reductive factors like appearance, status, etc. The fact that we now live in a culture that no longer apathetically accepts this kind of behavior is certainly an improvement. However, the unfortunate part of this trend is that it seems like there have been consequences. Those consequences include Karens doubling down on their behavior rather than considering self-reflection and self-improvement.    Ultimately, this means that we can at least enjoy this infinite supply of Karen stories while we have them. Fan Memes for Sweaty People Who Are Too Poor for AC

Call me a lizard person, but I love hot and humid weather. My hair doesn't thank me, but it's kind of fun feeling like I'm sitting in the middle of a swamp. However, this is on the extremely important condition that I have somewhere cool to retreat to when it all gets to be too much. Ideally, this would come in the form of air conditioning's chilly embrace, but sometimes I can't be that fussy. There are plenty of hot places that have no choice but to go analog with the humble ceiling fan. I know what all the haters say about them only pushing the hot air around. I do not care; my sweat glands have no concept of basic physics. An overheated person will take anything they can get, including a bunch of memes about the sweet relief of fans. We're going to be needing them this summer.
