When you date over 30 you'll quickly realize that most of the people you meet are either emotionally unavailable because they are going through a breakup, or they were always emotionally unavailable and haven't been in a relationship since the age of 16. Furthermore, you're gonna find that the algorithms are designed to make you fail at this already tough game, so even if there are some eligible people you could seek out, they make it nearly impossible for you.

To make matters worse, your parents (or friends) are always on about, 'When will you bring someone for Christmas dinner?', or 'Who will be your plus one to my wedding?'. Being single is constantly thrown in your face, and you wish you could force everyone to use Tinder for at least one week so they'd know what you go through on a daily basis.

This niece fell victim to one of the classic blunders… The most famous is: Never get involved in a land war in Asia. But only slightly less well-known is this: Never wear white to a wedding! (…or go in against a Sicilian when death is on the line.)

It's always surprising to see stories about people wearing white to a wedding; you would think that people would know (and obey) such a universal rule. Your job at a wedding is to blend into the crowd. There's nothing else that you need to do other than eat the food and drink the drinks that the bride and groom have paid for. At no point should you attempt to make yourself the center of attention; the day isn't about you—the one exception here is if you're the best man and giving an embarrassing speech.

Still, people continue to wear white to weddings, flagrantly wearing white and lacy dresses that could easily be mistaken for a wedding dress—or otherwise will keep the bride's dress from standing out in pictures.

This bride chose not to confront the issue on the day, instead ensuring her niece's "wedding" dress didn't stand out in photos by photoshopping her and earning her the rage of her sister-in-law, the niece's mother. She then turned to Reddit's r/AmItheA**hole community to see if she was in the wrong for doing so.

High school can be the best times of your life if you have the right friend group. But as we all know, teenagers can be fickle with their friendships. Sometimes a group of friends who have been close for years can all turn on one member of the group to kick them out, which is quite painful for the person stuck on the outside. 

However, this r/pettyrevenge poster is still stuck in his high school days, even five years later. He's thinking of their high school friend, who ended up having a lot of nasty things to say behind his back. The OP, u/rav_dog, shared the tale of his former best friend Gary turning on him after he left school for a while, then returned to find his friend group rejected him from their hangouts. OP believes that as the group's "ringleader," Gary was instructing the others to avoid him, and as the OP ended up seeing for himself, Gary even lied to avoid seeing him.

Every so often, we come across a satisfying story about a boss getting what he deserved! Sometimes, you have to be willing to walk away in order to truly make your point known. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by an employee who shared that after messing up over a year ago on the job, his boss was still threatening to fire him constantly. 

 

It got so bad that the Redditor went ahead and applied to a much better company. When he got the position, he first felt guilty about leaving during a busy time for the company (thanks for that feeling, capitalism!). However, those feelings went away when his boss decided to threaten him yet again. This was when the Redditor came clean about the new upcoming position and when his boss immediately tried to backpedal. Too late! When someone has done you wrong, the best thing to do is to walk the other way with your head still held high… but it's certainly more satisfying to scorch the earth behind you as you go.

When faced with the bullying behavior of their Karen boss, this IT guy realized he had enough and quit, seeking greener pastures—but, he also decided to (metaphorically) set fire to the building on the way out the door, scheduling a mass company-wide email to be sent from his boss's email address that exposed her secrets. This email was scheduled to go out on Memorial Day, after his last day.

This must be a particularly messy office. The fact that the cleaning lady didn't last more than three months says it all. This is likely a disgusting group of individuals who refuse to clean up after themselves and who make a mess everywhere they go. So you can imagine how people responded when their toxic boss tried to convince his employees to take on their former cleaning lady's duties in the workplace while framing it as an "exciting opportunity."

 

The short answer is they did not respond well to this so-called proposal. As one person in the comments suggested, one has to wonder what they did to this poor woman to make her leave. Furthermore, the offered "bonus" for taking on these extra responsibilities sounded absolutely insulting. Clearly, this is a poorly run office that doesn't even deserve a site manager at this point.

‘My company skimmed by bonus; I stopped generating revenue’: Employee's quiet quitting leads to 80% drop in revenue

Call centers often demand employees hit a certain number of calls per day, even when that isn't the actual goal of the company. In this case, OP was working at a call center for a collection agency, whose main target was to collect debts, generating revenue for the company. OP was doing really well, but sometimes they missed the daily target, and managers would dwell on their call count, instead of taking a look at the numbers OP was generating for the company.

OP found out that the company was grossly skimming his and other employees' bonuses that OP's department's client had been providing them as a reward for successfully collecting on these debts. The under-appreciation OP was receiving from his company in literally every form made him decide that enough was enough… OP began quietly quitting, and soon enough, the company was losing a lot of money as a result.

Management noticed pretty quickly, as OP's revenue dropped by a whopping 80%. But hey, at least he was hitting his daily call targets, right? Management approached OP with quite a few questions, but OP's malicious compliance was well thought out, and management couldn't quite pinpoint what was going on.

On those days, the Worst Boyfriend Ever proceeds to get up leisurely at around 8 or 9 am before taking a long hot shower that uses up all the hot water and forces the other roommates, who actually pay rent, to be late for work. Their subordinates had been taking these longer breaks as a favor to the company in order to cut down on unnecessary overtime. This rule change left the workers with but one option… Charge the time instead, which they were happily obliged to do.

No one knows how to push your buttons better than your own family members. It starts when you're children, but even once you're grown up, the same people who you love more than anything can still get on your last nerve. 

This wedding planner found himself quite frustrated with his sister as she planned her dream wedding. Like lots of creative jobs, his sister seems to be under the impression that his job is easy and inexpensive, when in reality it's just the opposite. This guy helped her choose themes, a venue, and even helped out with organizing some catering for her. She basically just assumed that he was helping for free, as if normal clients wouldn't pay for such a service! In the comments, people shared lots of ways the OP could get back at his sister. Perhaps he'll take their advice and send a nice note or invoice as a reminder of all he did for the big day.

This heartbreaking workplace story was shared on Reddit't r/antiwork subreddit, with the original poster sharing how her former boss had scammed her coworkers into giving him money, which was supposed to be passed on to help her after a tragic personal loss which resulted in out of pocket expenses and also resulted in a loss of income due to extended time off work.

She was unaware of this until she was speaking to a coworker after returning to the office; during the conversation, the coworker asked if the donations had helped. The manager had been going around claiming to be collecting donations to help her with costs, but the money had never made it to her, and the manager left the business a month before she had returned to the office.

After contacting HR and being told there was nothing that could be done, she turned to Reddit's r/antiwork workplace subreddit community to share her story. Readers sympathized with her experience and shared their thoughts and advice in the comments, and our hearts go out to this worker for their horrific experience.

'They had their chance': Post-resignation, boss begs his employee to stay longer to train his replacement, gets denied

Managerial hubris is one of the reasons employees hate their jobs. Not only are we lacking in pay, but we are enslaved to the most incompetent group of overinflated bimbos who could easily be replaced by AI– at least the replacement would have more charisma. But these types of managers will deny your raise and then come begging for your help. Which is it? Do you value my hard work or not? 

In this case, OP had finally had enough of the dance of the salary-increase and the payday waltz, and asked his manager for a well-deserved raise to cover inflation and the rising cost of rent. Unfairly, the manager said a raise wouldn't be possible for another year. So OP did what any desperate person would do and turned in his two week notice after lining up a higher paying job.

The real story begins as OP started to train his replacement. Disaster struck when, only 36 hours before his final day on the job, OP's boss came running to his side with desperation in his eyes and a fearful plea. It's a hallmark of American life that waiters and waitresses work mainly for tips. Over the years, tip prices keep rising higher as minimum wages have stagnated, and that has started frequent debates over tipping culture. 

In a story shared to r/AmItheA**hole, this desperate restaurant owner found a way to put some more cash in his own pocket. He shared the idea in a group meeting, and surprisingly, the OP writes that the other members of the staff seemed to go along with it! The OP didn't care for that, and got angry over the owner's suggestion. The OP was concerned about acting angry, but it seems like they were caught off guard, and reacted naturally as one would to being told their hard-earned tips are going to be taken away.

Well, if this tenant is pursuing a case, he certainly has enough evidence. He received an email sent by a real estate agent that was clearly intended to be written to his landlord. The email was shared and posted to Reddit's r/facepalm subreddit, and let's just say that this guy now has plenty of ammunition to prove that there has been some serious wrongdoing.

 

Firstly, the real estate agent refers to the tenant in the email as "high maintenance" just because he frequently requested for his A/C unit to be fixed because, well, that's supposedly included in the rent. It shouldn't be that much of an ask. A better solution to plotting and scheming would be to, I don't know, fix the A/C unit. What a groundbreaking thought!

Contractors have a certain reputation, and while that might not be fair to all contractors and may have more to do with the complicated challenges of sourcing the correct materials in reasonable timeframes, this stereotype exists for a reason. Everyone has had that experience or knows someone who has had that experience with a contractor who repeatedly fails to meet deadlines, fails to communicate, and sometimes just plain fails to show up when everything is already ready to go. Some contractors will famously go to any length and procure any excuse in order to avoid getting the work done on the day.

This exchange, shared on Reddit's r/quityourbullsh*t subreddit, went viral after screenshots of an exchange between a client and a contractor went viral. The screenshots show the client (the original Reddit poster's coworker) trying to get in touch with their contractor, wondering why nobody had shown up to complete the work on their home. The contractor responded with a wild excuse about how they had not been able to show up because of a dramatic injury… using a viral photo shared on Reddit. A quick reverse image search revealed the deceit, and the coworker fired the contractor.

If you've ever worked in customer service, you know you have dealt with some dicey patrons. He's currently paying $1800 in rent for his current rental, and after the couple discussed him moving in, she agreed but asked that he contribute $700 a month towards her mortgage. He has objected to this, expecting him and his daughter to stay in the house for free, leading to a series of events that saw the original poster returning to share that she had split from her boyfriend.
