We've all been trained by the idea of "missing out" into giving in to each and every impulse; when, retrospectively, if you don't miss the thing you "missed out" on… did you really miss out at all?

Well, when it comes to delaying the payout of $50k in unpaid overtime, there is definitely a gamble involved. Usually, the interest charged on the payment will barely keep up with inflation (if at all); getting the payments back in a lump sum may result in higher taxation by local governments; plus, there's always the risk of the company going under in that time, which means you never see a dime of that money.

Luckily for u/SScheibler their gamble paid off, and they were able to hold their former employer accountable to the tune of $135k.

Initially, the woman paid a significant amount more than the man as she was extremely wealthy, and when they broke up she decided to buy him out. He thought that was fair, as there was no way he was gonna come up with hundreds of thousands of dollars. He originally thought he had 30% equity, but as it turned out, he actually had 33.3%. It doesn't sound like much, but we're talking about thousands of dollars here… thousands that he was entitled to.

The woman refused to acknowledge the extra 3 percent, as money didn't mean much to her; she told him to 'read the contract'. Obviously, she hadn't, otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to devise his plan for malicious compliance so well. As it turned out, he could financially ruin her, in a sense. Or at the very least, her bank account was going to suffer, a lot.

My absolute favorite is the person whose roof hath been arrow'd! What a funny sight to see — a spare arrow sticking out of the top of your house. That person probably had to go up there with a ladder and attempt to take it out. That makes it very worthy of being mildly annoying. 

I'm saddened for the person whose printer decided to waste ink by announcing it was done updating. That's so irritating, and there's no way to get that 10 cents worth of ink back! 

Next up, these Americans travelled to Europe, and reported back the most WTF moments they had while there. 

'I got him fired': Deacon makes groom's wife and sister cry on his wedding day, groom gets him dismissed

This deacon had a reputation for being difficult, but clearly, he messed with the wrong groom this time. After recognizing that the deacon had made both his sister and his new wife cry during the wedding celebration, the Redditor made sure to figure out what went wrong. Apparently, it all had to do with his bride not wearing a veil when walking down the aisle. That's right. The deacon literally attempted to stop the whole wedding from happening over a silly veil (or lack thereof).

 

Thankfully, the groom took a deep breath and waited until after the rest of the ceremony to properly deal with this drama. After the honeymoon, he demanded to speak with the deacon's superiors. It seems like no one was surprised that this event transpired, so clearly the deacon had done this kind of thing before. Well, I guess he won't be pulling this BS anymore…

‘I picked the HOA bylaws apart’ : Resident plants bamboo to overrun Neighbor’s bright LED security light

HOAs waste a lot of energy on ensuring all residents have permits for their plants, rose shrubs are trimmed correctly, and trampolines in backyards are painted in the right color. Some HOAs even enforce an overnight guest fee (put your welcome mats away). They love to interfere when interference is not needed but keep their nosy face knobs away when a resident actually has an issue that is worth looking into.

In this case, a Texas resident who we'll call OP was enjoying suburban life until one of his neighbors set up an LED security light that shone so bright it was comparable to light pollution in the city. At first, he tried a diplomatic approach and went knocking on his neighbor's door to complain (holding $20 in his hands, insisting he came in peace with beer). Initially, his neighbor reacted well and agreed to point the light away from OP's house.

A month went by and alas, nothing had changed, so OP went straight back to his neighbor, this time empty-handed, demanding answers. He was promptly told that minds had been changed and there were absolutely no good neighborly intentions at this point. Okay then, thought OP. Good intentions gone, so be it. OP formulated a plan but first looked up all the HOA bylaws and made sure that the city couldn't come after him with his brilliant idea, which involved a lot of bamboo seeds. For those who don't know, this plant is a total menace, and grows extremely fast, especially in Texas conditions.

This military wife commanded her husband's soldiers to salute her and the stickers on her vehicle, which led to a little tom-foolery from the soldiers who maliciously complied with their orders (as grunts are wont to do.) As commenters have pointed out, what is it with the "Military Wife as an entire personality" stereotype? I suppose it's not an entirely unique phenomenon—people will build a personality around the darnedest things.

I'm not preaching from a pulpit here; I do it too. If you had known me from the ages of 16-21, you would have known me exclusively for the sport that I participated in. Hell, even now, I've just traded it in for a different sport and whatever "flavor of the month" hyper fixation I currently have.

We're all just a bunch of meat bags with electricity running through us, and we tend to get our circuits wired in particular ways. The tribalist part of us wants to identify with and as something to distinguish and differentiate ourselves from billions of other meat bag-batteries out there. Plus, there's a certain comfort to claiming a little slice of society as your "own."

'Lost [my] job, but gained 40k+ followers': DoorDash fires delivery guy for calling out woman using him to scam for free food, angry TikTokers cancel the app

Sometimes people try to get away with everything and anything they can without thinking of the repercussions it might have on someone else. It makes us shake our dam heads so hard. Be a little empathetic, maybe? Did you ever think that maybe the world doesn't revolved around you? It's even more frustrating when these kinds of people repeatedly get away with pulling this kind of BS. It truly brings down humanity ten times. 

Recently, a man working as a delivery guy for DoorDash called out a woman like stated above. He delivered her food and then after he left, he found that she reported the food as never arriving and he got a contract violation. These are taken very seriously and his contract with DoorDash was suspended and he was afraid he would lose his job completely. He knew he delivered that food, he handed it to her directly, so he decided to go back and confront her. She was working at a hospital, after all, so there were tons of camera that could prove he delivered the food. 

So he did just that and recorded the situation to get solid proof of her admitting that she received the food. Immediately she looked guilty. He simply came to her to see if there was an issue, and she immediately got defense. She kept saying she had no idea what he was talking about and that she refuses to help him because she was "innocent" (even though you can clearly see on her face that she was guilty).

Eventually, he just walks off and after the video cuts off, he admits in a later post, that he told her he will come back the following day if the violation isn't removed. Luckily, the next morning he saw that the violation was removed. And as an added bonus, he saw that the video he posted of the situation got millions and millions of views and he had hundreds of thousands of new followers. 

Unfortunately, however, it appears that she then later reported him for creating an "unsafe environment" and DoorDash completely fired him—they did not try to get his side of the story or anything. So, of course, his new and old TikTok followers were furious because they saw the real story in his posts. They keep taking DoorDash in the comment sections, sharing more of their own DoorDash horror stories, and are even calling for a boycott of the food service app.

'We've decided we can't meet your expectations': Unreasonable haggler who demands a $3,000 discount hassles car dealers

"Tom was a royal PITA from the start," lamented a fed-up car dealer, sharing the story of a nightmare customer. 

Car dealers have a reputation for being shady characters who want to sell you the finest car with lots of upgrades you don't need. They can sweet-talk you into buying warranties you don't need or features that will add four more digits onto your new ride. But this person is telling a story from the car dealer's point of view, and their struggles trying to make a deal with a customer who just would not cooperate at any stage of the process. 

The OP, u/ImbambiB****, told their tale to r/pettyrevenge. It seems that "Tom," the customer, was hoping to buy a specific type of vehicle that was very popular at the time. The OP writes that their dealership actually had a great deal going on, and knew the car would go fast. That didn't seem to matter at all to this crabby customer, who insisted on plopping down in the OP's office and refusing to make a deal. At least this dealer got some sweet revenge on the customer! This deli worked wondered, "AITA for speaking up about a bad employer?" and they didn't exactly get the answer they were looking for. U/jackjack_d3mon wrote to the subreddit in order to gain some other opinions on something they'd just done, and pretty quickly regretted. 

As the OP wrote, they had some serious concerns about their workplace, a deli where they work closing shifts. Some of their concerns are that one employee disregards what management says in order to "be a leader." The OP also mentions that there are health and safety concerns that bother them: some employees are slicing meat using the wrong machine, or bringing in food items and beverages that they weren't supposed to.

However, this employee doesn't seem too experienced in the ways of workplace politics. They chose to air all their grievances to every employee at once! In the group chat, they wrote a message and hit send, only to regret it immediately. 

Then, this guy has been plagued by his neighbors and their children, and is completely unsure how to deal with their doorbell-ringing antics.

Dealing with a roommate can sometimes be the most difficult part of navigating college life. On top of that, you're constantly battling internal struggles like taking the right classes for your major, eating enough dinner before hitting the bars, and the tried and true favorite– grappling with the daily pressures of putting a stripper pole in your living room. 

Like all college kids, when you're young and dumb and finally able to make autonomous home decor decisions for yourself, the stripper pole installation is almost always on the top of your list. For some reason, the s3xually charged, rebellious nature of the pole is what draws people in, but it's seldom considered as a flamboyant burden to the rest of the house. One college girl living with her two best friends found out the hard way exactly how inconvenient a vertical pole in your living space really is. 

u/lavenderloverr, a third year in college, had just moved in with her closest friends. They had a house with a living room and were excited to remodel it to their liking. Before having any furniture in place, Lavender asked her roomies if she could install a stripper pole in the middle as a new exercise/hobby piece and they heartily agreed. Like any 20 year old would, they agreed before really understanding the consequences. 

After a short couple of weeks, the girls started wishing they had a real living room with actual furniture– ie: a couch, a TV, and maybe a coffee table– like real adults. Lavender wasn't about to let their initial support of her stripper pole go to waste, so when they asked her to move it to another corner, she refused. When OP stood her ground and threatened the others, her roommates called her bluff and went straight to the landlord, ratting her out for installing a pole in the room and now the girls friendship is on the rocks.

Interviewing for a new job can be tough, especially when the employer has unreasonable expectations about the job they're hiring for. Common examples of this will be wildly unmatched desired levels of experience versus compensation on offer or an advertised position that has just too many duties for one person to reasonably attend to. 

This usually means that the job is a non-starter and not worth pursuing. The employer is constantly going to be disappointed by the tasks that aren't being completed, and you're either going to be overworked or incredibly disappointed with your compensation.

'Also, I quit': Boss pretends they didn't approve worker's leave and demands they come in, worker quits in viral post

The leave approval process exists for one reason and one reason only: To ensure that workers have a proper guarantee and assurance that they will be able to be absent on the submitted dates before spending money and making social commitments. It's a rather simple process, black and white, really; can the employee take leave or not? Yes or no? 

Well, this manager decided to introduce a whopping massive grey area into the middle of "Yes" or "No" by first saying yes, before forgetting they had approved the leave, and then doubling down and demanding the worker show up once they had been adequately proven wrong.

All of this led to the worker quitting on the spot, leaving the manager even more shorthanded than before. The worker then took to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit to share screenshots of the messages exchanged between the worker and their boss. 

The messages went viral on the sub, and the boss's responses earned the ire of the internet.

This manager found their workload increased dramatically when their co-manager was fired for a ridiculous reason. They then had to operate the entire store alone, which was rife with unique issues. The boss continued to be pettier and pettier. When they finally hired a replacement co-manager, they expected the manager to "cut their hours" immediately, which led to the titular confrontation.

This thread was posted to r/MaliciousCompliance by the manager in the story, Redditor u/A-Stackhouse. When they found themselves in this tricky situation, they knew exactly what they had to do… Comply maliciously. 

Nobody likes a boss who justifies their own position by finding needlessly petty things to harass you about. Often they are doing so because they are being harassed by their superior as well, and the only solution they can find is to pass the buck down the line. After all, "it" flows downhill…

Essentially, this couple was saving up money for an upcoming vacation in Florida, and the boyfriend tends to handle all the money because his significant other refuses to discuss it. That's Red Flag #1 right there. When she decided to give $110 to help out a struggling coworker, she was surprised that her boyfriend reacted so aggressively. His reaction was definitely Red Flag #2. In short, this couple seems to be one red flag away from striking out. If they were just able to have an honest conversation with each other about finances to make sure both parties are on the same page, a lot of this could have been avoided.

If you're a parent, then you know how annoying unsolicited parenting advice is. But you also know that it just comes with eh territory. Your mom, your mom's mom, your dad's mom, your partner's mom, your mom friends, your friends' mom, and any parent in-between will have something they want to say. It's super annoying, but you learn to just kind of nod and carry on with your own parenting. C'est la vie. It's like the fly that won't stop buzzing by your year, you swat it away when you can, but sometimes it's just flying around and you just have to keep doing what you are doing. One thing you should not do to rid yourself of an annoying fly is drop an atomic bomb. 

Unfortunately, that is exactly what one mom did on Reddit, and yet she seemed to think she was still in the right. Her and her husband are both medical professionals, and her twin brother and sister-in-law are not. Her brother is currently in medical school and her SIL is a stay-at-home mom. They live on their parents property currently and they have to borrow money here and there. They're not living the rich life like the medical professional parents. 

The rich mom posted to Reddit's subreddit r/AITA telling a story just oozing with entitlement. She was at an important event that her brother and SIL attended. Her own baby would not stop crying because it was teething and the SIL kept suggesting they give him a pacifier. It's recommended babies stop using pacifiers after 12-18 months due to potential dental issues, but this baby was only 10 months, so it probably wouldn't hurt. However, the Reddit poster got so annoyed about the multiple times she suggested it that she blew up at her in a room full of friends and family and completely demolished her. She gave her sh*t for being poor, told her her kid's teeth are disgusting because she had them on pacifiers for too long, and basically just called her out for everything. She dropped an atomic bomb on a fly, as the Reddit commenters describe. 

Luckily, Reddit saw right through her BS and called her out for being an A-hole.

She wrote about the strange behavior her SIL had when visiting restaurants — the SIL would leave her wallet at home on purpose so that the OP would always have to fork over money for their meal. Plenty of people in the comments gave the OP advice, so she made an update!

In the update, the OP wrote about her SIL in more detail. She noted that her brother and the SIL have been going to therapy to "set boundaries," since the brother was also paying for things he shouldn't have. That was when "Amy," the SIL, responded, writing, "Everyone is saying I am a leech."

Insurance companies do everything in their power to convince us to get on board with them, assuring us that they will be there for us, through thick and thin, in sickness and in health, till whatever do us part. When sickness does arrive though, they flee faster than a groom or bride who caught cold feet the night before their wedding. Gone with the wind and the dress, they're suddenly nowhere to be found. In other words, when they had said, 'We will cover the cost', what they really meant was, 'We will not cover the cost'.

In this case, u/jthememeking shared his experience working in an insurance company denying claims when he was just 19 years old, despite having literally zero experience, medical or otherwise. It was a grueling, tiresome, and infuriating job that OP didn't feel comfortable doing, so he didn't last very long at it. Before he quit, he was rebuked for 'slacking off' and told to 'work harder'.

These words gave OP an idea — work harder? You got it. OP began approving any and all claims, doing the literal opposite of what he was supposed to do, costing the insurance company a lot of money in the process. Who said a vigilante has to wear a cape? This guy was probably expecting a chill train voyage. U/Magnus_40 was traveling from Edinburgh to London, and they were ready to enjoy a great view with the window seat they'd booked. Train travel is absolutely one of the best ways to travel. Watching the view from the window makes time fly by. Plus, unlike airplanes, you're able to walk around pretty freely, and on lots of train lines, you can buy coffee or snacks to pass the time. 

Unfortunately for this OP, someone plopped into the seat they booked, and wouldn't move an inch. Talk about petty! At least this dude found a way to enjoy his voyage anyway.

'The war on Toyotathon starts earlier every year': Car salesman and his manager get in a fist fight at the dealership, hilarity ensues in the comment section

Everyone knows that there's a ton of tension on the sales floor of a car dealership. Salesmen lurk like predators near the coffee pot waiting for unsuspecting young couples to show up and show a shred of interest in an overpriced new car that's exactly the same as the model the year prior. But little does that couple know, there's a whole gaggle of over-amped salesmen in the wings, fighting each other off for the chance to upsell another client to buy something they can't afford. 

Sometimes, that competitive nature get's the best of these commission-fueled heavy weights, and salesmen can get into tiffs that turn disastrous. 

A customer in the waiting room recently caught the most TMS-style footage of salesmen floor warfare this weekend. In the video, a car salesman gets in a brawling, multi-man fist fight with his own manager right there in the middle of the Toyota dealership. We get that sometimes you want to punch your boss, but most of us would never be insane enough to actually do it. However, this burly, gold-chained, hairy handed car salesman had reached his limit and the tension was simply too much. 

The comment section of the video is debatably the most hilarious. While it's clear that the fight itself is very entertaining, the commentary really makes the experience worth while. We'd give this comment section a 5/5 on service and ingenuity, making us suddenly really want to get a Corolla.

'She [...] told my mom [...] the milk would taste better anyways': Barista repeatedly gets an order wrong and refuses to use the correct milk

It can be incredibly frustrating when you repeatedly ask someone to do something, only for it to remain still undone or incorrectly finished… (or so my girlfriend tells me, at least.) 

Most of us will also agree that an incorrect or ruined food or drink order can ruin the one thing that was going to be great about your day. Now, most of us will probably be too diffident to do or say anything about our spoiled beverage, instead be resigned to our cup of overheated milk that has just the slightest hint of coffee, sipping it occasionally to reconfirm its unpalatability before it placing it to spend the rest of the day forgotten on the corner of our desk. 

While I commiserate with this customer's experience, it also sounds like maybe this barista is overworked at an understaffed cafe and is just quickly losing grasp of her final shreds of sanity. A little understanding for workers in these situations can go a long way.

'I hope this addresses your concern': Employee asks HR why new employees are getting paid more, gets ridiculous response

It's as if HR has become a parody of itself! This thread was posted to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit by u/GeorgeClooneysMom (what a username, she's definitely not his actual mom though we can certainly dream, can't we?). The employee in question recognized that new hires were getting paid significantly more.

 

When they brought it up to HR, it became clear that this is not the first time they have received these types of questions. In fact, their e-mail response was so carefully crafted that it is quite obvious this employee is not alone with regard to their concerns. Best solution? That would be to up and leave. As many people in the comments suggest, the best way to get a proper raise in this climate is to switch jobs. I wish that weren't the case, but that's just the current state of things.

'A very seriously unwarranted allegation': Card shop owner responds after absolute Karen leaves 1-star review accusing them of stealing the best cards

People will make up anything and jump over any number of mental hurdles to displace their own unhappiness onto someone else. 

This thread was shared to Reddit's aptly named r/F**kYouKaren subreddit and featured screen grabs of a Google review that had been posted on a local game shop's page. In the review, the reviewer accuses the shop owner of weighing packs in order to determine which ones contain rarer cards to keep for themselves, putting out the lighter packs to sell to customers.

As commenters have mentioned, there is some logic behind these accusations; rare trading cards often feature additions like holographic foil that adds to their weight—so a pack that contained one of these desirable cards may be heavier. While this may be possible with some unopened classic packs, nowadays, most trading card publishers will include code cards and other heavy additions to foil the plans of any would-be card sharks.

The owner wasn't going to take this accusation lying down and responded with a brilliant message back to the reviewer, refuting their claims.

'I will never give notice again': Company revokes all worker's earned PTO after they give notice

The relationship between an organization and its workers is built upon trust. Once that trust is betrayed by a worker/workers, it's completely fair that the organization loses faith in those individuals. However, when the organization betrays the trust of one of its workers, it's only going to be natural for them to lose confidence in the organization. That's an important thing for employers to realize; if you do things like not honor accrued leave for an employee, other employees are going to find out. This is going to completely destroy the morale of your remaining team members and ensure that they don't give you any notice when they decide to leave as well. So, in this roundabout way, it's actually a good business decision to front the cost of something such as paying out leave. It's a cost of doing business, and maintaining trust, even with your departing employees, will only serve to help you in the long run.

A disgruntled worker shared this experience to Reddit's r/antiwork subreddit, claiming that their employer had refused to honor their accrued PTO once they handed in their notice. They had thought that they were doing the correct and honorable thing by giving their notice to their employer but felt that this had just come back to bite them.
