Scumbag Family Members Steal Woman's Savings, Deny It, Beaten By Evidence

It's really hard for me to imagine living in this scenario. I was fortunate, privileged, enough to grow up in a safe and secure environment. My heart goes out to everyone who has to endure this sort of uncertainty and strife within their own homes.

Unfortunately for this user, who has now deleted their profile, that is not the case for them.

They live with their mother and older sister. The poster works as a house cleaner on their days off and keeps all of that money in a safe disguised as a book on their shelf.

They resorted to using this safe because they have already had two incidents involving theft with their mother and sister. She says that she has forgiven them as much as she can but no longer trusts them.

It really is such hard luck to have people like this in your life. I only wish that someone had told her to get a bank account after those first two instances. There was no way that her family was going to be stopped by a small safe.

The poster then explains how she garnered enough evidence to confront her family in front of the rest of the family at an event. It sounds like she needs to get the police involved at the very least.

Creepy Neighbor Peers Through Woman's Windows, Says She Can't Walk Around Her House Topless

When u/nobrasonmain adjusted her morning routine to include straying into her kitchen after her workout... She can't have anticipated that it would lead to issues with her neighbors.

See u/nobrasonmain loves to crank out a morning workout in the little home gym setup that she has in her garage. Once she's done with that she chucks her sweaty shirt off and into the laundry hamper while she makes her way to the shower.

This week she had added an additional detour to that route. Stopping by the kitchen on the way to her shower to grab a bite to eat and refuel before continuing on to the sweet relief that running water provides after a workout.

Unbeknownst to her, her neighbor had been watching her during the first few days that she was doing this. He confronted her about it, telling her that she needs to behave appropriately towards him and his family.

Honestly, this guy really needs to not put his drama onto someone else. If the fact that you are able to stare into someone else's windows bothers you that much it's time to put in a tree or a hedge as a bit of a buffer. That or just pull the curtains closed.

Just because you can't control yourself, or because your wife is mad that you can't control yourself, doesn't mean that you can tell your neighbors what they can or can't do in their own home.

Keep in mind too; She still has a sports bra on...

Senior Designer Uses Gendered Slur on Junior Designer, Calls Her Lazy, Surprised When HR Gets Involved

Maybe we should feel bad for u/aitabadworker. He sounds like he is pretty stressed out. But, it's the way that he is taking his stress out on other people that is the problem here.

u/aitabadworker posted to AITA this week asking for advice regarding his coworker, who he also refers to as his subordinate. Really, she seems to just be his coworker though.

He does seem to be a little confused on the matter. Stating both that "I'm not technically her "boss," and that "I've tried to look out for her best interests and be a friendly boss".

So, that's the first red flag here. A guy that is not technically someone's boss thinks that he also is their boss. Oh, and he wants to tell her what she can and can't do after work hours.

Meanwhile, he's holding a grudge against her for not asking for work that she doesn't know about because he hasn't told her about it.

It sounds like he is unraveling at both ends a little bit and if he doesn't want to get fired before the baby comes he needs to take a time out and sort whatever it is that is causing this in his mind.

Go see a therapist or take up meditation and stop taking it out on the people you work with!

The first part of this post is the original thread along with a selection of comments from that post.

Item #19 begins a second post that was made about the original topic in the r/antiwork subreddit where commenters were even less sympathetic.

Freaky Double Take Moments That Made Our Eyes Figuratively Bleed

If eyes are so good at seeing things, why are eyes also so bad at seeing things? Every single one of us has been in a situation where we think we're looking at a face in the trees or a dark specter in a dumpster and every single time it's just a sign or a rock or something. We're glad every time that we're not looking at a mysterious demon looking back at us, but maybe it would be nice if one time it was legit just so we don't feel stupid.

The smallest amount of reflection, shadow or skewed perspective will have our eyes pushing us into believing one thing is a different thing. Just once we'd like to see a traffic cone actually be a lost wizard's hat. Is that too much to ask for? A safety wizard that directs traffic? In case you want to confuse your eyes some more, here are some more freaky double take moments that had our eyes thoroughly tricked.

Daughter Breaks Leg, Psycho Karen Shuts Off Phone For Vacation, Doesn't Get Why Everyone Is Mad

There's a certain parental instinct you'd think everyone would have when they learn that their kid has been in a life-threatening accident. Maybe you'd think to call your own daughter and like, see how she's doing? Maybe you'd consider rescheduling your trip by a few days? Maybe you'd at least send a text?

It's really difficult to understand the thought process of someone who makes choices like this. "Why are all these people texting me about some kind of emergency? Don't they know I'm on vacation?" One thing we'd really like to know is how this person managed to even have a decent vacation when they knew full well they had real responsibilities to attend to. How do you get to the point when your kid's broken leg is considered an inconvenience so mild that your end can be "solved" by just ignoring it? We'd love to be able to compartmentalize things this well. What a skill.

Probably the most amazing part here is that this lady appears to be baffled as to why her family is upset with her. Imagine having such high self esteem that you couldn't be bothered to self reflect on your own active role in your own kid's pain and suffering. There are sea turtles with a stronger maternal instinct.

Fore some more real excellence, here's the lady who couldn't understand why it was rude to accept a drink from a stranger while actively on a date.

Elder Scrolls Memes That Are As Inevitable As Cliff Racers

The Elder Scrolls games have served us for decades as the premier place to steal from shopkeepers, get addicted to skooma, be intolerant of cat people, and increase our agility by jumping. Every few years (okay, more than a few) we get a new installment of the game, and then within a few years after that we get the non-glitchy version with definitely at least half as many chairs clipping through walls.

But for all of its flaws, popping in Morrowind and taking a silt strider to Balmora and looking at Caius Cosades rippling abs or booting up Skyrim just to shout a few draugrs back into the grave never really gets as old as it definitely should by now. And with that time, boy have we gotten a whole lot of Elder Scrolls memes out of it all.

At the end of the day, it's not about graphics or horse armor. It's about what makes role playing games truly great. And that's naming yourself Barf Fart, setting your eyes way too wide in character creation, giving yourself a big purple afro and murder-hoboing your way through a swamp until you've killed and stolen just enough gold to buy a big hammer and fictional drugs. Absolutely terrific.

The Wildest Junk Parents Confiscated From Their Kids

We all remember a time as kids when we were able to get our hands on something we shouldn't have. Anything hot, sharp or filthy felt like a magnet to our underdeveloped brains. Finding a knife or dirty diaper on the playground only meant one thing: today is going to be a much more interesting day than usual. Remember when the woods used to just have smut in it sometimes? Man, the pre-internet days were weird.

It's every parent's responsibility to at least keep the more dangerous stuff out of their kid's hands, but they're impossible to watch 24 hours a day. And for some reason, things like your elderly neighbor's boudoir polaroids and syringes full of dog pee just happen to find themselves in kids lives. We don't know how they got there. The world is just a big place. Honestly it's good that children spend so much time exploring and trying to make sense of the world they live in, but of course it's not an enviable position to be a parent trying to snatch a jar of teeth out of your 7 year old's hands as they scream "teeth man teeth man I am the teeth man."

Everyone knows that kids are strange creatures. Can we blame them for trying to make weapons out of old pieces or rebar and smashing old DVDs with them? Sometimes, but not a whole lot. They're right, that's a fun thing to do.

Pizza Place Advertises Wrong Number, Refuses to Fix, Family Takes Fake Orders

u/MundaneSeesaw's family found themselves receiving an increasing number of phone calls from the local pizza chain. See, the thing was, their home phone number was excruciatingly close to the pizza place. They would consistently get calls from people late at night who would use foul and threatening language when confronted with the fact that they had called the wrong place.

Things escalated when the pizza place released a massive ad with the wrong number on it. The phone began ringing off the hook. u/MundaneSeesaw's father called the pizza place and asked them to pay to change the family's phone number so that they could stop getting harassed.

When the manager responded rudely to the request all bets were off. u/MundaneSeesaw and his sister, under instructions from their father, began trolling callers. They pretended to be the pizza place and would take fake orders. This would eventually culminate in the restaurant's demise.

Immature Roommate Refuses to Buy Toilet Paper, Woman Hides Hers in Her Room

Living with other people will never cease to amaze you. We're all a little bit different after all. Each of us is crazy in our own way.

But, it is truly astounding what incredibly basic survival skills and instincts some people are missing. I'm talking about the ability to cook for yourself. To clean. Heck, even the ability to purchase household essentials is beyond some people.

This is how it was for u/pettytoiletpaper who found themselves living with a roommate who was absolutely unable to procure toilet paper for herself. It's uncertain where she thought that toilet paper came from but for the evidence, she probably thinks that it is delivered via stork or something.

Now, when u/pettytoiletpaper and their roommate moved in together they agreed that they would take turns purchasing consumable goods. But soon u/pettytoiletpaper found herself buying them on every single occasion. Her roommate constantly had some excuse or another about why they were unable to purchase the paper supplies.

u/pettytoiletpaper began to run out of options which led us to this complete breakdown of communication and basic principles that we see here.

Woman "Ruins" Brother's Engagement By Telling Fiancé About His Four Secret Children

The brother has the audacity to get mad about the "private" details of his four existing kids being told to his future wife. It's pretty safe to say this guy had no intention of telling his own fiancé about his complicated family tree, so good on OP for letting it slip. The hell does this guy think he is, just Mr. Magooing his way into making all these people. It's not like you can just slip on a freshly waxed floor and accidentally get more than one woman pregnant. This guy needs locking underwear.

As sad as it is for the fiance to have been completely in the dark about it, she has probably just last-second dodged a train-sized bullet. Imagine wanting to start a family with someone and discovering years later that they already tried and failed at it more than a few times in the most spectacular way possible.

It's always a weird reminder that Jerry Springer energy is alive and well in real life. Poor kids. Maybe it's a good thing they don't have to live with this guy.

Gaming Memes To Grind Through On Hard

In only a few decades, video games went from being a weird sideshow of bleeps and bloops to a billion dollar industry and pastime for millions, complete with its own competitive leagues. Anyone who grew up through this time has witnessed the growth of beautiful artform only to have its wings clipped by constant microtransactions and identical sequels.

Those 12-year-olds who were beating us at Halo and describing exactly what they did to our moms last night are now 26 year olds, still beating us at Halo and still describing what they're doing to our moms. Joke's on them though, cause unlike those guys, at least we don't live with ours anymore.

Seeing graphics go from angular smudges to "so hot it's become a problem for some of you people" has been a wild ride, and there's no guessing where the industry will go. Our money is on a big Pong Resurgence. That or VR games where we finally get to own a house. But why even bother with that when the Sims has existed for decades. If it ain't broke don't fix it. Just make an HD remake and resell it back to the people who are still playing the original.

Here are some more video game memes.

Stuff People Will Definitely Never Do Again

People always talk about how important it is to live life to the fullest and do as many things as possible. The inevitable outcome is that about half of those things aren't exactly gonna be worth it. Sure, things not working out sometimes is the price of admission for doing anything at all, but it sure sucks to learn that you don't like bungie jumping while actively bungie jumping.

And then there are the "activities" that are more like situations that last more than a few years. Sometimes those ones are hard to figure out only until you're on the other side. And then you have the clarity to say, "man, if I know one thing for sure, it's that I'm never gonna spend 5 years married to paint-huffing birthday clown ever again." Sure that's just a guess, but we're pretty confident about it.

Some of these may seem like common sense, others may feel like anti-adventurism. Everyone's different, so hey man go ahead and go to the bathroom after slicing a bunch of peppers, but be warned that your results may vary. Here are some things people did once and never again.

Husband Lies About Dark Origins Of Jack Frost, Wife Repeats Lie For 15 Years

It's not totally out of the realm of possibility. Santa Clause himself is known to have been the star of some freaky German fairy tails featuring pickled children and sacks of heads. So to think that the character "Jack Frost" is actually a nose-eating serial killer is sort of in line with the origins of the holiday season anyway. Throw in the fact that there are at least two Jack Frost themed horror movies starring a killer snow man, and you've got a recipe for a dark tale of almost reasonable proportions.

But the fact remains, this guy lied to his wife about Jack Frost and she believed it hook, line and sinker. Then she went on to tell other people that lie for years and years, becoming "the weird lady who is wrong about Jack Frost." And he never corrected her.

Sure, this could be seen as a betrayal of someone's trust, but everyone knows that if you've successfully convinced someone of a totally inconsequential falsehood for longer than a month, you keep that baby rolling for as long as possible.

And yes, it doesn't feel good to be bamboozled, but that's nothing compared to the joy felt by the bamboozler. For a similar one, here's the husband who lied to his wife about gummy flavors for 13 years.

Guy Sets His Dogs Loose on Criminal Neighbor Kids After They Break Into His House

Man, what do you do in a situation like this? Harassed constantly by criminal underaged children who won't leave you and your pets alone on your own property. We've seen some really terrible neighbors in stories like this and people have had worse ways of dealing with them.

CPS should definitely be getting involved because it sounds like their mother is raising some feral animals.

What would you do in this situation? I would be concerned that using my dogs to "scare" the kids might end up with one of the kids getting bitten or attacking my dogs which would inevitably end in forced euthanization. That or my crazy neighbors would take out some kind of revenge on my animals.

I'm not sure what other options this guy has other than getting the kids removed from their home. Which is probably best-case-scenario.

Ominous Signs That Mean Business

The world is big, and with it come a lot of threats. There's quickly rising water, bees, brain-eating amoebas, big holes and errant explosions to name a few. To name a few more, there are cliffs, electricity, angry biting monkeys, slippery cliffs, dangerous machinery and fires. So it makes sense we'd need a lot of spooky signs that say a lot with their creepiness.

And even though the signs are spooky, it's better than the alternative, which is just a pile of corpses. So maybe we can all thank the signs for their continued service, as well as the people who were smart enough to put them there. The modern world may have its figurative pitfalls like taxes and going to work, but at least we're all mostly literate at this point and able to communicate warnings of literal pitfalls to each other.

Oh yeah, also goats covered in poison ivy oil. There's another hazard. Didn't know stinging goats were a thing, but once again, happy to be aware of it now.

Husband Demands Fifty Percent of His Wife's Business After Not Supporting Her Idea

I'm firmly convinced that this guy is off his rocker but it sounds like this relationship might have some more deep seated issues that are only coming to light because of the situation. I can't imagine not supporting my partner in their endeavours or ideas. We're supposed to be there to strengthen each other and encourage each other to be their best selves.

Imagine this, your wife has an idea for a startup business to earn some extra income. You poo-poo the idea and talk it down, maybe say some things stronger than that. Lo and behold, despite your negativity she is successful. What do you do now? Maybe an apology and congratulations are in order, for a start.

Nah, stuff that. Let's just demand half of the profits and threaten divorce because I'm an entitled piece of sludge.

Any differing opinions out there? Pretty sure this is going to be a quick verdict.

Targeted Teacher Gets Manipulative Principal Fired From Her Position

Just out of school and starting her teaching career. A teacher found herself in a new school. She notes, retrospectively, that she completely missed some obvious red flags and warning signs regarding what was to come.

These warning signs included a lack of responses to her emails early on, requesting what she needed to start at her job. She then arrived at her classroom to find it being used as a storage closet.

When classes actually started she didn't even know what the class schedule was. She didn't know when she would be seeing any of the classes she was teaching.

She then ended up with two classes at the same time!

She would soon find herself faced with an adversary in a more powerful position and would use all the resources she had at hand to gain the upper hand. It seems pretty clear that the Principal was targeting this new teacher and was just overall a manipulative bully.

Some parts of this story are incredible, maybe even a little incredulous, but it is an entertaining story that is well worth the read.

Karen Says She Knows CEO, Tech Support Calls Her Bluff

There are a few ways to get what you want in a customer interaction. One of those ways is to follow proper procedure, listen to what the person on the other end has to say, and adjust your expectations accordingly. But this is not the Karen way. The way of the Karen would have you believe that patiently waiting for help is an assault on one's character. The Karen way would have you think that if you don't raise your voice and insult people, that you will never be satisfied. The Karen way contends, preaches, and evangelizes the virtues of screaming, threatening, and lying your way to the bottom. The way of the Karen, as many of us know, is the way of ruin.

Karen thought she could get through on a lie, but had another thing coming when tech support got wise to her BS. For a more direct approach, here's a boss who used an eye gag to remove some problem customers. And sometimes, fellow customers join in, like this customer who weaponized the tip jar to defeat a Karen.

Writer Roasts Michelin Star Restaurant On Twitter, Delusional Chef Responds With Ridiculous Argument About Horses

This writer and blogger took to Twitter to tell the tragic tale of the "Most singularly awful meal of (her) life." She doesn't pull any punches and absolutely roasts the restaurant and the chef himself. First, retweeting images of his tattoos and then posting the absurd response that he sent to her.

The entire evening appears to be utter shambles as the dining guests struggle their way through minuscule portions and rancid food from one of the "best" restaurants in the world.

Looks to me like fine dining has been sucked way too far up its own you-know-what.

The entire thing is capped off when the Chef of the restaurant responds with a transparent argument about "what is art" that was probably ripped out of a High School textbook.

Flick through the tweets here and check out her blog post about the fiasco.

Cats Who Were Caught In the Act

On general principle, cats have no respect for you or your things and they'll knock your full mug of coffee off the counter just to see what will happen. They'll sit on your laptop because it's warm and they'll throw up in your shoes because it's convenient. That doesn't mean they're inherently awful creatures. It's just part of owning one. Most cat owners are pretty certain that cats can feel genuine affection, while dog lovers typically argue that they're devoid of any conscience or feeling, just a bunch of furry little Patrick Batemans scurrying around your house, looking for the next thing to ruin.

The reality is probably something closer to "cats do have a sense of right and wrong, but at the same time they still don't really care." That doesn't make any of your houseplants or favorite mugs safer from being tipped onto the floor and utterly destroyed, but it's at least an explanation. It makes sense that there'd be a lot of evidence of cats and their crimes. Hey, they want food even when they have it. This point is driven home by the fact that cats probably talk like disparaged Victorian children.

35 Horrendous Stories About the Worst Things People Ever Witnessed at Weddings

When Bo_shuda's cousin got smashed at their uncle's wedding no one could find him anywhere. They thought something tragic might have happened to him. Thankfully it was just a classic button malfunction.

Meanwhile, an event manager witnessed a wedding party that started drinking at noon. By the time the ceremony was due to start the groom was so drunk that he couldn't stand. That wedding sounds like it must have been the most glorious shoddy show of all time.

Wait, over here. There are terrible and downright cruel speeches being aimed at the happy couple.

Over here again, we have a best man proposing to the maid of honor during his speech. Completely stealing the thunder from the bride and groom.

There is absolutely SO much going on in these stories it's hard to know where to start. From drunken best men to cheating groomsmen and all the way back again to thunder-stealing pregnant relatives. You're going to enjoy reading every one of these just as much as I did when I was putting this together.

Grab a cup of hot coffee and settle in. You're going to be reading for a while.

If you enjoy this kind of thing be sure to check out this Twitter thread about the craziest wedding fails.

25 Dad Jokes That Are Dangerously Dadly

We can't all be dads. There just aren't enough lawn mowers, polo shirts, terribly cut jeans and Bass Pro Shop hats in the world to go around. But we can all inhabit the spirit of dadlihood by engaging in absolutely awful puns during every awkward silence, car ride and funeral that we find ourselves present at. Dadness isn't necessarily a set of qualities, it's a state of mind. Sort of like attaining the state of Nirvana. The state of Nirvana being, of course, Washington state, where the band formed.

Of all the things dads contribute, some of the most memorable are slews of horribly wonderful puns in the form of devastating dad jokes. Yeah, they're kind of horrible but what sackful of puns isn't. It's best to take the decent ones with the godawful and just tip your hat to the great spirit of dads. "Our father," if you will.

Man we're good. Still got it.

Tumblr Thread: A Rundown On A Rad Rock Collection

Anyone nerding out over something like rocks gets a win in our book. Fair to say that this rocks.

It's a shame that rocks are associated with dullness or stupidity. The phrase "dumb as a rock" is likely never going away. And honestly, comparing our stupidest people to rocks isn't fair to rocks. Some rocks are absolutely brilliant. There are shiny rocks, rocks of all colors and properties. Even the way that certain rocks form is interesting! The world of rocks, or minerals if you're Hank from Breaking Bad, is massively nuanced and indulged in by an absolute boatload of people.

So here we have but an interested Tumblr user, gushing over their impeccable rock collection, with the added bonus of fun rock facts. Hey man, rocks are interesting and they deserve our attention. They're all around us, they're in our buildings, roads and phones. And they'll be here long after we're gone. And then we'll become rocks. So for those about to rock, we salute you.

Nervous Climber Accidentally Gives Cute Girl the Wrong Number After They Hit-It-Off at the Gym

The hero of our story, u/RollzRoiz, might have just found love at his climbing gym. When he hit it off with this climbing cutie he knew there was a chance that this might be the real deal. She asked him how the two of them were going to stay in touch and so, with nervous fingers, he entered his digits into her mobile device and calls himself so that he has her number too.

To his horror. When he arrived home to check his phone, he realized that he had no missed calls. He had given her the wrong number. u/RollzRoiz is beyond rage, pain, and sanity. Wondering when and if he is ever going to see his true love again.

But, just imagine what she's probably thinking right now. Our OP, u/RollzRoiz, is sweating bullets over here because he has seriously F'ed up and given her the wrong number. But, from her perspective, she has just been brutally "stood up" and been given a blatantly wrong number.

I think commenters are right and this guy should just find every excuse to live at the climbing gym until he runs into her again so that he can explain himself.

He's still better off than this guy who accidentally submitted a guide to modding adult content into Skyrim instead of his college essay.

Insane-Entitled Boss Asks Employee to Come Into Work During Vacation Because They Are "Short-Staffed"

"But we're SO short-staffed!"

Nothing like getting that dreaded phone call on your day off asking if you can come in to help out due to your employer's lack of proper planning and permanent refusal to roster enough people to cover. Those are the major aspects of retail and hospitality that you're glad to get away from.

Getting that text/phone call during your vacation is a whole new level of which I have never heard. Pretty bold move by this manager, especially given her response when she was contacted on her vacation.

Nonetheless, that's exactly what happened to u/Impossible-Head2121 at their job. This entitled boss expected them to show up regardless of the fact that they were on vacation. Who would have thought that this could ever be behavior that an employer would even consider?

Of course, the comments are quick to take u/Impossible-Head2121's side and offer them their support.

For more horrible bosses check out this guy who quit on the spot when he was asked "do you know my name" by the owner's son.

Red Flags To Look Out For In People

Everyone can live their own truth or whatever, but spend enough time alive and you start to notice personality traits that people can't stand. We could all gain something from spending our time around less manipulative or abusive people. See, the problem with people who lie a lot is that you can't really ever confirm or get them to admit that they're being manipulative. It's one of the things that keeps them from being found out. Ask a liar if they lie and they'll just lie some more. That's why it's important to simply know the signs so that you can come to that conclusion without going through the arduous process of making them admit something negative about themselves. Because remember, they won't. The only way to win is to not play the game.

At the same time, if we see ourselves doing these things it's a good chance to know if we're alienating our friends and coworkers. It's important to acknowledge yourself slipping into this kind of behavior, because people will actually tolerate it. That is, until they wise up and stop talking to you. We can dodge a lot of bullets by knowing what signs to look for in red flags for roommates or red flags at job interviews.

Shipping Company Denies Responsibility After Smashing Dying Mother's MacBook, Son-In-Law Takes Them to Court

Shipping companies and couriers…. One thing is for certain. No matter where you are in the world you have probably had an issue with one at some point and chances are they were absolutely useless at resolving the issue that THEY caused with your item.

Recently, I've had two such personal examples pop up. I ordered something online to be sent with a national shipping company via two-day delivery from the next city over. After two weeks the product still hadn't shown up. After three weeks the product still was marked as being "at the depot".

After the two-week mark, I was messaging the shipping company trying to figure out where my package was. They told me there were delays but it was clear it had been lost or ended up under someone's Christmas tree.

Three weeks pass. Then four. They still don't know where it is and won't admit to it.

After two and a half months they finally admitted that they had lost the package. Oh, and now I'd have to file for reimbursement.

Three weeks later and that process is still ongoing. Now stretching out to two and a half months from what was meant to be a two-day delivery.

____

Unfortunately, the national postal service isn't much better. Another package I had ordered on overnight delivery took over two weeks to arrive. They refused to respond to any inquiry before that point.

When I finally managed to get a hold of someone the customer service rep told me that my package had been marked as "undeliverable" despite no delivery ever being attempted. Someone just had too much to do and had stuck it in that pile where it had been sitting for two weeks.

____

But I digress. Shipping companies and couriers are absolutely useless. Depending on where you live it's possible your national postal service is too.

Scummy Scammer Neighbor Has Kids Shovel Woman's Driveway Without Asking, Demands Payment

A group of kids shows up on your front steps demanding an extorted contribution under coercion. What is this? The local mafia or something?

When u/beaversm26 heard a knock on her door while she was working from home she opened it to find a group of expectant neighborhood kids. They told her, to her surprise, that they had just shoveled her driveway. Promptly asking her for payment to the tune of $15 each for the 4 of them.

u/beaversm26 was stunned. She hadn't requested or approved the shoveling and felt that the cost was rather high. Plus, she and her husband had just shoveled the drive last night. So the only thing they could have shoveled was whatever had fallen overnight.

She declined payment, which summoned the second stage of the boss fight in the form of the children's mother descending in her insolent fury.

Imagine doing a job without being asked and then demanding payment for it. Maybe just ask first? Typically when a cute group of kids offers to do something for you like shovel snow or mow your lawn you're more than happy to let them do it for whatever fee they're charging.

When asking is such a reasonable thing to expect and so easy to do it's hard to see this scenario as anything other than scammer behavior and this mother is clearly teaching the kids a masterclass in it.

Blessed Images To Serve As A Reminder That Some Things Are Nice

While you were out being a misanthrope, other people were busy actually enjoying their lives. At least that's what we've heard they do when we're not around. Being cheerful isn't exactly an innate skill had by all, so man, sometimes you gotta outsource that crap. There's a time and a place for being miserable.

What we're trying to get at here is that it's important to be receptive to the finer points in life, many of them being blessed images to brighten up that big ol' day. Sure, we could also practice mindfulness or some garbage like that, but we're busy people dammit, and we want the happiness zapped directly into our skulls at quite literally light speed. Does that count as commodifying emotion? Probably, if you want to be a wet blanket about it.

All we know is that when we see a dog wearing a hat, it makes us feel nice for a second. So try competing with that.

Tumblr Gems To Chortle At With Merriment
