Twitter Thread: Lies People Tell To Bail Out Of Awkward Work Situations

So many of us are prone towards telling silly little white lies. It could be the result of just trying to keep things simple by not being completely, brutally honest. Or maybe you find yourself in a customer service gig where you're regularly putting up with all kinds of crazily entitled customers, and the lies are the only thing that keep the job vaguely manageable.

Rude Customer Has Fraudulent Reservations For Fake Floor, Gets Taken To Roof

It wasn't this customer's fault for getting duped into being sold a nonexistent hotel room. They didn't have much control over that. That said, she could have gotten less combative with the only person trying to help her. In the end, she had to accept the reality of her situation. For some more drama from the world of hotel management, here's a hotel guest who refused to be reasonable and got kicked out.

Misguided Safety Failures That OSHA Would Disapprove Of

Things need to get done, but sometimes we take shortcuts that result in safety failures of OSHA-defying boldness. Walk around any job site for any length of time and there's bound to be cartoonish moments of dudes climbing into running woodchippers, hanging off dangerous ledges with no safety gear, and strapping together ladders into a horrible yet effective "superladder." Sadly, time is money, and that time gets turned into unsafe maneuvers that would make OSHA cringe. It just sucks to have to be the schlub risking their knees, back and fingers for 12 dollars an hour.

Entitled Mom Wants Cheap Rate For 4 Kids, Tries To Swindle Babysitter

It's probably pretty hard to find a babysitter for four kids under the age of 5, but also, no one told them to have a mountain of kids. There's a surprising amount of babysitter drama, like this entitled mom who lashed out after her babysitter found a better job or this entitled mom who harassed her neighbor about free babysitting. The moment that takes the cake here is when they try to offer what seems like a better rate, but then underestimate that their baby sitter would know basic math.

The Weirdest Facts People Know

What does it take to feel less dumb? It's something we all struggle with a lot. The short answer is "knowing things." But what things should we know? Upsetting facts that won't help anyone's mood? Maybe some totally useless facts? Maybe it's better to focus on the bright side and know some wholesome facts that are nice for a change. Whatever path we choose, there's always something interesting to know.

Twitter Thread: The Wild Sequel To "One Hundred And One Dalmatians"

So, apparently the world's missing out on the actual treasure that could be the "One Hundred And One Dalmatians" sequel movie. I'm just getting a kick out of imagining what the creative process was when it came to crafting this story.

People's Weirdest Experiences On Public Transit

Unfortunately, there's no getting around the fact that public transportation invites all kinds of chaotic behavior from humans. It's as if some people seemingly leave their moral compasses at home, and succumb to not acting like decent individuals right upon entering a bus or even worse, the subway. Oh boy, the subway. Talk about a petri dish of vile and generally unacceptable behavior.

Tumblr Thread: Addams Family Renting Out Rooms To College Students

We can always count on the wonderful and wandering minds of the Tumblr world to take us down rabbit holes that we'd otherwise never have navigated in the first place. In this case, we have a wildly entertaining Tumblr thread that imagines exactly what it'd look like if the Addams Family were to rent out rooms to college students. Basically, it'd be a whole kind of mess. Check out some more Tumblr gems to sift through like an old-timey prospector over here.

Design Fails That Put Things In Perspective

Human beings are problem solvers. But sometimes when we're designing a solution for one thing, our design failure results in a brand new problem. With something as simple as word placement or overzealous design, a sign for a window company can turn into a 40 foot long wiener. Anyway, some design fails deserve some blame.

Drone Crashes Into Iceland's Spewing Volcano, Final Moments Captured On Video

Those poor drones, man. They've got to regularly navigate profoundly treacherous situations. In this case, we get to witness a drone's final, absolutely glorious moments before it reaches its ultimate demise as it sinks into the fiery mouth of an unforgiving volcano.

Things That Are Way More Dangerous Than People Realize

Life is full of hazards and not every single one has a creepy warning sign to go with it. Even something as simple as a slug or a toothache is enough to put a person in the ground, and while it's unlikely to happen, it's important to know what we're all getting into on a daily basis. Stuff is just surprisingly dangerous, man.

New Employee Uses Apple Computer As Door Jam, Computer Turns Into Applesauce

Starting up with a new job is a disorienting experience. It's a humbling time that's dominated by the overriding reality of regularly recognizing that you don't just yet know what you're doing. Some people are better at navigating that time of transition than others. One thing that can certainly make the whole process of starting up with a new job that much harder is if you find yourself having to deal with an Apple computer that's been given to you by your employer, but said Apple computer was converted into applesauce. For another glorious TIFU tale check out this story about a woman who nearly pepper sprayed a man over a twin misunderstanding.

Terrifying Signs That Had Good Reasons To Be Scary

They say what you don't know can't hurt you, but that line of logic doesn't work when it comes to exposed wires, sinkholes, hidden explosive ordinance, and bears. Also poison ivy, quicksand, riptides, monkeys and poison gas. Oh yeah, plus geese, shooting ranges and nuclear runoff. But that's close to all of it. Maybe. Either way these creepy signs made their message clear.

Surprising Reveals From 5-Star Hotel Workers

It's an AskReddit thread like the one that we have here that might push you into a headspace where you find yourself committed to avoiding hotels at all costs. Yes, there's a whole lot more dirty, straight up nasty stuff occurring underneath the surface of those polished, carefully presented environments. You've really got to feel for anyone that's working in a hotel. They're putting up with enough nonsense and belligerence to drive someone insane.

Friendly Cat Brings Neighbors Together

Cats are wonderful creatures. More often than not they're busy trying to push things off the face of the earth. But other times, well, cats and their innately curious nature can end up bringing perfect strangers together. Walter just wants everyone to be friends. We appreciate that Walter.

Retired Dad Walks Dogs At Local Shelter, Makes Bios For Them

This dad has clearly tapped into a worthwhile and rewarding way to spend some of his retirement. Apparently he likes to walk some dogs from the local shelter, and also enjoys making up little bios for them. We need more of these!

Space Shuttle Launch As Seen From A Plane

Usually when you're on a flight you're busy preoccupying yourself with whatever took your interest in the land of Netflix, or catching up on rest. Maybe, just maybe you're one of those traveling conversationalists making small talk with whoever is next to you. Well, talk about a fun way to spice up a flight. Just being able to sit back and watch a space shuttle ascend to unfathomable heights would be pretty cool.

Guy On Bike Incredibly Balances Beer On Head

Not sure how open container laws work wherever they are, but it stands to reason that if that guy wasn't good to drive, he probably wouldn't be nearly as capable of balancing a full glass of beer on his head while riding.

Bride's Mid-Wedding Surprise From Groom Is Pure Exuberant Cringe

Bachelor Alum, Caila Quinn, left the wild world of TikTok divided after a notably uncomfortable video from her wedding went viral. Basically, Quinn decided that the romantic move was to overwhelm her groom with a display of love by having a flash mob sing Broadway-style songs in the middle of the actual ceremony. Maybe the whole "flash mob" effort would've panned out better if Quinn had opted to bring on more than four "disguised" singers. It seems like the sheer lack of volume when it comes to the singers just adds to the cringe.

Karen Demands Exact Change, Upset That She Gets It

There's no winning with some customers. If there's anything that working retail teaches people, it's to never expect decency or understanding out of another single person. Is that too harsh? Nah. When there's people like this scheming rotten salad lady walking around, there's no question why customer service can take on an adversarial tone.

Groom Checks Phone As Bride Walks Down Aisle

This guy's absolutely not alone if he's someone who unconsciously buries his face in his phone when the anxiety kicks in. Maybe he was overwhelmed by all the love, and had a moment of weakness where he didn't know what to do with himself. Clearly, the fact that they're still together indicates that it wasn't an unforgivable move on his part. The viral Tiktok video itself comes from TikToker @taylortoks.

Woman Won't Donate Vacation Days To Coworker, Asks If She's Wrong

Oh boy, the drama between coworkers is a ceaseless phenomenon. This time around we have one woman asking the moral judges of Reddit's AITA community whether or not she was in the wrong for refusing to donate her vacation days to a pregnant coworker. Based off the context provided here it really sounds like the fault falls on the company for putting their employees in a situation where there's no paid maternity leave being provided. If they'd simply provided that, then the rest of the drama could've been avoided altogether. Or, like what if the company just gave her more time off because she's pregnant and all that? For some more juicy drama check out this quick post about an entitled coworker who demanded a free cake, got denied, and then proceeded to issue threats.

Mayor Destroys Only Green-Space Park, Town Members Abandon Town

Alright, there were doubts expressed in the comments section over whether or not this is a mere work of fiction. At the same time some folks stepped forward to provide pretty compelling points that this very well could've been a thing back in the day. Even if it's some creative writing that we have going on here, it's a pretty entertaining series of events. Talk about a collective power move. Basically, don't mess with people's parks, man. Especially if you're the mayor of a very small town, and run the risk of having that very small town's population just dip out.

Wholesome Twitter Thread On Movie Theatre's Favorite Customer

The world's always going to churn out plenty of fails and other cringe-packed disasters. Every now and again it's nice to take a break from all that noise, and instead turn our attention to a nice wholesome Twitter thread about a movie theatre's favorite customer. It's an old and eccentric man named Eddie. Basically, Eddie sounds like a gem. An absolute gem. Literally such a sweet human being that he's able to make the otherwise arduous task of working at a movie theatre somewhat bearable. That's no small feat.

How Pepperoni And Seagulls Got One Man Banned From A Hotel

It's a well-known fact that seagulls have no sense of honor, so naturally they would be the ones involved in this guy's banning from a hotel. In this piece, he tries to explain the pepperoni-fueled madness that led to this ban, and appeals for a formal end to the censure. It's a wild ride. In honor of those pepperoni seagulls, here are some animals who shamelessly wrecked stuff.

Extremely Pregnant Employees Told To Tuck Shirts In, Malicious Compliance Ensues

Of course a manager would come in and decide to turn a total non-issue into a whole thing. It's not surprising that a workplace pregnancy could inspire so much miscommunication, given all these weird pregnancy misconceptions medical professionals have experienced. There are definitely times when it seems like some managers have it out for pregnant employees, like this manager who told a pregnant employee to stop slacking.

Insufferable Narcissists Who Believe They're Geniuses

The internet is a generally beneficial thing, but it comes with unintended consequences. Notably, it gives a voice to thousands of people with the self-awareness of 7th graders. As it turns out, those people use the internet as an opportunity to brag about their own perceived intelligence, put people down, and aggressively not get jokes. These bragging brain lords believe their geniuses and no amount of self-reflection will convince them otherwise.

Woman Steals Sister's Boyfriend, Marries Him, Sibling Won't Attend Wedding

Um, this family dynamic sounds absolutely disastrous. Like, we're talking right out of one of those painful reality shows. What kind of person has the audacity to steal their sibling's partner, marry them, and then throw a temper tantrum when their sibling doesn't want to attend the wedding? What did she expect? It sounds like someone's grown very comfortable living in their own little fantasy world. Yes, a fantasy world where she's blinded by such a thick haze of self-concerned narcissism that she's completely detached herself from her moral compass.

Dumbest Things That People Ever Said

We all have our unfortunate, humbling moments where the ego itself can't stand to exist in the face of unexplainable, self-created dumbness. Maybe these people's stories about the dumbest things that they ever said will make you feel better about your own cringeworthy moments that still manage to haunt you at night when you'd otherwise be catching a great night's rest.

Customer Believes That The Internet Runs On Magic

You've really got to hand it to the employees that are immersed in the grueling world of tech support. So many of them actually possess the patience of saints. I mean, how many calls can you realistically take from outrageously clueless customers before you just up and look for a new gig? I don't know, man. In this wonderful scenario we have a customer who seemed to believe that the internet runs on magic. Oh well, learn something new everyday. For another tech support tale check out this story about a man who assumed that his computer would run during a power outage.
