Twitter Thread: British Woman's Observations On Weird Stuff In U.K.

We love a good old fashioned Twitter that manages to culture us a little bit on some of the strange things that occur over in a foreign land like the U.K. For instance, apparently British people call their fanciest private schools public schools, which kind of makes zero sense. But hey, to each their own. For some more worldly content check out this AskReddit thread about Americans' biggest culture shocks when visiting Europe.

Man Gets Head Stuck In Lamp Shade, Wife Goes Into Labor, Chaos Ensues

We really hope this one isn't a work of fiction. Just picturing this chaotic scenario unfold is enough to get the laughs rolling. You've got a very pregnant wife who ends up going into labor right around when her husband also got his head stuck in a fish bowl style lamp shade. This guy's clearly going to be an urban legend in that hospital ward for days to come.

Due to various complications, we had opted for a planned C-section. The whole thing in general was just really bizarre, like, you pick your kid's birthday just like that! Anyway, my wife and I tend to be goofy, fun loving folk that's always

Font - On the day of the birth, just as we were about to leave to the hospital, I picked up this fishbowl style lamp shade (looked something like this) we hadn't yet put up onto my head because "we're boldly going where neither of us have gone before". I just saw it on my way to the door and didn't really think it through, so I immediately regretted this decision when my giant ears, my nose and hair (got down to my ass length hair that was in a loose bun) ended up blocking my head in this thing

3.

Font - As you can imagine, the car ride was a real mix bag of emotions for us all. We arrive, I do the walk of shame into the maternity ward with this bubble on my head holding my wife's hand and there's this older nurse who greeted us and I could see her dinner plate eyes just screaming "what the and my wife jokingly said "...Yep! I'm having his baby!" to which literally all the midwives in the maternity ward that could see us walk up the corridor just start howling with laughter and whoever wa

Font - Anyway, 4 hours later, we had a healthy baby and I got hazed by some of the older midwives. It was really good fun in the end. Wouldn't recommend, but it definitely beats any other birth story I've heard AND broke the ice with most of the staff. TL;DR: I got a bowl shaped lamp shade stuck on my head and had to take my wife to the hospital to have our baby whilst I had the bowl removed.

5.

Rectangle - P.S. For those of you wondering how I got it on in the first place, here's some handy dandy instructions in case you want to give it a go; get the bun in first, then move downwards over the ears, the nose and then push down until the ears get into the rim. The bun will smoosh up inside and move downwards a bit and voila! You're a

Font - Edit: Eish. Glad you guys found this so amusing. I don't know what these awards do, but l've never gotten one on my main before, so thanks for handing them to me. Also, thanks for all being so swell. I honestly was expecting people to just call me an idiot, but l've gotten some really lovely messages from some of you. 26.1k 493 ↑, Share

Informative Tumblr Post On Visual Snow Syndrome

So, in case you didn't already know, apparently it's not totally normal to go about your daily existence seeing "visual snow." So many folks just assume that this is how eyes work, and yeah, they're definitely not supposed to do that. Maybe this will be the little bit of enlightening information that you had no idea you needed. Check out some more gold from Tumblr with this post where Tumblr goes full mythological scientist mode on dragons.

1.

Happy - rjalker Dots... er e GHTYEAR Dots everywhere. Me trying to explain to someone that doesn't have Visual Snow about the static that covers everything I see. Here's a gif to demonstrate.

Font - skarosdrones *looks up from computer* now wait just one minute rjalker This is a real thing that exists, not intrusive thought. This is the reason I have glasses. I was a little kid, thought it was normal, tried to point them out to my mom, and she freaked out and brought me to an eye doctor. Where we found out I have shit eyesight. And also apparently where she learned what visual snow was. But. She deicded. Not. To tell me. (Like she's also decided not to tell me or my twin that we're a

4.

Font - Which is whyI made this post. She mentioned casually last year to her boyfriend that she learned I had visual snow when I was little and l'm jyst sitting there, having already painstakingly figured all of this out on my own like, "and you didn't think that was worth explaining to me even when I brought it to your atfention?????" So ueah. It's a thing. If you see staticy moving dots everywhere even with your eyes closed, you’ve got Visual Snow.

Font - teaboot I HAVE THIS!!~- I tried asking my teacher in grade 2 what they were, and she just told me to drink water. Never went away. Wasn't even studied until like 2013 or something. Sorta fun, mostly irritating! adiwesga i have this too! no one explained it to me i just found out from a sixpenceee post like a fool. i just thought EVERYONE had static and floaters in their vision. and that afterimages were that bad for everyone.

6.

Font - like even if im not looking into a bright light or my eyes pass over something slightly bright i get afterimages that can be blinding. when i close my eyes i always have after images of anything reflecting even a little light. i didnt realize that was part of visual snow until last year adiwesga here's some more symptoms for anyone curious if they have this:

Satisfying Images of Aesthetically Pleasing Perfection

There's a certain feeling you get when something is stacked just right or matches up oh so perfectly. Maybe it's because the world is chaotic and confusing and we find pleasure in some semblance of order. Maybe it's just some intangible aesthetically pleasing thing to see such clean lines in real life. Either way it makes people feel satisfied to see images of graceful perfection. And on the other end, oh man is it blood-boiling and frustrating to see imperfect things.
