Employee Battles Demerit System with Creepy Plant Hunger

Working in an environment with stupid rules is a real bummer. Demerits for having an uncovered coffee? Sounds like the kind of place where you'd want to start eating people's plants. For another bit of workplace revenge, here's a worker who deployed petty revenge on an elevator rule stickler.

Text - r/MaliciousCompliance · Posted by u/MontezMahal 6 days ago 3 4 e 3 3 05 3 May I Suck Your Succulent... oc M So, I worked for this torturous company that was killing me slowly, sort of like a Venus Fly Trap, but worse. The company gave out demerit points for rules that were broken. For instance, if you forgot to put a cover on your coffee mug-2 demerit points. If you forget your gate card 1 demerit.

2.

Text - If you exceeded 5- you attended an hour long video explaining the company's demerit system while sitting next to a F*ckster from HR. Demerits were erased every year on your hiring date, giving you back your squeaky clean slate. No doubt these rules where originally intended for the penal system-aptly named (Penal). Let's say you where getting 6 months of weekly allergy shots. You would be required to bring in ( individual) Doctors's notes, one per visit. I made the horrific mistake of thi

3.

Text - Newt was a dumb ole thing, who was reluctantly placed in HR as a last resort. Newt collected medical notes, and kept track of demerits, earning him the name Demerit Dong. Dong had it out for me, ever since I came up with his nick name, but he hated me more for dodging demerits, and pushing the envelope as far up his but crack as possible. The only thing that pleased Dong more than Demerit's was his nutty office plant collection. Dong would tell you all about his beloved Juniper Bonsai as

4.

Text - He accepted the note and went back to massaging his spider plant. The very next week Dong notifies me I have 3 demerits. WT! I storm into Dong's office, he was tending to his mini cactus trio. I wave a copy of my note. The bastard opens the rule book and points to a line stating that an individual note must be presented for EACH medical visit. Dong finally got me-and that was the end of that....or was it? Dong asked me what I was allergic to. He chuckles, gets up and starts fingering his

5.

Text - "Pica" was my latest affliction. Pica ( an abnormal desire to eat substances, such as DIRT chalk or ash ) not normally eaten. Fast Forward I get a promotion, however due to lack of office space during renovations I get to share a temporary space with Dong, and all his plant children for the next 9 cozy months. No options, no other place to move to, and I was ready! Dong's day would start by finding strategically placed spoons in the dirt of random potted plants. I would say things to Dong

6.

Text - Some days I would ask him these questions through a dirt stained upper lip. Finale Although it was easy, I got Dong to admit he could have cleared my demerits by resubmitting paper work back to HR, but Dong chose not to do so, instead he told me to go prove it! Sounds easy enough.... I simply explained to the Head of HR... Newt was a great office mate, but I had allergies and a special condition aggravated by any plant that required dirt. All my medical notes were on file to “prove it". D

Weirdest Things Walmart Employees Witnessed

If there's one thing that seems glaringly obvious in these stories of weird days on the job for Walmart employees, it's that there's pretty much never a normal day on the job when you're working at Walmart. Also, people really need to stop using Walmart aisles as their own personal bathrooms.

Text - gigashadow89 • 6y My favorite was the guy who came in and said "I lost the remote so I need a new tv" I asked him if the tv was broken. It wasn't, he just lost the remote and didn't want to bother finding it, so he wanted a new tv. I showed him our selection of universal remotes....he responded with "but then l'd have to program it. The new tv comes with a preprogrammed remote." So I sold the guy a 50 inch tv. 621 ...

Text - bakageta • 6y Former Walmart employee, hope that counts. Not nearly as weird as some of these, but I watched a disgruntled employee spear 5-6 large TVs with the forklift-like picker used to pull pallets off the top shelves in the back. He said he was sick of the job and had done everything he could think of to get fired, but wasn't having any luck. It was near Christmas, and they apparently needed people so badly he didn't get fired over this either. After coming back from a talk with the

One of my favorite stories was one night about 3am a bunch of kids came in wearing bandannas and riding adult-sized big wheels about as fast as they could. They made it clear across the store to the soda and stole about 5 2-liters and a bunch of chips and snacks. The entire staff just watched this happen too. Seemed par for the course. I was working a 12p-10p shift and the overnight manager called off sick, so I stayed until 4am so somebody working mornings could come in early and we could have it covered. Any way, it was February in northern Illinois. The temp outside at 2am was about 6 degrees. Two men in what looked like their mid-50s with tanned skin wearing Bavarian barmaid dresses, complete with shoes and pigtails, were walking through the store shopping. I made eye contact for a moment, and I got the the most serious look from one of them. They were acting like it wasn't unusual at all.

I noticed a guy standing by the fence on the outside, in the apartment complex. About ten minutes later, another comes running from in the store, TV in hands and chucks it over the 10 foot fence. His friend caught it and took off running into the complex. They earned that TV. 221 •..

Then there are the people who are busted, and you see the stuff in the Loss Prevention (LP) room or being brought to customer service by the LP team. Wild Junk Substitute Teachers Did

Many of us have heard some wild and awkward junk said by teachers, but the substitutes are an interesting bunch. They seem to inhabit this weird gray area of accountability, and are somehow absolutely free to not give a rip. For some more teacher stuff, here are kids' hilarious misconceptions about teachers.

1.

Text - sup_poptarts 170 points · 14 hours ago I was out for a week during my first year as a teacher and when I got back, the kids started asking me when they were going to get their money back. I was like, what money? Apparently, the sub had asked the kids for money (e.g. “Hey, does anyone have a dollar for a soda? Etc) and my sweet little 6th graders gave him lots of money.

2.

Text - tylerbrainerd 35.1k points · 18 hours ago 32 When I was a substitute, I got a lot of requested jobs because the substitute pool was poor. One such example given to me was a substitute who would just go to sleep. I barely believed it. Once I was teaching full time, I had a sub come in for a day. When I got back my students told me that he told them to leave him alone, sat down, and went to sleep. I believed it then.

Text - boobforababy 30.9k points · 16 hours ago I was a teachers assistant while in college. The teacher and I took a week long workshop and had a sub. The worst thing she did. Not letting the kids go potty. It was in kindergarten and she said all the kids going to bathroom were interrupting the class. One girl wet herself. School policy was if kids under a certain age had an accident the nurse would give them a pull up (basically a diaper) to wear. The substitute proceeded to make fun of the gi

Teacher forced me to write with my left while I had a cast. I couldn't even grasp the pencil. Cried a lot. Then a couple months go by and got my cas

Threw out a broken electric pencil sharpener that kids broke in front of her. Which again, I bought with my own money and couldn't get replaced by the company because I had no product to send back. I still don't have a sharpener for my room. Let the kids go through my things in my cabinets and desk. Lost a bunch of stuff that way.

This was a class that contained some pretty rough students including one suspended multiple times for fighting and some gang members. She decided to go after a sweet, petite girl that never caused trouble and was generally popular with her classmates. This set off the entire class which is when the sub went ballistic and started wildly throwing accusations and yelling at said st

My colleague was showing Clash of the Titans at the end of the year after a unit on Ancient Greece. There is mild nudity at the beginning and the end of the movie, but they were in the middle of the movie so there shouldn't have been an issue. He left the video paused at the right spot (we still had VCRS like 10 years ago when this happened), but the sub somehow managed to show both t

I teach K- 5 and I specifically didn't tell the kids because I didn't want them to worry. So, when I came back, I had a bunch of kids come up to me asking about my Mom, which was so sweet, but not something the kids should've had to worry about.

Text - Back2Bach 11.7k points · 18 hours ago S There was a harpsichord in the front of the classroom used both for demonstration and performance. Not knowing what he was doing, the sub tried to tune 3 notes that had gone mildly out of tune while I was away. He managed to break the strings on all 3 notes and left a message inside reading: "Sorry about that..."
