It's hard to cover up every plot hole of a cartoon that is by definition supposed to not make sense anyway. This girl seemingly popped out of the blue, and assumed she'd be invited to the wedding of a "friend" she hadn't talked to in a long time. Scary signs serve the valuable purpose of warning people of possible danger. They're not supposed to be nice or fun. Well, that's one way to get your protein with your water. Just imagine waking up, potentially disoriented as many humans are at that moment, and then realizing that you've accidentally ingested a spider. Panic might ensue, but long as you didn't eat something poisonous (even then, how does that shake out?), you might just find yourself having to accept what is. The emotional manipulation and toxic conditioning was present from the get-go with this "work opportunity." As it turns out, this employee found themselves in the middle of what sounds like a shady MLM ran by an emotionally manipulative cult leader boss with an affinity for using people to further their own gain, while selling them on the idea that it's for the collective good. Apparently this documentary helped the employee piece the disorienting and ultimately deceptive picture together.

People absolutely love leaving extremely critical, sometimes untruthful reviews of stores and restaurants. Sometimes it's even a lie made up by their competition. Business owners will go to bat online to defend their honor, like this guy who leveled with a customer who complained over buying a single dollar taco.
