This IT worker was tired of being insulted for no reason at all. In the story shared to r/pettyrevenge by u/Timely-Caterpillar88, the OP was working as a desktop tech, and often used the same ticketing system as their coworker. The coworker, "Jack," clearly thought that he was way smarter than the OP. From the way he talks down to the OP — and accuses the OP of things they didn't do. That's a serious misstep on Jack's part! 

At least the OP did the right thing by bringing up the issue to HR. So many workplaces become incredibly toxic due to bullies like Jack. It hinders communication, and it makes it worse to stay at a company that may have other issues besides dealing with cranky coworkers. One commenter put it perfectly, saying, "I think you just debugged your department."

Next, this guy froze out his neighbor — all because the neighbor took this guy's hard-earned parking spot.

He shared his side of the story via this thread on Reddit's r/AmITheA**hole subreddit, and even with his heavily biased framing, the truth was pretty easy to detect. The guy was being an idiot and clearly thought this was funny, amusing content he could share around with zero consequences. Well, sir. You very well may have just lost your girlfriend. At the very least, this will always be a bump in the road of your relationship and one that certainly caused her to call her trust in you into question.

LinkedIn has recently become a tragic cringe-fest for people who take to it in order to feel better about themselves. Kind of like TikTok influencers, but less professional. Now, that isn't to say there aren't a few perks to LinkedIn. It's a great place to broaden your social network, expand, search for a job, and develop your career. THAT BEING SAID: LinkedIn is still stupid. Does it make for some wild entertainment? Yes, it does. If you're finding yourself bored on a Friday night, just go to r/LinkedInLunatics, it will put life into perspective, and it's way better than a reality show.

Every retail or service person has learned the hard way why you don't make exceptions for customers and guests. These people will go feral on you and make your life a verifiable living hell for a few weeks until they've done the damage they're seeking and disappear into the void of their miserable existence to ruin someone else's day.

The commenters have the right of it here: Never under any exceptions should you ever remain alone with a customer—especially when handling cash. They're a stranger, of whom you have no prior knowledge, and you should never underestimate what someone is capable of. There's a reason most organizations have firm rules about this; it's incredibly important for staff safety.

As we watched from the drive-through window, we all knew that this person was "that one guy" at our place.

One has to wonder if she is going to apply the same logic to all the gifts she received from her wedding guests. I mean, now that she's divorced, shouldn't she technically "no longer" be needing them? Of course, Romeo the Photographer (a wonderful name, might I add!) refused to give her said refund as it's entirely not his fault that her marriage fell apart. As one person in the comments section humorously quipped, this divorcée's logic is like asking for a refund for someone's 16th birthday gift because they are now 17. The real question here is who had it coming: the boss or the employee? Sure, the boss crossed a line when she ate the Redditor's lunch and just said "oops" rather than apologizing and allowing her employee to go out and buy a new lunch. That's definitely not a good look.

 

However, the employee did sort of bury the lede here, didn't he? He called his boss a witch, which is obviously a controversial term with plenty of gendered implications. On top of that, he called her a witch after she implied at a work party that he had one too many drinks and shouldn't drive home. Honestly, that's not being a shady boss. That's being safe. Perhaps she should have made that comment in a less public way. I mean, this lady is clearly no saint. But if this encounter was the cause of the lunch-eating debacle, she very well may have been in the right at first.

It's too bad the OP told her family. Now, she either has to give them some of the money she meant to give to her unborn baby, or she has to deal with some angry family members.

This woman's son was a good student when he was in high school, but he just absolutely hated going. Meanwhile, his single mother had a full-time job and was at her wit's end after countless attempts to correct this behavior. In her state, parents of truant children could be subject to jail time, so this was getting very serious very quickly. 

 

What happened next was a plan that only a mastermind could concoct. Our only real concern here is that the bully might discover that the Redditor had something to do with this. OP should not have wished his bully good luck with his chances of getting into school; otherwise, he might have been able to get away with this completely. Finance is probably one of the least "metal" things out there… picturing stuffy workers wearing formal outfits in a sterile stark-white office, balancing spreadsheets and hedging investments doesn't evoke an image of the rebellious ideals and counter-culture movements that rock n' roll was built on.

That being said, this story delivered what its title promised: Heavy Metal Finance. Redditor u/Psygnal shared this riveting tale of an entrepreneurial program they created which led to theft, betrayal, and revenge at their place of work in the late nineties. 

They tell how they worked as a financial compliance officer and created a tool to make their work easier for themself, allowing them to maintain a more consistent application of policy and process. This worked well until their boss decided that they would take the tool and distribute it to the entire company, taking credit for its development in the process. Further, when it came to the boss's knowledge that there were certain aspects of the program (which the whole company was now using) that they didn't like, they decided to reprimand the worker for it.

This may be one of the best malicious compliance stories we've read to date, and the reason for that is the novelty, hilarity, and downright relatability of the details. A tyrannical boss had taken her reign over a government department where she was less than kind to her employees, OP included. At the time, OP was a technical writer and had been slowly transferring an old employee handbook into a modern and actually useful doc (ex: one page with policies and links to useful websites, like Office of Personal Management, forms for workman's comp, etc). OP's boss wanted the whole thing printed out ASAP, or rather, the next morning.

For those wondering 'what the heck', it might be worth mentioning that this was well over a decade ago. OP's boss wasn't happy with the 200 or so pages that OP printed, and proceeded to scream her lungs out, saying something like 'Do you think people can just go to a website when it is on paper? NO! Print everything out', and OP replied calmly (bless them) that the sites were pretty dense and deep, so it would be about 10,000 pages.
