Incompetent Management Forgets To Issue Notice, Employee Leverages It Into Extra Month's Pay

As everyone was packing up their desks and leaving the office, it finally dawned on management to ask why one single employee was still sitting there as if nothing was happening. As it turned out, they had failed to issue a notice to him specifically about the state of the company, forcing a last-minute negotiation over the rest of his employment there. Maybe it's an understatement to say that it can help to understand the language of your contract when it comes to situations like these. The dude stuck to his guns and managed to finagle his way into a nice chunk of change in exchange for doing absolutely nothing. Sounds pretty sick.

For a delicious tale of someone getting back at their old employer, here's the employee who was fired and then told to forget everything they knew, just to have it blow up in their ex boss's face.

Insecure Boyfriend Flees His Own Birthday Getaway Weekend When His Babe of a Girlfriend Calls Him "Safe"

We all would probably like to think of ourselves as being the most penultimately desirable person to our partners. No one wants to think that their partner could have had a better option had the chance presented itself. It's just like that How I Met Your Mother episode where they describe "The Reacher" and "The Settler" the one in the relationship who manages to land someone who is "out of their league" is "The Reacher" because they've managed to reach up past their dating level. "The Settler" is the one who could have "dated higher" but decided to go with someone who could be seen as less attractive or less desirable (for one reason or another) because of some connection, compatibility, or personal preference that just worked.

Just as in How I Met Your Mother, my partner and I have argued for years over which one of us in the relationship is "The Settler," We both narcissistically swear to the ends of the earth that it's ourselves. The secret that neither of us will ever admit to each other is that, when we first started dating, we both thought that we had landed ourselves a catch and considered ourselves "The Reacher."

I say "thought" there because after seven years, whether or not either of us is a "catch" at this point doesn't really matter and is more fun to joke about than anything else.

Well, perhaps understandably, this guy is still a little insecure about his place in his relationship with his babe of a girlfriend. He admits in his post that he "Never thought [he] had a chance.] and that he felt they "Weren't in the same league."

The guy, Redditor u/boatlyfe12, posted this thread titled "AITA for leaving a couples trip in the middle of the night and "ruining" the vibe?" to the popular r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit. The post is dripping with insecurities and reeks of fractured self-confidence, and he will inevitably lose this catch if he doesn't manage to sort these issues out.

Who knows, he may have blown his chances already with how he describes reacting to some comments his girlfriend made while he was on an all-expenses-paid getaway vacation that his girlfriend organized for his birthday with all of their friends. Like, my guy, clearly the girl has (or had at least) some pretty solidified feelings for you if she was willing to splash out that much cash to throw you a good time.

Unfortunately, her comments during a party game triggered his insecurities and bruised his ego. He then made the rash decision to leave and now the relationship is in turmoil. The most concerning thing to me here is that it's apparent in his edits that his ego is refusing to move out of the way and he is determined to save face and "feel like the man" in order to prove to himself that he deserves his girlfriend. He is trying to frame the situation as if he is going to decide if the relationship is "salvageable." Bro, you're going to be lucky if she doesn't dump you.

If she does… you completely deserve it and your own insecurities have ironically eventuated your own worst fears.

The internet is certain that the fault rests solely on his shoulders. What's your take?

28 of the Most Disastrous and Dumb Mistakes People Witnessed Their Coworkers Make

When you're a kid, you think that adults have everything figured out. As you age, you have the horrifying, dawning realization that nobody has anything figured out.

That realization is reinforced when you enter the workforce and are exposed to your fellow "adults" who range from simply 'faking it' like the rest of us to being dangerously and dysfunctionally problematic. Those adults that you idolized when you were young often failed to learn the fundamental lessons that you were supposed to learn in kindergarten.

For better or for worse, you're going to run into these people repeatedly throughout your adult life, and so, purely on a statistical basis, you bear witness to a lot of crazy things.

These Redditors shared the most insane and stupid mistakes they had the misfortune of bearing witness to at their workplaces. Given the context of some of these situations, it really makes you wonder how they managed to get these jobs in the first place.

Top Tinder Moments of the Week (June 14th, 2022)

Welcome to your weekly dose of the hottest trending takes from online dating. This week's selection is a handful and includes a good number of poor conversationalists who probably shouldn't be wasting their time with online dating if they're too bored to properly respond.

Take #1 as an example… are they seriously gatekeeping their dating pool based on whether or not they have an iPhone? If this is some kind of attempt at gold-digging I highly doubt there's any validity to it. There will be tons of tech bros out there touting Androids and I highly doubt Bill Gates is rocking an iPhone.

#3 responding that they would dress as a meteor to establish dominance is absolute gold. She needs to tie that guy up immediately and make sure there's no Vol.37 for the reasons why he's still single.

Scroll through this week's selection, it's a little tamer than the last few weeks but can only get rowdier once summer fully forms.

Workers Reveal Whether They would Snitch on a Coworker for $1,000 a Week

True colors are getting exposed around here

Guy Volunteers Personal Vehicle For Staff Transport Until They Threaten to Axe His Per-Diem, Costs Them More $

When your employee is doing you a favor, essentially out of their own pocket, it's probably best not to try and cheap out on them to penny-pinch your way into a promotion.

Alas, some people are blind to a little thing called "good faith" that is essential in any employment relationship. "Good faith" eventuates out of mutually fair, open, and honest treatment by both the employee and employer. It might sound, to a lot of us, like a romantic fantasy dreamt up by an unrealistic optimist (honest and fair?), but it's real. When it works, it can be fantastic and mutualistically beneficial.

Good faith was working well between this equipment operator and his employer for some time. He went out of his way to ensure that things were operating effectively and smoothly -it was off his own back that his other crew members were able to get to and from the site daily. In return, he got a little kickback in the form of his per-diem that he was saving by living out of his transportation vehicle.

When a penny-pinching middle manager decided that he wanted to save the cost of the employee's per-diem he didn't realize it was going to end up costing the company more in the long run.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit by a friend of the equipment operator, Redditor u/balles_de_acier, they shared their friend's story to the popular sub with the title "Another Per-Diem Tale..."

Frat Bros Enraged When Girls Organize Group to Keep Each Other Safe, University Steps in to Try and Stop Them

This girl started a group to protect herself and the other girls at her school from the predatory behavior they were facing at parties at their university. Of course, this drew the ire of the predators they were seeking to stop. But, more surprisingly, it also attracted the attention of the school administration who sought to put a stop to it.

Shouldn't a university be trying to do the opposite of what they're doing in this post? The college should be trying to fund these programs, not tear them down.

The only explanation is that alumni of the predatory groups that they're trying to stop are the ones who are now members of the administration and funding the university. Otherwise, why would they seek to allow the behavior to continue?

Redditor u/solidarityslutts posted this topic to the AITA subreddit to see if she was in the wrong for forming the "hoe union" as the girls have jokingly been referring to it.

Double Take-Causing Images of Things That Look Like Other Things

It's way too amusing to find a thing that looks like a different thing. Honestly, it shouldn't make us that excited when a cat looks like Ron Pearlman or when a dog looks like William H. Macy. Or maybe it's the other way around. But still, things that look like other stuff make our brains pop and crackle with good-time juice to the point that someone should really come in and check on us, because this is bordering on not okay.

It doesn't even need to be a perfect rendition of starry night accidentally splattered onto the side of a bus. Even when there's just a face in a car or a stove, it makes us feel like we're a princess in a Disney movie. It's just so nice when the hinges on your shower door look at you like they'll treat you right.

Here are some more double take inducing images of things that look like other stuff.

25 People's Favorite Screw You's of History

There are so many ways to express your distaste for someone. A lot of the time we simply bottle it up until the emotion explodes all over our loved ones. But there are other ways. Aside from legendary quips, there have been people who started massively successful companies just to tell someone else that the suck. We've all ended altercations with inward-facing impotent rage, so why not do something productive with it, like write an award winning children's film? That's something right? They say living a good life is the best revenge, but maybe put more specifically, "becoming massively successful out of spite" is tied for first.

In any event, we can all use this as inspiration to express ourselves in productive, clever and terrifically vindictive ways to the people who wrong us. For some sweet hot brutal witticisms, here are big brassy comebacks that filled people's pants with wit.

Employer Threatens to Sue Employee For Passwords Ten Years After They Left

There are people in this world, and a dismaying number at that, who are only in it for themselves. They have no concern or regard for other people if it doesn't give them some advantage.

It's a shame then that so many of these people go on to start companies or otherwise end up in positions of power. Perhaps that same unfeeling ruthlessness ultimately is what enables their success in such a brutal, dog-eat-dog world.

This is evidenced by the well-known statistic that, while those with psychopathic traits make up 1% of the population, roughly 4-12% of CEOs display these same traits.

If this is your 10th time reading that, here it's because this is one of my favorite statistics of all time. In fact, it makes up for 64% of my statistical references.

Anyways, the point is, this employer is one of those people who are entirely in it for themselves. While they didn't give a lick about this employee when they were there, they didn't hesitate to reach out and get something from them when they needed something… Even if it was ten years later.

Ancient Soup Stock Tradition Using Ancient Soup Stock Sparks Conflict, Horrifies Girlfriend

Ahhhh just like Grandma made it 50 years ago... because grandma did make it 50 years ago. She may be gone but she's not forgotten, because she's still with us in the form of her ancient soup stock in the freezer. We even added some of her bones for flavor after she left us. Legend has it that our earliest ancestors used soup stock to traverse the land bridge from Asia.

This girlfriend has lodged a horrified objection to her boyfriend's family's use of ancient soup stock to "seed" the next generation of soup stock children. She's doing the calculations in her head and her brain is smoking at the thought that this soup stock seed has been frozen and reheated an unfathomable amount of times.

The truth is it's perfectly safe. She's right that you don't want to reheat food more than once but when done in this way there's a little-to-no risk.

As commenters have stated: Just wait until she finds out about sourdough bread, yogurt, and kombucha too.

What's your take? Is she wrong in her objection?

Teachers Get Revenge on Horrible Head of Department, Target Her Morning Coffee

These teachers got cold and calculated revenge on their "nightmare" Head of Department by ensuring that she repeatedly had to go without her morning cup of coffee.

Whatever she did to these poor souls, she can't have done anything terrible enough to warrant this. It's a cruel act indeed to deprive someone of that essential morning cup of life's essence. Although, if she's that nasty, maybe she needs to cut back on the caffeine a little bit anyways.

This story was originally posted by u/Outside-Question to the r/pettyrevenge subreddit, and it lives up to that name's promise.

u/Outside-Question describes that the staff have had "serious problems" with their Head of Department in the past. She is also an absolute coffee addict and is highly particular about how she takes her cup of joe. This left the perfect opportunity for her underlings to enact small doses of petty revenge upon her.

As commenters have already suggested, if you're going to be a terrible boss, you should probably avoid divulging your weaknesses to your underlings.

Neighbors Keep Parking Illegally, Building Owner Gets Large Scale Ice Revenge

It's remarkable, the amount of drama that can come from a single parking dispute. People will call cops, end relationships, and throw hands over parking. But the fact that it's in essence a territorial dispute makes it something that goes deep into our bones. The fact that these guys took up an entire zone of private spaces meant that OP was ready to wage war on these careless parkers.

All it took was a below freezing Chicago winter, a hose with a sprinkler attachment, and time to make sure that it was going to be the last time the parking spaces were taken up by interlopers.

Was this particularly cruel, and probably overkill? Probably. Was it an effective way to keep people from illegally filling up all of your parking spaces? Absolutely.

For another delicious tale of parking revenge, here's the entitled neighbor who tried to usurp a neighbor's driveway and ended up getting towed.

30 Times People's Clueless Bosses Tried to Solve Morale Issues with Punishment

Not all workplaces are created equal. For every chill boss and cool coworker there's what seems like a dozen insane managers who will do everything in their power to make you miserable in exchange for a questionably low sum of money. The deeply, painfully ironic question of "how can we raise morale without changing pay rates or work culture" is lost on the type of people who lack the part of their brain that sees their employees as anything but an eternally grateful font of labor. The type of people who will wonder out loud "why is everyone having trouble getting all their work done" and schedule a series of time-consuming meetings to get to the bottom of it. And god forbid you have a CEO who sits you down and tells you that money doesn't matter, and that they're personally upset that you would have the selfishness to ask for money in exchange for doing your job.

For a fun tale of workplace revenge, here's the employee who was fired and told to forget everything they knew about the job, just to have it blow up in their ex-boss's face.

Cheating Cousin Plans to Marry New Boyfriend, Family Plans Vacation on Her Wedding Day Instead

Is this guy an A-Hole for planning a vacation during his hot mess of a cousin's wedding? Yeah, most definitely. But for once in these AITA threads, he's the A-Hole but we aren't mad about it. This is a brilliant way to take a stand against your family member's poor behavior. This is especially important when you consider the fact that the family was closer to the cousin's husband than they ever were to the cousin herself.

This would be sad if the cousin was being excluded for some kind of belief, differences, or preference (as often happens in families) but it genuinely sounds like she is just a really crappy person who is finally receiving some repercussions for the way that she treats other people.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by this guy, Redditor u/beachbumm10, who is wondering if he is in the wrong for planning this vacation during his cousin's wedding and inviting other family members when they expressed interest.

It might be wrong, but this is one case where it's ok to be wrong in our book. What's your take?

These Star Trek Memes Are Set To Stunning

There's just something about watching a crew of tight-shirted dorks in an endless morality play that really gives us a squeeze of the good brain juice. Maybe it's because it makes us feel smart despite having a dubious basis in actual science. Maybe it's that feeling of endless possibility that a universe offers. Maybe it's all of the aliens that look like humans with some extra forehead, all locked in struggles of political turmoil that so mirror our own world.

Honestly, we think it's Captain Kirk's campy "two fisted smash" that he uses to impossibly incapacitate his enemies. Or the fact that after so long, you'd think the engineers of the future would find a way to stop sparks from shooting everywhere every time they get hit with something. It's kind of beautiful that Star Trek has the capacity to be both terrific and also kind of dumb at the same time. But isn't that the case with everything that we love?

Here are some more Star Trek memes to show to the next generation.

Fiancée Brags About Being Breadwinner, Is Late On Rent And Only Spends Money On Herself

It seems like this person has a misinformed idea of what the term "breadwinner" actually means. If you make more money than your partner, but you still split your expenses 50/50 and spend the difference on yourself, you don't get to give your friends and family the impression that you're the moneyed life raft that your partner is clinging onto for dear life. The descriptions here seem to indicate that it's kind of the other way around. Hell, it seems like this lady is pretty crap with her money altogether.

The internet was quick to point out that marrying someone who lies about this sort of thing might not be a very good move. OP was probably leaning in this direction in the first place, and all the responses indicating that, "yeah, that's a weird thing to do" were most likely the icing on the cake when it came to postponing the wedding entirely.

25 Chaotic Times Misfortune Struck People's Lives

It's never a question of if things will go wrong. It's a question of when and how. The "how" is a really interesting one. Who knew there were so many ways that chaos could ruin someone's day? A single burst pipe or trampoline blown through a window has the capacity to ruin your month, and those aren't even things that are even on our radar most of the time. Sometimes junk just falls out of the sky. It's not super common, but it's also not something most of us take into account when we're looking for a place to park. Sometimes a problem can be as simple and complex as "bees." Sure, that's easy to say, but what's your plan for dealing with "bees?" Run away? What if they're on your stuff?

There are so many factors to consider regarding misfortune that maybe the best approach is "well cross that bridge when we get to it." But that's assuming the bridge itself is still standing.

Here are some more unpredictable moments of failure and chaos.

Mom Refuses to Help Around the House, Tells Husband Her Job is More Important Than His

Everyone has different priorities. Some people care about their hobbies, some about sport, and others still about their careers. When we join together and form relationships, these priorities can clash and cause conflict; without careful compromise, concession, and communication, these conflicts can grow and tear the relationship asunder.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit by the wife, u/workingmomaita, who feels that her husband should be picking up any extra slack that she demands without fuss.

There is absolutely a point to be made for "sharing the load" when it comes to jobs and household tasks. My partner and I have both (at different periods) had more or less flexibility in our jobs and more (or less) time sunk into our commutes. Whichever one has less "load" on our shoulders at that given time will help pick up the slack and do extra tasks so that the other one doesn't have to do them. This ultimately gives us an even split of stress and free time and gives us more time together, making both of us happier.

Honestly, this seems like it is both of their faults, but it's telling that the wife seems to think that her husband is obligated to pick up these extra tasks without a discussion about it. She may have a point, but that point is completely lost on the fact that she comes across as utterly focused on her career and completely uncaring about her family and their needs. And THAT is something that her husband has every right to be upset about.

What's your take on this issue?

Team Stitches Manager Up With Smelly Dude When Company Makes Workers Share Hotel Rooms

There's never anything good that will come out of cutting costs at the expense of employee morale, as commenter u/QuantomField points out. If you're willing to blatantly state to your workers that you care more about a couple of pennies than you do about them, you need to be prepared for all bets to be off.

Accountants never take the human aspect of the workplace into consideration, and when they're budgeting and balancing, they always (and actually just take for granted) the obvious fact that if you take care of someone, they're going to take care of you. As in, workers will often do everything they can to save costs for an employer who appreciates their work and treats them well, but if an employer is exploitative and doesn't see their workers as people, then the workers are going to maliciously comply with any rule that is changed and any expenditure that is allowed. They'll still color inside the lines, but they will color to the line.

Redditor u/TheMilkJug shared this brilliant story of doing precisely that to the r/MaliciousCompliance subreddit. See screenshots below.

Friend Has Temper Tantrum Over Ride Being a Lyft Not an Uber

People will pitch a fit over just about anything. It's a scenario like the one we have here that might make you hold a deeper appreciation for the good friends that you've managed to find in this life. You know, like the friends that don't insist on staging a temper tantrum over the fact that the ride that you called was a Lyft and not an Uber. Like what? Get out of here with that. You can imagine what the moral judges of Reddit's AITA community had to say about the matter.

This thread was originally posted on Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-Hole) subreddit where it trended to the top of the popular sub. The poster, Redditor u/Antigoing, posted the topic with the title "Friend Has Temper Tantrum Over Ride Being Lyft Not Uber." They posted the thread to see whether or not they were in the wrong for a dispute that happened between themselves and a friend over the branding of the ride share service that they ordered.

Funny, Random and Ridiculous Tweets and Tumblr Gems

After enough time spend staring at the wall, it's time to take a deep breath and stare at the small electronic wall that lives in your pocket. The verbal wizards of twitter and tumblr are out dropping knowledge, jokes and some of the most beautifully stupid observations on the internet. It's impossible to tell where the conversation came from or where it's going, but you can rest assured that it won't end where you thought it would.

Maybe in this crop of words, some will stick to your brain guts and make its way out at a party, getting all over someone. And then hopefully they'll take it somewhere else and spread it around a little. Y'know, like the casual funny joke version of the flu. That's good right?

Anyway here are the thoughts of people on the interwebs. The internet might be like one long simultaneous group delusion/panic attack, but at least it sometimes ends with a punchline.

Husband's Friend Accuses Wife of Cheating in Front of In-Laws at Their Pregnancy Announcement

This couple organized a gathering with the husband's side of the family to announce their happy news. They had recently discovered that they were pregnant and were ready to share it with their family and friends. The husband invited his "brutally honest" friend to the affair.

After they announced their news, the friend's immediate reaction was to suggest to the husband, his friend, that he get a paternity test in order to be certain that the child was his. He was essentially implying that the wife was likely to have been cheating in front of her in-laws.

She is incredibly upset about the entire affair, and rightfully so, in our view. She deserves an apology from her husband's friend.

This thread was posted to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A--Hole) subreddit by the distraught wife who is questioning everything because of her husband's rude friend. His comments have led her to disinvite him to their wedding, which has caused conflict with her husband. She is wondering if she is wrong for the steps she has taken.

Is she overreacting? Who do you think is in the wrong here?

Radio Station Won't Fix Phone Mix-up, Dad Starts Telling People They've Won Free Cars

It's not uncommon for people to have wrong number mix-ups that result in them getting calls intended for a place of business. Some people just listen patiently or learn to ignore it. But some of us are more adept at making lemonade from lemons, like the time this unreasonable store owner who wouldn't update their phone number so a dude fought back.

It seems like if you just asked nicely, people would be willing to help out. But that's nt always the case. Sometimes people will only solve a problem when it starts impacting them personally. And as it turns out, people mistaking your home phone number for a business puts you in a very effective place to make it that business's problem. This person recounted the time their phone number was mixed up with a radio station's request line, and it inspired others to share their weird experiences with similar phone number confusions.

The 34 Biggest "F You's" in History

These historical figures delivered the ultimate 'F You's" to their rivals and adversaries. Using dastardly and elaborate methods (and carefully crafted turns of phrase) they managed to deliver some absolutely savage responses.

Tolkien is famous for his rebuttal to a publisher in Nazi Germany who sought confirmation that he was of Aryan descent. The author used his gift for words to write a brilliant response honoring the Jewish people and effectively telling the Nazis to shove it.

Redditors gathered on this r/AskReddit thread to share their examples of what they felt were the best and biggest moments of this in history. There's also one example that a random person felt like sharing where they got nuclear revenge on their cousin who kept stealing their boyfriends. So, yeah, that's a thing too.

Is there an example that isn't included in this thread? Let us know in the comments!

Workers Reveal Secrets from their Professions that the General Public would be Shocked to know

Every industry has their secrets

Interviewer Makes Inappropriate Moves on Candidate, Blames Her When He Gets Fired

There's a strict code of professionalism that needs to be followed when undertaking job interviews. It's a situation that often has a significant power discrepancy, and the person being interviewed is usually nervous as all hell. Under no circumstances should you start asking a candidate highly personal and intimate questions about themselves.

Well, this code of professionalism is one that this idiot interview refused to follow when he decided it was ok for him to start into the personal topics with this poor woman. His questions ranged from across the line to highly inappropriate, even going as far to ask "what type of dudes [she liked]." Unsurprisingly, he was fired on the spot when she reported her experience to his superior. Now he's pissed off at her for "having him fired" and has even saved her personal details and tried to contact her. Like, dude, what?

The woman who was interviewed, Redditor u/R_Rover_2013, posted this thread to Reddit's r/AITA (Am I the A-hole) subreddit in order to see if she was in the wrong for getting this interviewer fired.

Commenters overwhelmingly sided with her, and several pointed out that his actions got him fired. She just reported them.

It doesn't sound like this guy is the type to learn anything from this experience, but hopefully, he'll eventually realize that his consequences are of his own actions.

Screenshots to follow.
