Fascinating Friend is Perplexed by Obvious Stuff

Whether it's a combination of being sheltered, homeschooling, living in an extremely remote place, or being an undercover alien trying to understand earth, this person's friend got some attention for having some serious gaps in their knowledge. It's weird to be reminded that some folks don't get the memo and you have to explain really obvious things to people.

1.

Food - Salmon, cucumber and ginger filling wait what are those black layers made of Nori-seaweed so it's edible ? I always thought that was just a plastic coating that you had to remove

2.

Text - We don't use ovens at all Yeah we don't Oooh :0 I've never seen an oven honestly In real life I mean Microwaves hes Yes

3.

Text - what's rye bread how's it different from normal bread rye is a grain, like wheat. Wheat makes white bread, rye bread is brown. Oooh I always buy brown bread Maybe it's made from rye Does it say "rye bread" on the packaging? It says brown bread I didn't look into the ingredients though

4.

Text - When my cousin was a kid, he used to have rice with toothpaste Oh well what eww Yes Imao and his parents let him? Not really But he didn't eat without the toothpaste So they couldn't let him starve

5.

Text - what is a cat scratching post in the first place Oh, cat scratching posts are little poles that people can get in their homes so the cat won't scratch furniture Cats need to sharpen their claws on something and can be taught to use a specific post for that wait cats have claws ? like significant ones ? Have you never seen a cat irl not up close

6.

Grass - i wear my winter clothes at that temp why is it so big can you eat it that is a mushroom right

7.

Text - But my home town is pretty moderate all year acclimatisation the human body can get used to certain temperatures, and it can take a long time Yeah I guess I mean, you'd die in -30 and l'd die in +40 I'm pretty sure we both would die in -30 ? Does it really get that cold ?

8.

Food - True Look at my beautiful breads That doesn't look like bread

9.

Font - What a loaf of bread looks like. He argued that bread is square, not round. I asked him to show me a what a bread looks like, he had never seen other kind of bread than the square pre-sliced toast-breads in stores.

Tumblr Thread: Customers' Mythically Powerful Coffee Orders

The life of a barista is a weird one. When every customer you have is someone who hasn't had their first coffee of the day, there's no knowing what kind of people can lumber in. Some take on the challenge and become a barista that's the living definition of chaotic good. Others just stand in awe and watch a 46-year-old woman drink 8 Red Bulls worth of caffeine in a single swig.

1.

Text - katjohnadams Actual conversation I had at register: Hi, welcome to [Starbucks]! What can I get you, today?" "How much is it to fill a Venti with Espresso?" 1-I'm sorry?" "A venti cup. How much to fill it with Espresso?" "Oh. uh. Well, it'd be I suppose.. I only have a button for a Quad. I don't have special pricing for twenty ounces of espresso in a single.. drink." "Price is the furthest thing from my mind right now. How many 'add shots is that?" *deep breath of fear* "If'd be a quad wit

2.

Text - "How many can I add?" Futile though it is, at least I know the rote response to this. "For health reasons, we won't add more than one per drink and we cannot sell the packets individually." "One then." I alter the order and tell her the new price. She pays, dumps the change and five golden dollars into the tip box. I write the order on the venti cup and pass it silently to the girl working the hot beverage station. Normally we called and pass, but this was . not something to be spoken alo

3.

Text - m4ge i walk into starbucks and order a pumpkin spice latte with 13 shots of espresso. i tell the barista that i intend to transcend humanity and become a god. i ask for no whip cream avantgaye you say this jokingly but i had a customer actually order a pumpkin spice latte with 9 shots of espresso (also no whip) and when i asked her to verify that she did indeed want 9 shots of espresso she looked me dead in the eyes and said i have 5 kids" witchcraft-with-space-bean I once had a woman com

Highly Questionable and Unsafely Done Jobs

When a job needs to get done, sometimes that need gives way to a wonderfully unprofessional "not my job" moment. And other times, a lack of critical thinking or need to get that job done quick results in a spectacular display of brash dudes engaging in risky maneuvers. Either way, you see some questionable stuff.

Incompetent Boss Sabotages Business, Employee Steals Boss' Clients

Man oh man, nothing can bring a hard working employee's blood to a boil like having to deal with an incompetent boss who insists with bullish ignorance that they know how to run things, as they ruin everything. Jeff sounds like a waking nightmare to work with, and a generally toxic person to be around. Fortunately, this guy was able to use his talent and skillset to start up his own business, and successfully poach some of Jeff's clients. And honestly, it sounds like that was for the best. Businesses weren't long for this world under Jeff's "guidance."

1.

Text - r/ProRevenge + Join u/[deleted] • 4y Business is business I joined the Navy when I was 18, ended up as a Corpsman in Iraq and Afghanistan, and, whenI returned, found out that I was going to have to take classes to even become an EMT. Fuck that, right? So I did the next best thing: I got a degree in Economics. Now I see you there, grinning ear to ear. What an idiot, right? Well, it turned out pretty well for me. I picked up a job for 35k/yr as a business consultant for a smallish company i

2.

Text - So I'm 25, fresh with a BA in Econ(studying with sandy pants ain't fun), with a pretty decent job. Jeff and I seem to get along, the only problem is that he's...a product on the 80s. Everything was about cutting corners and cutting costs as much as possible to stay stable in bad times. But this was around 2009, and my take on it was that it'd lead to businesses continuing to drop out. They cut costs, which cuts demand in the area, which further kills businesses, so we have to expand our a

3.

Text - Well, Jeff doesn't like this, too much. He cut his teeth in business when I was still in diapers, right? So he keeps moving me off projects and onto smaller ones, where the commission isn't as great, and the businesses are already knee deep in cost cutting, so it's almost impossible to turn it around as people keep leaving the area because they've been foreclosed on. But that isn't what got me. Oh, no. We're talking about a six figure contract now, and he taps me to work on it because we

4.

Text - why, you ask? Because my boss went over my head and started offering his own consultation. They'd make much more money, he reasoned, if they just cut back on workers, brought on some temps at half the pay of their staff, or eased off of maintenance of their machinery. So they started doing that, and they started falling behind. My boss then blamed this on me, and my "delusions of grandeur" and my "naivete." I figured out that he had been reviewing my work, then replacing my suggestions an

5.

Text - So I quit. But I was so damned mad -- madder than I was when a Marine would shake me up at 0300 because he had guard duty at 0400 and the fucking French shared their wine with him. I wasn't doing anything with my money. Between extra from GI Bill, post 9/11 money, bonuses, and my wonderful paycheck, I already had a stable home, and enough money saved up that I didn't have to work for about 10 years. But that's not REVENGE, is it? It started small. I worked out of my apartment calling up t

6.

Text - With this new profit, I put a down on a small property down the road from Jeff's office. One of the many businesses that shut down during the recession, partly due to his corrupting influence. I needed more people, so I hired a recent Econ grad to help me out. I bide my time, snatching up small contracts, and working on pulling the larger ones. Lots of driving, coldcalls, and actively showing up. I finally returned to the company that had trouble before -- the one Jeff threw me under the

7.

Text - All hell breaks loose. Jeff just wails on me. "You ungrateful little shit," and "after all I did for you," "nobody else would hire a college puke with no BUSINESS experience." The owner had him escorted off the property, and I offered my services to his company for free until he realized that I KNEW what I was doing. A few months later, I had a neat little six figure contract of my own brought two more people on payroll. Jeff wasn't too happy, though. Oh, no. He started sending me harassi

8.

Text - It is now 2016, and his business has shuttered. l'm currently working from home due to a accident that broke my arm(broke it in three places, it is NOT FUN), but my second in command, a woman who also served in Iraq, and now with an econ degree of her own, called me on Monday. We picked up another six figure contract, and we'll need new people. She had someone in mind for the position, best resume in the pile, a guy by the name of Jeff, with 40 years of business consultation experience. I
