A Woman's Cake Mistake From Meijer Went Viral for All the Right Reasons
Lisa Sarber Aldrich went to her local grocery store to get a birthday cake with a personal message. The cake didn't turn out as well as expected, but Aldrich had the chance to make someone's day much better simply by being polite and kind to the person who had helped her. She shared the story below with the image of the cake on Facebook and the feel-good post now has over 90,000 shares.
Picked out a cake at Meijer. Asked bakery-looking-employee if she could write on it for me. She said she would, and after a long time, she came and presented me with this cake. I looked her In the eye and said thank you before I even looked at the cake. After looking, I nervously laughed and headed to check out- it didn't really matter to me that it looked so bad- I thought people would think it was funny. The cashiers at the self check out didn't think it was so funny though, and called a few more cashiers and a manager over to look, even taking pictures. To my surprise, after they discussed it, one cashier put her arm on my shoulder and said "the girl who wrote that has Autism. Thank you for smiling and thanking her- even though she's not supposed to write on cakes, you probably made her day."
So I guess the moral of the story is that kindness is important!
Aldrich also shared this quick update addressing a few of the most common comments she received.
1. I am a real person. 2. This is not a Meijer marketing ploy. 3. I never asked for all this publicity, I just wanted...

With Politicians in Paris Discussing Climate Change, This 'Brandalism' Group Hung Clever Ads Challenging the Corporate Presence

The BrandalismProject, is a self-declared anti-advertisement art movement and has claimed responsibility for over 600 fake advertisements recently installed throughout Paris. The driving force behind the group's effort is the beginning of the UN Climate Change Conference.
"Amidst the French state of emergency banning all public gatherings following the terrorist attacks on 13 November in Paris, the 'Brandalism' project has worked with Parisians to insert unauthorized artworks across the city that aim to highlight the links between advertising, consumerism, fossil fuel dependency and climate change," BrandalismProject said in a statement.
The project is a collaboration between 80 artists from 19 different countries and the targets include AirFrance, Dow Chemicals, and Volkswagen, which is getting a lot of attention for perpetrating an environmental fraud.

Name of the Day: Nutella Refused to Customize a Jar of Nutella for a Little Girl Named Isis
ISIS has come to be known as a terrorist group but before that Isis was an Egyptian goddess who brought her brother/husband Osiris back to life after he was murdered. It's also the name of a five-year-old Australian girl who really wants her name on a jar of Nutella.
The company Ferrero Australia started a campaign called “Make Me Yours” which allowed people to add their names to jars of Nutella. Allowing the internet to brand your product went predictably wrong. Department stores, such as the Meyer Isis's mom tried to buy from, are unable to print everything submitted. It might have something to do with gems like this one:
via @JayBattestelli
For the mom of this little girl, being denied a personalized jar of sweet, hazelnut chocolate spread is the last straw in a long line of unforseen consequences cause by the unfortunate name. She told the Sydney Morning Herald, "I am starting to get to the point where I don't want to call her name out because she's going to start noticing people looking."
Now she's on a mission to reclaim the name.
